  1. I am aware that they have nothing to do with the Final Decision, but I still don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to say what they think. They're working for a clean sport and it would seem like Russia hasn't been soing so. Sure , there's a risk that some would see it as political, but None the less, these News about Russia paints a picture of Sports that isn't what these National anti doping organisations want.
  2. Well, the National anti doping committees wants a clean sport. If a country doesn't work for that, why shouldn't they?
  3. Egen WADA says they have to be banned, I don't think the IOC have much choice...
  4. I honestly don't think that's anywhere near the Main reason. I would say that it's mainly due to scheduling. The PGA and European tours don't take a Break for the Olympics. The women's Tours do
  5. Well, I've heard countless stories about Riders having to drink beer to be able to pee for a doping test.
  6. The official danish song for the Olympics is out... I'm not impressed!
  7. It seems like almost all teams are in the same tough situation. Sweden has been mentioning trying to get an exemption for them to pick players not in the original squad, because they've gotten lots of nos. Denmark seems to be doing decently with a deal meaning that all danish teams not playing in Europe are forced to let 2 players go, with one exemption selected by the team and the first goalie. At the moment we're at 8 players.
  8. I would really like some of the ones who fought for golf in the Olympics to tell these golfers, how they're hurting what they fought for!
  9. I'm guessing that it's mainly the schedules from the ticketing info and official schedules from the different federations
  10. For me, it's about time to rethink the concept of group stages. I'm not so worried about the number of teams, but it would not work with the classical group system. A mathematician, whose name I don't remember, came up with a great idea some years ago. This made it into 3 pots (with the best team in the best pot, the middle teams in the 2nd and of course the worst in the last one) in a system where everybody competes against everybody. This means 1 match against a team from each pot, and then all teams are in the same rankings. This would mean that every single match is important, and every goal the same. Then it could still be with 24 teams without a lot of boring matches, and it could still be possible with the same amount of knock-out matches.
  11. I'm sorry, but having a team with ONE win and the same amount of goals in ordinary time as the ultra defensive Greek champions i 2004 win the EURO, really says something about the Championships
  12. Really nerve wracking finish for some. Michél Torneus smashed the standards with a 8.44 jump and Kim Amb (javelin) also made it in his last try. Meanwhile Ole Hesselbjerg has the 44th place in the 3000m steeplechase. Crossing my fingers that he will just make it.
  13. And about the event itself, it has from my point of view been very good. Having the qualifications at the Museumspleijn worked very well and should be considered for the future (I know that the idea of having and event outside the stadium isn't completely new, but I believe it was the first time in a major championship). It was easy getting into the stadium and we quickly got into the area. The food was decent and the medal plaza was great. The only two negatives for me were the very small a amount of merchandise and the terrible seats in the stadium (man, they were unconfortable). Possibly, the speakers could have been a bit less dutch. I don't mind that they speak some dutch, but I did sometimes feel that I missed something because I didn't understand what was said, This focus on the host country also meant extra focus on some events, which I personally feel sad about (I think all events should be equal when it comes to the "official" point of view. It was a pleasure and I hope I will be back at some athletics championships in the near future.
  14. I cannot describe how happy I am that Sara won. Both because such a win is huge for danish athletics (only our 4th European Champion (6 including indoor champions) - the first female champion). But even more because it's her. It is such a huge pleasure to see her. A lovely personality and a lovely smile, which is only more fantastic when she's with her child.
  15. I really don't get why Rogestedt was dq'ed...
  16. Thanks. I came tuesday and watched both the opening and a javelin session on the Museumspleijn Will be seing a bit more of the city tomorrow.
  17. Good evening from Amsterdam. Had a good day at the Olympic Stadium today and will go saturday as well Sad that we don't have any active members from Norway. I was interviewed by their tv together with my family
  18. Well, ebola is extremely dangerous, though mainly in poor countries. It could potentially have been a pandemic, if not fought. But there's no doubt that the search for sensation makes it seem like a pandemic is just around the corner (SARS and Bird flu are 2 other examples). But it is still necessary to be cautious, also when it comes to zika.
  19. Not magically. It was a huge effort by local and international NGO's working to make people understand that they should stay away from people who died from ebola. The main reason for the danger and spread was bad education.
  20. Well, it's all a matter of what temperature we're used to. Reminds me of when I was in Florence back in the spring of 2008. Us danes were in shorts and t-shirts because we thought it was hot. Lots of Italians were wearing jackets. I start wearing shorts and t-shirt when we pass 15 degrees. Therefore 27-29 is a lot for me (though it only starts getting problematic when we pass 30 degrees), but not so much for a major part of the members here
  21. Not to mention good old Robbie McEwen!
  22. Meh. I prefer some 22-25 C...
