  1. If South Africa withdraws, the quota goes to an African nation...provided that they are in the top 20 of the world ranking. If Ghana (on the women's side) cared about developing this sport, why didn't they even show up at the Hockey Series?
  2. 14/14 for the home teams.
  3. ...because they haven't played the Copa Libertadores final yet.
  4. Egypt is already out of the top 16 after today's performance so Ukraine is also in at the moment.
  5. https://fih.live/view/event/82548
  6. Women's epee in Tallinn: Results https://www.fencingtimelive.com/tournaments/eventSchedule/9B2D0DEEE54343CE904FE1F0F81F2C81#today Streaming (Saturday and Sunday): https://fie.org/live
  7. World Cup qualification is based on the same idiotic ranking.
  8. A lot...just read this thread and you'll see that gaining 300 or 400k points per day was possible... I haven't been checking Spain but USA every few days were gaining points. I don't think they needed to be top 10 but top 10 based on rankings once you remove directly qualified teams. No idea about the men, never looked at the ranking in details, wait to see if the rankings are made public again Edit: you can see the rankings now on FIBA website. For women's OQT: ESP are not in top 10 once you remove teams automatically qualified. So they can't qualify 2 teams. Actually, Spanish women are not in top 10 european teams! (FRA and HUN as world medallist, NED, ITA, EST, GER, UKR, BLR, CZE, SUI). That's why they don't qualify.
  9. 3 tournaments in the last 3 weeks, 10 in the last 2 months, of course that was not enough, look at how much other countries played... https://play.fiba3x3.com/events?show=past
  10. Canada won the last 4 stages of the Women's Series in which they participated and got 2nd place in the overall standings (and that's probably the second most serious competition for national teams)...but they didn't force their girls to skip school to play every day so they won't have a chance to qualify.
  11. Still a small chance but they need to be very good at the World Championships that are worth 3 times more than a World Cup.
  12. They didn't call B-boy Bumblebee to perform on stage, I'm disappointed. Anyway for direct qualification anything different than: for women and for men would be a big surprise.
  13. Two days to go and it's probably all decided...sum of top 100 individuals: Russia 12 467 190 China 11 780 700 Mongolia 10 965 440 (lost some points but they keep playing and getting more) Romania 10 268 310 France 8 184 681 (they keep playing but many tournaments with too few teams or no data that are not counted in the ranking as of now) Italy 6 829 440 Iran 6 778 875 (lost points) TPE 6 394 735 (lost millions of points)
  14. If Ii remember correctly in 2012 they were using this system with scores only shown at the end of each round (unlike 2008 and earlier when live scores were shown) and it wasn't good at all, with a lot of controversies.
  15. 8 finalists, 6 quota places for the Olympics. 6 finalists was the old format, now there are 8 so they can have a speed event with quarter/semi/finals.
  16. I retract my statement, Bonfim has not been robbed...results show 4 red cards for loss of contact https://res1.wuhan2019mwg.cn/WUHAN2019/ATH/PDF/WUHAN2019~2019-10-25~2019-10-25~095646989~DT_PDF~C73K~ATHM20KMWALK----------FNL-000100--~~~5.0~P~.pdf?random=0.4912442394443941 Plus, remember that in the last 100m you can be disqualified anyway for obvious loss of contact (which is clear by both athletes in the video)...at best Bonfim could hope that the Chinese would get a direct DQ but engaging in a running race with home athletes in the last 100m and then complaining is not very smart.
  17. Bonfim being robbed of a medal, how sad
  18. whole series of tournaments seem to have been "cancelled" from the rankings (don't know why...are they checking if there were irregularities in the organization? were they caught cheating?) especially for C.Taipei and France (among top ranked nations) see "Absolute 3x3 women's series" https://play.fiba3x3.com/players/d020e9a9-5898-4d3c-b106-3b6580acd974/activity "Promo Pro camp 3x3" https://play.fiba3x3.com/players/93854753-e738-414c-9bf2-24e6ec79a2b6/activity , also some "downgrades due to small division". This is happening since a couple of days ago after the rankings were hidden as far as I know...hardly a coincidence if you ask me.
  19. see yesterday's post...as of now, Romania would be well ahead because French players lost a lot of points from last week.
  20. No big change today apart from Chinese Taipei casually losing 4,000,000 points...they are at 6,511,235 now.
  21. It's better to split them in smaller tournaments. The problem, mainly for Taiwan that seems to have zero players with points in international tournaments, is that using only these low level local tournaments each player can gain about 13k points for a win for a max. of 9 wins counted in the ranking...that's no more than 120k points per player and 12 million points per federation. Mongolia has a few players with more "international" points so they should do better if they keep playing.
  22. But the 22 October version of the ranking will still be there...that's why they released it today instead of Monday. Anyway it's this ranking that counts, no need to wait to see if the Olympic ranking will appear again.
  23. They removed it because it doesn't make sense anymore...it was only an additional ranking that didn't include results before 22 October 2018. If you read the qualification document they never say "Olympic ranking" but "world ranking by nations as of 22 October 2019".
