Fiji will only lose if teams get physical with them and play very direct. If you let them have too much space, no chance in beating them. Argentina, France, Ireland and NZ are all very physical and these 4 teams have caused them problems for the past olympic cycle.

Sports hype is not really happening much in NZ with people's attention focused on the economy, cost of living, inflation. When the official cash rate is going to drop,? Which if it does will lead to lower interest rates. There are more pressing issues at the moment. It could change a little if we win a medal very early during the olympics. But in the meantime you wouldn't know that it's only a week and a bit away.

From athletics alone I'm a huge fan of Kenny Bednarek after following him on his YouTube channel. Comes from a really small town in rural Wisconsin, adoptee, really interesting story behind him. Love Noah Lyles especially when he stirred the pot with about the NBA, I mean he's not wrong lol. Tebogo, Simbine, Sydney Mclaughlin, Perez, Adeleke. Would absolutely love it if Nuguse upsets the apple cart in the 1500m, and overshadow both Kerr and Ingebretsen but can't see it. Would love to see Alex Rose win a medal in the discus for Samoa our near neighbours.

There are a few Greeks who work here, but as you can imagine a lot of Brits and even Germans who say they escaped Europe .

That's exactly what a few Europeans who are here (NZ) on a workers visa have told me. I do believe it's now becoming a phenomenon in a lot of the western world. Where a lot of these countries are becoming more conservative. It will be even more emboldened say for example if Trump gets elected again, which I think will happen regardless of his issues with the court system.

Well NZ has had famines in the last few olympics in cycling considering the amount of talent they have. But must say we haven't come across so much talent particularly in women's endurance before. But I still lack confidence in them because just like rowing you can't gauge anything on past performance unless you were Hamish Bond and Eric Murray who practically forced out rival athletes from other nations to seek other boats. Because the gold was literally there's already.

Pretty fair reflection on NZs past championship results. But I guess what gracenote can't forsee is in rowing in particular NZ will be welcoming back 10 olympic medalists from the US College system back into the scene, and have substantially already bolstered quite a number of crews. Im expecting at least 4 medals from the womens canoe sprint squad. Emma Fairweather would be lucky to medal at the Olympics, same with Dylan Schmidt. Not convinced about men's team winning 7s gold. Cycling for NZ is too hit and miss who knows what they'll do.

Will probably end up with around 165-170 odd athletes. Our smallest since Athens. No womens hockey, a reduced rowing squad with no eights. Will probably reject a few quotas and they'll get allocated elsewhere as we are the gift that keeps on giving. Just looking at who qualified and what I think we will reject quota in, it will probably be Archery (2), Artistic Swimming (maybe?) (2), Taekwondo (2) and 1-2 Shooting quotas that will get allocated

I doubt the NZ Mens 7s team will be winning gold or even medalling. But I can however see Lisa Carrington contributing to 3 gold medals however.

Also Hawaii (according to Native Hawaiians an illegal US state) would be the powerhouse of surfing.
