  1. interesting draw also in the team event for tomorrow in Nanjing, with a vs clash already in the round of #16, then have the chance to eliminate their arch-rivals in the quarterfinals and seal the Olympic spot for , no matter what's the result of the above named Asian matchup have in the quarterfinals on their route to the necessary win, then / as a possible semifinal's matchup key matchup instead might be already the clash vs in the round of #16 (then, in case, the quarterfinal vs or )
  2. not surprised to see our guys (and their teammate Beck among the women) on top of the early races of the season... but in Paris the competition will be a lot different from these ones, it's more like a pool event given the "field of play" in the Seine
  3. and now, good luck to our coaches! looking at this year's results, they just can't leave Rizzi out of the Olympic squad Santuccio and Navarria are already untouchable (and world medallists last year)... so, it should be down to Isola and Fiamingo...one most valuable as a reserve for the team event, the other one*...well, twice world champion, Olympic silver medallists, the most experienced individual specialist of the team, but an illusive, possible disaster if used in the team's competition (especially as a closer, which is normally her position) *and also super-Greg Paltrinieri's girlfriend, which might play a role also for Greg's psych in Paris I fear lots of arguing and social media shit incoming...

  6. oh, yes...you're right! she became mother and decided to leave the competitive sport
  7. she's back! Therese Johaug will start in the 3-mile race at the Norwegian Champs on Saturday (9.30 a.m., live at @Grassmarket's link) https://www.nrk.no/sport/therese-johaug-i-villreie-for-nm-comebacket_-_-blir-litt-avgjerande-for-vegen-vidare-1.16810927 (sorry, it's in Norwegian, but google could save the day for all of us)
  8. at least now Spain is no longer the only "team" with an anthem made of music only, with no words
  9. weightlifting, actually they have a woman who's a medal contender (Chikamatana) modern pentathlon, right now they're a bit off, but they still have some tradition (Esposito taking women's gold in London Rio) Archery, they also have some tradition...better not underestimate them...but yeah, this time I don't think they're good enough to qualify without the help of the Continental qualifiers
  10. Judo, number of JPN gold medals in London 2012: 1, in Rio 2016: 3 (only exception, Tokyo 2020 as they hosted the Games and you know...Home Soil is always Home Soil) Fencing, number of ITA gold medals in Rio 2016: 1, in Tokyo 2020: 0 Taekwondo, number of KOR gold medals in Rio 2016: 2, in Tokyo 2020: 0 once again, you're wrong and heavily biased...and a lot more than those people you think are biased
  11. https://stillmed.olympics.com/media/Documents/News/2024/03/AIN-Anthem.mp3
  12. ITA is a simple team to read...if we can score 3-pt shots with high percentage, we can win against every team (but the USA), as we showed at the last Europeans vs (with Jokic) and (we basically threw the match away in the last minute with 0/4 from the charity stripe when we laready had it in the bag) otherwise we can lose against any other team (see at the last Europeans or at the last world cup)
  13. yes, AFC 1, 2, 3 should mean the final position at the upcoming U-23 Asian Cup (but FIFA didn't actually said that in official way, so they can still manipulate the outcome as they want )
  14. I wouldn't say that...LTU is way more physical than ITA, they have bigger bodies (that's why we always struggle against them), but if we look at pure talent, there's not so much difference, only Sabonis can be considered on another level
  15. no, I don't think so...they will just be out of the list, nobody will notice their absence (knowing that the actual RUS and BLR teams are not participating)
  16. yeah, but even if I think they won't qualify, there are still in play Nations like or who might do the trick but I'm sure FIFA and IOC will do some magic and that Asian team in group D will end up being one between or
  17. don't run too much ahead...let's wait and see who qualify, first Russians and Belarussians simply won't appear (not even as AIN) in the official medal table...it's as simple as that they will have their prize ceremony with AIN Flag and anthem, but that's all...AIN just isn't a team, only a signature to identify the athletes coming from those Nations
  18. well, given the results of the European champs and of this world champ, is already well behind (they're 0-3 in 2 tournaments this year) but of course you're right...many things will happen from here to 2026...way too early to say something "serious"
  19. yes, @Josh is right, they clearly explained that during the draw: CAF #1 is the winner of vs , CAF #2 is the winner of vs
  20. they're already in... we expect 3 medals from curling at home...after Beijing 2022, the limit is the sky
  21. no, but it might happen that the Asian team in group D will be an Islamic Nation...it might get tricky for the organizers and the IOC
  22. given the swimming schedule (only 1 final colliding...and perfectly set at a time that should be in the interval of the basketball game), USA vs SRB (July 28th) might well be at 9 p.m. Paris time (3 p.m. ET in the USA)
  23. in this case, it's quite obvious that one of the endurance girls will get the spot next to Vece to enlarge our roster for the pursuit/omnium/madison team
  24. it would be a nice story, but I don't think they're good enough
