To my knowledge the final European Qualification Tournament was given to Turkey. However, according to Dutch media the Dutch Volleyball Federation still wants to organize this tournament. Wondering if this is still possible.

But are there any rules for selecting the athletes? Is a NOC required to select a "top-15 team" over - let's say - the number 36 of the FIVB World Ranking?

So, the winners of the tickets this week will participate at the Olympics? Strange, why is Brazil sending their B-teams if they cannot change the line-up for the Olympics?

Nations earn a quota place here, therefore I don't understand why some countries didn't send their best teams. For example . Normally Mol/Sorum would easily grab one quota for Norway and because of their first place at the rankings, Norway could have send its second team (Berntsen/Mol).

Yes! After today's first phase-matches 4 teams of each gender are ready. Only the best 12 are going to the second phase (tomorrow). Both Dutch teams are through Biggest upset in my opinion: Ehlers/Fluggen and Ahmed/Cherif are out.

The Dutch team will be exactly the same as last weeks' team. Hopefully that will be enough

After the loss against Czech Republic, I didn't expect a new European title for the Dutch. Nice win against the biggest rival Italy. Hopefully the results will be the same next week

Dutch women team for the Worlds: Lieke Wevers Naomi Visser Eythora Thorsdottir Sanne Wevers (who's back after several injuries, she's still not 100% recovered) Tisha Volleman Vera van Pol has a chance to qualify for the Olympics, but will be hard. Will be a tough battle for the last spots (place 11-12) with Belgium, Romania and Germany (I think).

Het is duidelijk dat Morrison de vrouwen minder goed aan de praat krijgt dan Guidetti, maar het is ook gewoon een feit dat de belangrijkste Nederlandse speelster, Lonneke Sloetjes, geen gelukkige zomer heeft gedraaid. Maar de belangrijkste reden waarom ze de OS mislopen: Turkije is in potentie een beter team dan Nederland en dat lijkt er nu uit te komen. Ik vraag me dan ook serieus af of het zin heeft om het (dure) OKT naar Nederland te halen. Turkije is Nederland gewoon voorbij. Anderzijds: Nederland is momenteel wel veel beter dan Rusland. Dat land heeft gewoon onwijze mazzel gehad met de OKT-indeling, waardoor ze nu al een ticket voor Tokio op zak hebben.

Wow! Exciting matches this evening. Would have been a problem when and both lost their matches. One of them should miss the Olympic qualifier. But fortunately both are through to the semis. Watch out for , they already surprised Netherlands and will be number 5 of this tournament.

Vorig jaar leek het er op alsof Nederland met een record aantal teams naar de Spelen zou gaan, maar in de tussentijd is er toch wel iets veranderd. Hoe staan de teams er nu voor? Voetbalvrouwen: geplaatst Hockeyvrouwen: geplaatst Softbalsters: niet geplaatst Hockeyheren: eind oktober play-off tegen Pakistan (kan nog wel eens lastig worden, Rusland of Oostenrijk als tegenstander was eenvoudiger geweest) Honkballers: spelen nu een wisselvallig EK en van 18-22 september tegen min of meer dezelfde landen het OKT in Italië (gastland, Israël, Nederland, Spanje favoriet) Handbalvrouwen: spelen in december het WK en - als ze geen wereldkampioen worden - in maart het OKT, zonder topspeelster Nycke Groot Volleybalheren: kansloze missie op het OKT in januari met 7 sterke Europese tegenstanders Volleybalvrouwen: wat is dáár misgegaan? OKT in januari in Turkije wordt erg moeilijk, Turkije lijkt onze dames inmiddels voorbij te zijn Waterpolovrouwen: nog twee kansen na het totaal mislukte WK: in januari het EK en in maart een OKT. Wordt spannend, Nederland kan er ook zomaar naast vallen Waterpoloheren: kansloze missie op het OKT in maart, ondanks dat het in eigen land is Ik hoop dat ik ernaast zit, maar ik verwacht er eigenlijk nog maar 1 of hooguit 2 teams bij.

Netherlands win against Germany (8-1) and still has a chance to avoid Italy and Spain in the quarterfinals. Italy and Israel make the most impression so far. 4 plays, 4 wins.

Finally the first win for these Championships, a solid 9-0 against . After the loss of today, the Dutch probably need two more wins against Israel and Germany to avoid and in the quarterfinals.

Will the pools for the OG-qualifier determined by serpentine system? In that case we have TUR (first seed, because host), BUL, POL, AZE and NED, GER, BEL, CRO. Or has Turkey the right to choose the teams in their pool?

Absolutely Turkey. Netherlands is very weak at the moment and with this coach it won't be better in january.

I already expected that: so much fumbling in the infield. This Dutch team is the weakest Dutch team in years ... unfortunately. So, this loss means maybe Spain or Italy will play against in the quarterfinals . How will be determined the number 5 of these championships?

We'll see, but at this moment NED is struggling against Czech Republic, so I have no illusions NED is at the same level of last international championships. Hopefully it turns out there is little differences between the teams, that gives us nice matches to watch!
