  1. I think Šuštić/Belušić will compete at Vienna marathon.
  2. I don't know for swimming exactly, but in athletics it is usually meetings in Croatia and Slovenia/Austria/Italy. And also Croatian club championships and senior championships (which is usually held the last weekend before the qualification period ends)..
  3. But the injury that she sustained in a crash last year didn't help at all. She was just hitting the top form and started collecting some qualification points when it happened.
  4. And there is also an outside chance in fencing (foil). We have a couple of fencers that are actually not bad at all. But it is going to be an uphill battle for them.
  5. There are no reallocations within this event. Actually, these quotas will be reallocated to rankings (not to the best African nations in the rankings, but to the best nations in the rankings regardless of the continent).
  6. 1948 Olympic marathon was probably one of the most interesting ever.
  7. Damn it, 16th place for Rodeš. We are so often unlucky in this sport. EDIT: 17th actually, but still.
  8. There are also Nikolina Šuštić and Barbara Belušić that are pretty close to marathon qualification. One of them should be able to join. In canoeing slalom we have Matija Marinić, European U23 champion some 2-3 years ago. We have a tradition in this sport (competed at every Olympics since 1992), but it's going to be a lottery with only one quota available. It really is a lottery, you touch a gate and you get 2 seconds penalty.
  9. Or maybe Žugaj to Europeans and then Starčević to 1st World QT. Europeans in Serbia and 1st Wolrd QT in Mongolia are just one week apart, so it could be practical. Though, if I remember well, one of the World QTs back in 2012 was held somewhere in Asia and our federation didn't bother to send anyone there. Sadly, I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happens with this Mongolia tournament. Main goal should be to qualify at least 1 wrestler. We have a chance in -59, -66, -75 and -85 in greco-roman, but none of them can be too sure about qualification.
  10. I would be very surprised if Etlinger and Žugaj don't get selected.
  11. Yes, that's a very stupid decision. Generally, the worst thing that sport federations can do is to change competition formats because they want "more fans". Usually such changes don't bring any new fans, but they really annoy existing fans.
  12. And it should be easier now considering that, thanks to Netherlands, the number of athletes that a nation can enter in one event has been reduced.
  13. That was a very nice run for junior world champion.
  14. Sasaki finished 18th. http://www.omegatiming.com/File/Download?id=0001100104020302FFFFFFFFFFFFFF02
  15. So this should mean that Itahashi's potential quota in women's springboard will not be selected too. Chances for our qualification there are even bigger now.
  16. Virgin Islands get quota by knock out! Well done. Other quotas go to Argentina.
  17. It's fascinating that Netherlands female team is one of the best in the World while their male team is so weak.
  18. Are you sure that Kyrgyzstan "bought" that Russian? Or the Russian just came because he is not the best in Russia? I don't think that Kyrgyzstan is a nation that can afford some athlete shopping.
  19. Well, there can be equally as much corruption regardless of wheter the athletes are selected before or after qualification tournament. As for South Africa, I wouldn't be surprised if some appeals about their selection systems emerge. Obviously there is no point in appealing about selection criteria if you haven't qualified in first place.
  20. There should be some objective ways for deciding that. If someone wins qualification tournament that should be more valuable then qualifying through box-off. Morocco qualifies 9 boxers this time. Out of 8 boxers that they had in London, 7 (!) of them went out in round one. I really don't see the point in that. It's going to be something similar in Rio probably.
  21. South Africa's selection document in triathlon once again clearly states that "continental quotas will not be considered". But there will be no reallocation within this event. If South Africa refuses than the quotas will go to best African nation in rankings.
  22. 4 quotas for Kyrgyzstan at Asian tournament so far, very successful for them.
  23. It should still be possible to qualify in all categories, off course. But there should be some quota limits at continental qualifications. If you want to have a lot of athletes you have to earn it on global stage. Well, at least in canoeing C1 and C2 quotas should be interesting. Sao Tome and Principe should qualify based on their performance at World Championships last year, fingers crossed. Maybe even in C2.
  24. Morocco steals the show in women's boxing. Some countries really got hurt by the fact that there are only 3 quotas per category for Africa (in 2008 and 2012 Africa had 6 quotas per category for example). Ghana has one last chance to qualify in welterweight later today. In 2008 Ghana had 6 boxers, in 2012 4 boxers, so this is very bad for them. Now they have to defeat Algeria just to get this 1 quota.
