  1. Semifinals for Middle and West Asian qualifying tournaments. Other regional tournaments aren't really interesting because the winners are quite obvious (China in East, Singapore in South East and India in South) Middle Asia Men's Nima Alamian vs. Afshin Noroozi Kirill Gerassimenko vs. Noshad Alamyan Women's Olga Kim vs. Nataliya Sladkova Rimma Gufranova vs. Neda Shahsavari West Asia Men's Li Ping vs. Zaid Abo Yaman Ali Alkhadraiwi vs. Abdulaziz Al-Abbad Women's Mariana Sahakian vs. Bara Al-Wedian Malak Khory vs. Aia Mohamed
  2. Btw, it's already 3 AM, April 14th on Nuku'alofa. So, we'll know the results fairly soon.
  3. That's nice for Fiji and Tonga. Though, it's weird that Samoa misses an Olympic QT once again! They qualified two taekwondo athletes and one archer in 2012, but this time they didn't even show up at Oceanian qualifications.
  4. Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein & Digby London 2012 One of my favourites. I will look for more later.
  5. Australian guy will be out of the automatic qualification zone fairly soon.
  6. Babić is in quarterfinals of men's heavyweight division. He will go against Poland.
  7. In Asian and African QT there were a couple of matches in which two judges scored 30-27 for one fighter while the third judge scored 30-27 for the other fighter. AIBA is just becoming less and less transparent. I remember back at 2008 Olympics when there was live scoring on screen... They changed that for 2012, with no more live scoring (scores shown only after each round)... Now they have found even less transparent system.
  8. Well, Primorac pretty much didn't show anything after qualifying for London 2012 via rankings (in early 2011)... It was always unrealistic to expect something from him.
  9. Tan and Rakovac ended the day with a win. Tan will go against Hungary for the first place in the group tomorrow. Rakovac should be first in her group after defeating Chinese-Portuguese player today.
  10. It's continental regatta qualification rule. Nation can qualify only one both per gender. Brazil earned all 4 quotas last month, but they chose lightweight doubles for both genders. Meaning that single sculls quotas are reallocated.
  11. Top seed in men's middleweight (O'Reilly from Ireland) is out. Defeated by Finland!
  12. You can also say then "how is murdering someone related to Olympics?" We had many athletes thrown out of their national teams for bad behaviour. For example, maybe some of you remember the Greek triple jumper who got thrown out of London 2012 team just before the Games started because of a racist post on her Facebook.
  13. Looks like Kuwait won the last available quota (men's epee). Nice that Hong Kong and Vietnam let someone else win a quota
  14. Looking at the rankings, Gaćina is currently the only one who is in qualification position (even if we exclude athletes that are likely going to qualify at Asian/European qualifications). So, this tournament might be the only chance for others to qualify, and this is a really hard tournament to do so because none of the Europeans is already qualified (except Baku 2015 winners...).
  15. Well, with all due respect to Wikipedia, I think that letter from FISA is much more reliable source.
  16. Okay, so Paraguay is most definitely qualified for both men's and women's single sculls. But this doesn't really solve the mystery about other quotas!
  17. This is getting confusing, Both Ecuador and Venezuela are also claiming that they received reallocation in men's single sculls! That should be possible only if some country that initially qualified in men's singles received a reallocation in men's doubles (maybe Uruguay?) At least the situation is clear for women's events. All three reallocations were made in women's single sculls (poor El Salvador). Argentina, Paraguay and Peru received them.
  18. Some news from Latin American qualifications. Looks like Chile confirmed men's single sculls quota and women's light doubles quota, meaning that Paraguay gets reallocation for women's event. http://www.mega.cl/la-roja/team-chile/21272-melita-abraham-y-josefa-veliz-clasificaron-a-rio-2016.html Meanwhile, Paraguayan Olympic committee and rowing federation are claiming that they received reallocation in both men's and women's single sculls. http://www.adndigital.com.py/rivarola-y-mosqueira-van-a-los-juegos-olimpicos-de-rio/ Don't know how they got it in men's singles, that should be possible only if Ecuador refused it.
  19. Maybe Moldova disowned her when she switched to Azerbaijan.
  20. Well, that wouldn't be a real satisfaction, sadly.
  21. Interesting that all of the North American Olympic qualifiers will be the players of Asian (Chinese) origin.
  22. At home. Glad that I was proven wrong though.
