  1. That's ICF for you. They literally changed their qualification system and gave France/Denmark quotas in K4. If I remember well there were some appeals about that.
  2. Well, the name of the thread is "Naturalized athletes at 2016 Olympics" so
  3. Few more... Somalia in taekwondo, Panama in artistic gymnastics, Kazakhstan in trampoline.
  4. There are 20 wild cards in judo so we should be quite confident. Btw, I found the list of currently qualified countries. Currently we have 113. https://www.judobase.org/#/ogq/country They have finally remembered to remove Tahiti and New Caledonia, but they still have Curacao on the list. That quota should go to Bolivia so it's still 113 though.
  5. Congrats, but you will still have 3. Once everything is settled.
  6. Europe is really dominating -98kg category. Out of 11 quotas that were up for grabs at various World QTs, only 1 didn't go to Europe. As for Croatia...
  7. Even for the uneducated eye there is quite a difference between free and gr
  8. The last time France didn't have it was in 1908.
  9. Bahrain forfeited to Israel. Meanwhile, our Olympic hopes are dying...
  10. Well, keep in mind that quite of few of these are just Jewish people that were born outside of Israel. It's not all so black and white in Israel's case (meaning that they weren't bought or something).
  11. Here's an interesting fact about wild card athletes in taekwondo. All four of them combined haven't achieved a single win in the respective continental qualification tournaments.
  12. Surprise, surprise, Barbara Matić will miss another tournament. I just hope that's not because our federation told her: "You don't have to go, you have guaranteed a qualification" Lucky for Kumrić, for some reason Stam will not compete too. Kumrić is such a lucky guy.
  13. You never know though. Bahrain would spoil their investment if they don't allow him.
  14. Only 41 nations have qualified (in 2012 there were 57 nations). There will be more with wild cards, but still a considerably less comparing to London.
  15. No news about that. My guess is that they saved him for the last chance qualifier.
  16. Well, it's not like "normal" nationality changes are targeted or criticized here. Only nations like Bahrain who has 20+ naturalized athletes and 0 home athletes are criticized.
  17. So you stole an athlete from small Dominica? I don't think we will have any naturalized athlete this time (we had 4 in 2012).
  18. Also both Palestinians currently qualified are German-born. But you can't blame them, they didn't buy them. Their marathon runner is of Palestinian heritage (and she has Arab name) while their dressage rider is just a great enthusiast.
  19. OMG! You almost don't notice them with Azerbaijan and Qatar on headlines. I guess that's because they are not as successful in terms of medals/good results. Also Singapore, who has many Chinese-born athletes, but they are nothing like Bahrain.
  20. I guess it's at least better to have Chunayev in first round than having him in semifinal. It would be sad if don't make it, this is the only combat sport that I don't get bored when watching...
  21. They are just using zika virus as an excuse.
  22. Well perhaps the fact that they never competed outside of athletics helped (Saint Kitts and Nevis is the only other such country, even Mauritania is not on that list). Plus, this is certainly the only sport they applied for so it was on top of their priority list. Meanwhile, I'm actually happy that Macedonia didn't get it. Their girl may be the highest ranked, but their girl is actually Croatian who switched to Macedonia because she can't make our team. It would be very wrong if wild cards are given to athletes like her.
