  4. ITF published updated entries. Hercog (SLO) and Linette (POL) in women's singles, Fabbiano (ITA) in men's singles. One men's singles place is open following the withdrawal of Zverev and it should go to Albot (MDA). Also one more men's doubles place is TBC.
  5. They predict medals for Uruguay, Fiji and Sweden in weightlifting.
  6. FEI profile says that he is Dutch Warmblood (KWPN) so he was born in the Netherlands.
  7. @heywoodu When is Totallympics medal table coming?
  8. Why sad face? You should be even more excited with Slovak archers competing.
  9. Draws are generally held a couple of days before the competition. I know that table tennis draw will be held on August 3rd and boxing on August 4th I think. Taekwondo and wrestling will not be done before the Opening ceremony. Andrej Gaćina is actually the 16th seed for men's table tennis tournament. The seeding rankings are not final yet but he'll probably stay in top 16. If he stays in top 16 then he'll receive a bye until round 3. 17-32 ranked players will start from round 2.
  10. Yes, and we will all follow the live scores.
  11. Ranking round (which will be held on Day 0) is missing the opening post. Schedule is available here.
  12. I've just learned that our neighbours in Olympic village are teams from Greece and Angola.
  13. One more from the Irish part of stables.
  14. I find it quite surprising that China has only one top seed (in mixed doubles)! Though I still think they will top badminton medal tally (for starters even I know that Lee Chong Wei just can't win gold ).
  15. How do horses get to the Rio Olympic Games? By plane of course! The first group of Olympic horses departed from London Stansted Airport (GBR) today (29 July) on a special cargo plane bound for Rio 2016, marking the start of the Olympic dream for the world’s best equine athletes. With 34 horses from 10 nations on board, the equine cargo worth multiple millions, was loaded into customized pallets for the almost 12-hour flight that left the UK at 15.20 BST. Eventing horses from Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Japan, Italy and China are on board Friday’s flight out of Stansted, the first of nine shipments delivering more than 200 horses to Rio International Airport, en route to the Olympic Equestrian Centre in Deodoro Olympic Park. This highly complex operation involves three hubs in Europe and America: Stansted (GBR), Liege (BEL) and Miami (USA). The competing horses and their riders will represent 43 nations from around the globe in the Olympic disciplines of Dressage, Jumping and Eventing. Stansted flight facts: Estimated flight time Stansted – Rio: 11 hours 40 mins 17,500 kgs of horses flying from Stansted 515kg is the average weight of an Eventing horse (630kg is the average weight of a Dressage horse and 610kg for Jumping horses) 9,900kg of horse equipment 6,000 kg of feed (doesn’t include feed they’ll eat on the flight) 40 litres of water per horse 34 Eventing horses – representing Great Britain, Ireland, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Brazil, Japan, Italy and China In-flight entertainment: What are the horses’ favourite in-flight movies? 18. Well, I strongly disagree with everyone who states that Olympics are "too cool" for regular athletes. Difference between Olympics and World championships is that qualifying for the Olympics is harder (especially in sport like weightlifting where World championships are open to everyone), and yet those who make the Olympics get criticized. They earned this spot (it wasn't a random pick) and they deserve to send one athlete. Just like Starčević got his reallocated quota. Amar Musić will be going in -85kg.
  19. ITTF confirmed the reallocation.
  20. No, he will not finish last. Being our best lifter he could get a half-decent result. The main point is that we will have another sport in Rio, what is good, especially for a sport in which our Olympic medal winning performances in 2000 and 2004 were followed by two Olympics with zero Croatian weightlifters. Who knows, maybe that in combination with hosting European Championships next year could bring a brighter future in this sport.
  21. They will. Why wouldn't they?
