The medals table looks nice and everyone gets crazy about it, but it really is just one side of the story.

 

TeamNL has 41 fewer top 8 places than Germany, but wins one medal more.

The jury revising a score after an appeal is pretty common place and happens at every tournament.

Some of the Italian medals will have beenwon through injuries, illnesses and bad luck of other nations.

The position of Curaçao is explained at the Wikipedia page about the Netherlands Antilles Olympic Committee. The Dutch Wikipedia states that the IOC gave a way out, but that possibility was torpoed by the then PM of the Netherlands Antilles who chose to litigate.

This was the 4th game were the Dutch team made a huge come back in the 4th quarter after in some cases a big deficit.

Finals should be in the evening sessions.

In Melbourne 2032 we will see finals in the morning sessions. Both in Beijing and Tokyo swimming finals were in the morning. American TV audience?

The Dutch team has a proud history of losing Olympic finals to lesser teams.

Non-US swimmers training in the US and winning multiple Olympic medals is nothing new. From a Dutch perspective, Inge De Bruijn comes to mind. She won 4 Olympic golds and 8 medals in 2000/2004, after she started training in the US. Same of course in athletics with many foreign athletes in US colleges.
So this can;t be the only explanation.

Ierland loopt zonder Adeleke, dat scheelt een hele grote slok op een borrel.

Straffen waren altijd al doorslaggevend bij Judo. In het vorige systeem werd een straf omgezet in een score, en telden twee straffen dus zwaarder dan 1 koka.

Daarvoor was het zelfs zo dat een straf zwaarder woog dan een score. Dus je kon winnen met 1 straf voor de tegenstander, tegenover een koka. Je kan nu i.i.g. pas winnen als de tegenstander drie straffen heeft opgelopen.
