    It's true but I still feel uncomfortable calling this relay a lock given the history. One thing they have going for them is the relay doesn't clash with the 100 free anymore.

    I had a feeling that the 50 free wasn't gonna go according to plan because unlike last year McEvoy looked quite nervous when walking out. Hope he spends a good amount of time with a sports psychologist between now and Paris. I fear the Olympics might be a little bit too soon for Ribeiro...

    Supposedly it'll be streamed on the Swimming Victoria YouTube channel for international viewers. The full meet page is here.

    The first biggish Australian meet, Vic Open, will be on next weekend where we're get our first look at McKeon, McKeown, Pallister, Ikee and a few others. McKeown in particular usually produces some impressive swims early in the season. Psych sheet The next one after that is in mid March which should have a much bigger field and usually gives a pretty good picture of who's on track to have a big year.

    A very promising Australian breaststroker, Sienna Toohey, almost broke Leisel Jones' 14 year old age record (1:08.30) in the 100 breast (long course) earlier today clocking 1:08.39. Australia has been struggling to find a breaststroker that can consistently compete with the world's best since Jones left her prime more than a decade ago and Toohey is looking very promising and she's more sprint oriented than Jones was.

    Not sure the whole 0.73 difference can be attributed to waves. He said in Chinese media that he was feeling a lot of pressure before the final so that wouldn't have helped.

    I'd be surprised if they'd use venues outside Queensland for cricket. Carrara stadium seems like the most likely venue.
