Weightlifting Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
MHSN replied to vlad's topic in Weightlifting
FINALLY after 3 weeks IWF updates the qualification ranking with the European Championship results. at this rate he will have the current ranking in the 3rd week of May -
here are the favorites for each weight based on the entry list, I divide them to level 1 and level 2. Seeds for Greco, from these guys I think only Kakhelashvili has a good chance to qualify. for most of these guys that's mission impossible. 60: Toro Lizatovic 67: Bakhshilloev Ashu 77: Rivas Galkinas 87: Sunil Avendano 97: Kakhelashvili Omarov 130: Perez Coon I already wrote my predictions about the Greco, Greco is much more unpredictable. I won't be surprised to see some new names in the final. and I really think some of those European wrestlers will regret competing in Poland very close to this competition.

@Laraja I was actually writing that here are top 2 seeds in each weight based on this entry list. remember this list is NOT final and a last minute change is possible even though unlikely. top 2 seeds will be separated in the draw and will have a bye in the first round if possible. 57: Bekhbayar Andreu 65: Kilicsallayan Skriabin 74: Kuramagomedov Demirtas 86: Ramos Torreblanca 97: Conyedo Saritov 125: Baran Ramonov here are the favorites for each weight based on the entry list, I divide them to level 1 and level 2. Freestyle 57: Edisherashvili Andreyeu Andreu Higuchi Bekhbayar === Bujiashvili Markovych Smanbekov 65: Khinchegashvili Gadzhiev Oliver Bekbulatov === Skriabin Kilicsallayan Ovhanesian 74: Kadzimahamedau Tsabolov Salkazanov Demirtas === Umarpashaev Budazhapov Mikhaylov 86: (only one level in this weight) Abakarov Magamev Aminashvili Torreblanca Friev Dudarov Ianulov Baranowski Makoev 97: Baran Saritov Andriitsev === Bataev Thiele Conyedo Ceban 125: Kozyrev Baran I can't see anybody else above the rest.

Table Tennis Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
MHSN replied to vinipereira's topic in Table Tennis
what 7 countries you have to qualify in the XD ? + top 5+1 in the ranking ( ??) in that case, that will open up 4 more quotas for the ranking (AUS/KOR/FRA/ROU) and yes there will be 6 to qualify btw Samsonov didn't participate in the world qualifier and also the European qualifier. I wonder if the grandpa is OK. maybe they just wanted to give 2 chances to other Belorussian players, (as they knew Samsonov will qualify via ranking) -
Table Tennis Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
MHSN replied to vinipereira's topic in Table Tennis
we had 86 quotas available for male players 48 for teams + 22 continental events + 1 wild card + 4 World Qualifiers = 75 11 quotas are left for mixed double players + ranking. Cuba and Canada already used two of those quotas (since they are using players who didn't qualify in singles) which means maximum 9 will qualify through ranking. but we still don't know 7 of qualified teams in mixed doubles, so it will be minimum 2 and maximum 9 players through the ranking. depends on those 7 remaining mixed doubles teams. at the moment only Pitchford and Aruna are 100% guaranteed a place in Tokyo -

Weightlifting Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
MHSN replied to vlad's topic in Weightlifting
Russo didn't participate at the European Championships. that was mandatory to participate in one event in this new extended period, she still can do that in the last event in Colombia but I assume whoever doesn't participate in the Euro won't go to Colombia too. Sterkx has participated only in one event at 49kg. she collected her points at 55kg and 59kg. to be eligible for the quota she needs one more event at 49kg. but I highly doubt she even registered for Colombia. she is now a regular 55kg weightlifter. the registration deadline for Colombia event was long time ago. it's not like Strekx can change her mind and go there . -
Weightlifting Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
MHSN replied to vlad's topic in Weightlifting
this is a summary of my predictions, just to see which countries are over the limit. at moment nobody has more than 4. but Japan can easily make it 7 by sending 81, 109 and +109 guys to Colombia. then they have to pick 4 out 7. I think none of them are serious medal contenders but they collected good ranking points. the only country "possible" to qualify in all 7 weights. South Korea also has someone eligible at +109kg and their 67kg guy also can make it to the list by having a mediocre result in Colombia. they have to pick 4 too. China also has to pick 4 out of 6. but I assume we already know who are those 4. Colombia has 4 but they are very close to get banned completely has just 1 quota while they have more than 1 athlete inside the qualification zone has to pick 2. are limited to 2. right now they have just 1 in my table but it can be 3 (still have to pick 2) == == == == == == == I believe only few athletes are 100% safe. (mostly top 4-5 in the ranking in each weight) the rest has to wait for their own coach's decision and also what other countries will do. -

+109kg ranking 1. Talakhadze - Minasyan (NOC is limited to 1) 2. Davoudi - 3717 (NOC is limited to 2) - Ziaziulin - 3595 (NOC is limited to 1) 3. Reis - 3559 4. Assad - 3439 5. Toychyyev - 3414 6. Bidani - 3311 (Africa) - Savchuk - 3182 (5 events) (NOC is limited to 1) 7. Orsag - 3126 ?. Ham - 3125 (more than 4 quotas available for KOR) ?. Martirosjan - 3091 (also eligible for 109kg) - Kucera - 3088 (2nd CZE) - Murakami - 3031 (5 events) 8. Nagy - 3023 9. Wilkes - 2896 10. Liti - 2797 (Oceania) 11. Litvinov - 2772 12. Kuworge - 2633 13. Manriquez - 2474 This weight is probably the hardest one to predict ! so many uncertainties KOR has a guy in top 8 but he was very poor in Asia, I don't think they pick him the biggest question is about ARM and BLR and if they use their only quota here. a month ago that was impossible but not anymore. JPN can send this guy to Colombia and easily make him qualify Martirosjan (AUT) who is a 109kg can easily qualify in this weight if he wants too. == if Bidani stays in top 8, there is nobody else from Africa in the ranking !! that quota will be reallocated. same for Asia if KOR and JPN both decide to not qualify in this weight. -

109kg ranking 1. Martirosyan (NOC is limited to 1) - Yang 2. Djuraev 3. Chumak - 3765 (NOC is limited to 2) - Bochkov - 3722 (no) (NOC is limited to 1) 4. Naniev - 3698 (NOC is limited to 1) 5. Michalski - 3574 6. Aramnau - 3568 (NOC is limited to 1) - Hashemi - 3560 (no) (5 events) 7. Plesnieks - 3556 8. Hristov - 3439 (NOC is limited to 2) 9. Jin - 3372 - Jeong - 3358 (no) 10. Ruiz - 3292 11. Kitts - 3281 - Bersanov - 3192 (NOC is limited to 1) - Mochida - 3144 (5 events) 12. Martirosjan - 3091 13. Gonzalez - 3060 13. Columbie - 2923 I believe RUS, ARM and BLR will use their only quota here in this weight but of course that's not guaranteed. Aramnau was terrible in Euro. Martirosytan just killed someone in a car accident. I also think BUL send Hristov it's possible for Hashemi of IRI to go to Colombia and makes himself eligible. Iran won't pick him if someone at 96kg makes it. == * only few points separate AUS, ASA and SAM in Oceania -
Weightlifting Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
MHSN replied to vlad's topic in Weightlifting
the last qualification event will be the World Junior Championships but I assume nobody from that tournament can go to the Olympics. all of them were maximum 17 when the qualification period started ! and that online event (even if that happens) is only for the Oceania athletes, not for everybody. for most weightlifters Colombia event is the last chance. -
they called it the leg foul. it was a close call but I would give it 4 to Kamal. he was the better wrestler clearly. even without that 4pts throw still they could give Emelin another passivity caution. the way they give cautions is terrible. no consistency at all. nobody knows when they are going to give a 3rd caution. in that match Kamal worked really hard for a 3rd caution but they didn't give it. probably because they knew Kamal may score something and win the match, (and they didn't want to make the big Mamiashvili angry) but then for example in Italy-Austria 97kg bronze medal match, they gave a nonsense 3rd caution against Nikoloz. most probably because they knew the Austrian can't move him an inch. in that POL-SRB match I explain above, they didn't even give the 2nd caution despite absolutely no activity in the 2nd period. whenever I see a tournament with relatively "good officiating" they come back strongly the next tournament with some terrible officiating (not necessarily on purpose, sometimes simply because they are stupid) to make sure nobody forgets how bad they are. I couldn't watch the preliminaries since Iam busy these days but I watched yesterday and tonight finals and saw so many calls I consider them questionable.

I think we still don't know how many players will qualify through the ranking. that depends on the mixed double quotas. (if they already qualified in singles or team events or not) it could more than 8 but most probably less than that. I'm not sure though but that was my understanding. -

MHSN replied to vlad's topic in Weightlifting
we don't know the details. maybe they gather in 2 or 3 confirmed places that was what ITG reported from their proposal. nothing confirmed but that makes sense actually. they have no other option with Oceania Championship's cancellation. it's not really about the results. last event isn't going to make "huge" changes in the ranking. it's mostly about the doping test. that's why participating in one event at this time is mandatory. wherever they lift, there should be doping test, that's for sure. -
Weightlifting Qualification to Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympic Games
MHSN replied to vlad's topic in Weightlifting
apparently it's about giving Oceania athletes a chance to have an online event ! it was mandatory for everybody to participate in one event in 2021 (extended period because of COVID) which was the continental championships for everybody. but with Oceania Champs being cancelled IWF is looking for a way to make up for that without having to change everything completely. -
The good thing about wrestling is that the refs never stop to surprise you they didn't give Mate Nemes the passivity caution the entire match but then they gave him 2pts caution for being extremely passive in the last minute so he wasn't passive (according to the refs) but then they realized he is VERY passive to be penalized by 2pts negative wrestling caution at first this sounds like more punishment but in fact passivity caution with a chance on top in parterre position was what the Polish wrestler was looking for. not a sure thing he could make up for that nice 4 pts throw of Nemes. Nemes most probably could still win the match though but that officiating was hilarious.

yes, I mean I obviously wish the best for our athletes, our weightlifting is in a bad situation and we badly need a good result in Tokyo. but on other hand as a sport fan it's just not fair for Minasyan. he did nothing wrong himself (at least not yet) and he deserves a chance to participate at the Olympics. but he can't do anything about it. it's Martirosyan (109kg guy) spot to lose. (which is not impossible anymore considering recent events) Weightlifting is becoming even more predictable than Artistic Swimming in most weights lots of medal contenders can't participate. (some of them because of doping but some of them because of just some administrative mistakes) I already can predict China to win 8 gold medals, for the other Olympic Champions we have to wait to see the Chinese team. but TPE and GEO are guaranteed a gold. maybe QAT if Moradi doesn't make it. when we have the start list I believe I can easily predict 13 out 14 Olympic Champions. maybe only men's 109kg is a bit competitive.

Fencing FCA Asian & Oceanian Olympic Games Qualifier 2021
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Fencing
Roman Petrov wins the men's epee quota. after beating top seed from 15-12. the Vietnamese guy was seriously injured near the end of the bout and could barely walk -
Davoudi wasn't supposed to be in his best shape here. he had a minor knee injury 2 months ago (at least that's what they say) and he wasn't supposed to push too hard here. he is kind of a choker, nothing is guaranteed with him but still it will be hard for him to not beat the rest (except Talakhadze and Minasyan if he participates which is a big if)
