so far that's the decision but of course in Iran nothing is set in stone and there is always a chance to bend the rules that blind football team totally got destroyed after that weird decision (they won the silver in Rio 2016) and this time they made their criteria even harder. only World Championship medalists will be sent to Paris ! (with only few exceptions in individual sports mostly for women) our NPC has an unhealthy obsession with having a high number of medals/athletes ratio, they always claim they are proud of picking "quality" over "quantity" !

Wrestling Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Wrestling
Japan Olympic team at the end of their trials Freestyle 57: Rei Higuchi 65: Kotaro Kiyooka 74: Daichi Takatani 86: Hayato Ishiguro 97: Arash Yoshida 125: Taiki Yamamoto Greco 60: Kenichiro Fumita 67: Kyotaro Sogabe 77: Nao Kusaka 87: So Sakabe 97: Yuri Nakazato 130: Sota Okamura Women 50: Yui Susaki 53: Akari Fujinami 57: Tsugumi Sakurai 62: Sakura Motoki 68: Ami Ishii or Nonoka Ozaki 76: Yuka Kagami Those in bold didn't wrestle in the trials because they were pre-selected for winning a medal at the 2023 World Championship others still have to qualify the weight for Japan (and themselves) 68kg women is a special case. Ami Ishii finished 5th in Belgrade, qualified the weight but didn't win a medal. she lost here in this tournament but still has a second chance against the winner Ozaki. there will be a wrestle-off in another date. -
Wrestling Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Wrestling
Takuto Otoguro won't be able to defend his Olympic title , he lost in Japanese trials today in a very controversial match 6-6 to someone called Kiyooka -
nothing, it's not about him. wish him best of luck in European Qualifiers but he just didn't deserve to qualify by virtue of his 6th place in the WR, the 6th place didn't belong to him in a fair world. or any kind of world. ps: in case you don't know what I'm talking about, check the Taekwondo Olympic Qualification thread.

It was a terrible week. we sent a big team and ended up with just 1 quota and even that is in the weight we probably wouldn't prefer. I think 58kg and +80kg looked more possible two weeks ago. I lost count how many matches/rounds we lost in the last 10 seconds. mostly in last 2-3 seconds. I know it happens in this sport but it happened A LOT. there is something wrong with the team. most of them were in terrible shape, I assume changing the coaching system few weeks ago had a very result. Barkhordari got robbed of his chance in the Final GP by those cheaters but he got lucky here. very lucky. he simply walked into the final without even throwing a leg! both his QF and SF opponents were Iranians they simply withdrew (coach's order) and he just had to win one match to qualify.still not a sure thing if he goes to Paris. I believe there will be some trials between him and those other guys who withdrew today I'm somehow glad someone else took the 58kg quota. (and not Woolley) at least this is easier to accept. now the question is who is going to the Asian QT. we had never been there since 2008. I assume 68kg is out of the picture since our #1 and #2 failed the drug test earlier this year (which is still a mystery what happened to them)
-
68kg: Magomedov was the surprise winner, he also takes the quota. (a bit consolation that this quota didn't go back to the 6th guy in the ranking who didn't deserve it at all) 80kg: Barkhordari wins the gold and the quota . he did that with only and only one win ! 57kg: Minina (AIN) won the gold but Luo finished first in GS series despite losing the final. she already has the quota, therefore Lo will get the quota. +67kg: Khan (AIN) won the gold but same as 57kg, that wasn't enough, Xiao finishes first in GS ranking and takes the quota. but keep in mind, nothing is official until WT confirms it
-
OK it's done here are the quotas 68kg: Liang +80kg: AIN Larin 49kg: Akgul (Turkey already has the quota) therefore Quo 67kg: Song (China already has the quota) therefore Gbagbi I highly doubt I'm wrong but nothing is 100% final until WT officially confirms it.
-
nope but it's not hard to find out the finalists so far AIN (RUS) won the +80kg quota. with two Chinese fighters in 67kg final that quota will be transferred to Ruth Gbagbi (6th place in WR) 49kg quota will be between TUR and KOR and (TUR already has the quota) 68kg final is between CHN and CRO and the winner goes to Paris
-
feel sorry for Denmark. that was a tough defeat to swallow, I think they were leading something like 59 minutes in the regular time. but Norway is the best team in the world for a reason.

so 10 out of our 20 athletes made it to the Grand Slam main round. not great but still all of our top guys qualified and that's what matters. now they just have to win 3 or 4 more matches to qualify for Paris in 58 and 68 things are very simple, whoever wins the gold will qualify no matter what. no more calculation needed. but things can get complicated in 80 and +80. hard to predict things though, we still don't have the full list of participants (I'm talking about those 3 prequalified athletes), specially with Olympic Champions Khramtcov and Larin here competing after a while. Mehdi H.Mousaei is absent here, no explanation from our federation but apparently he is still injured. he got robbed of his chance in the Final Grand Prix and most probably won't get a 2nd chance. (even if we fail here I don't think they send him to the Asian Q)
-
at the moment no, but 2 or 3 of your weightlifters are in top 20. and not very far behind the 10th place record. still needs to improve something like 10kg but personally I think anybody in top 15 may qualify eventually. officially top 10 will go to Paris but we know this sport. it's always possible to have last minute injuries, disqualifications, also NOCs are limited to only 3 in each gender which will remove some weightlifters from the list too
-
This, the 6th athlete in the World Ranking will grab the quota
-
1. No, this GS has 25% more value, the previous was supposed to be held in 2022, they treat it like a 2022 event. 2. looks like their GS sponsors are from China. so Yes 3. I assume WT will publish the list (if they ever do) in January but we can already know who is qualified. I have to repeat again, 4 years ago they never published a list of qualified athletes. they probably simply only notified the NOCs. yes, that's a very shitty organization btw I have a hard time to find out which 3 athletes in each weight were exempt from the qualification. WT didn't bother to publish this one as well I just found out FIruza Sadikova (W67) and Nikita Rafalovich (+80) from Uzbek sources, and Firas Katousi (80) from Tunisian sources and I also know Mehran Barkhordari (80) from our team. I can assume Maicon Andrade is another one at +80kg. it was also weird to see Ivan Sapina in the qualifiers, being rank #3 he could be exempt . no idea whey he participated in the qualifiers ?!

in case you didn't see it already http://www.worldtaekwondo.org/competition/view.html?nid=140815&mcd=K14&sc=re

come on, you know he is not an ordinary athlete. you just have to keep him away from behind the wheels the competition is indeed very tough at 89kg, by my count there are at least 5 guys capable of lifting +390kg in Paris but if everybody is healthy nobody beats Karlos. in men's categories he is the 2nd safe gold medal only behind Talakhadze. he only can lose to himself.
-
Karlos Nasar broke another World Record , wasn't he supposed to be injured for a long time ? if he can lift 223kg coming off from an injury, how much he can lift when he is healthy ? and he is still a junior probably it's time for China to think about picking another weight class if they are only interested in gold medals. 89kg gold medal has already found its winner.

Sport Climbing IFSC African Olympic Qualifier 2023
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Sport Climbing
I seriously hope they reject the quota. I mean I'm totally in favor of having all continents represented, but this sport simply doesn't exist in Africa, at least not yet. all male competitors are South Africans !!! and their best result is 7.16!!! how this event is even legitimate with one country competing ? and in the women's side we had 5 from RSA and 1 from MRI who clocked 30 seconds! she may even go to the Olympics with that if RSA rejects the quota. (I assume there is no minimum time required in the qualification rules) -
this guy is trying to explain American people's point of view about killing people

Taekwondo Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Taekwondo
if I remember correctly last time in 2020 WT never published any specific list for qualified athletes. they just published their ranking in early days of January like any other month. so I expect the same this time but you never know. maybe they do a better job this time and yes quotas are 100% confirmed only when they publish the next ranking but I'm 99% sure what I wrote earlier is correct unless they change some scores from past tournaments. (highly unlikely but not impossible) -
Taekwondo Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Taekwondo
It's right but for 1st December, before the final Grand Prix. by my count and if I'm not wrong in their next update which shows who qualified for Paris (Jan 2024) Rafalovich will be 6th and Maicon will be 7th but there is a very small gap (2.21 pts) between them. ps: sometimes WT makes small adjustments for previous tournaments. for example before Tokyo, one of our guys participated in a G1 event specifically to get some points and changes his Olympic seed to avoid Lee Dae-hoon in Tokyo, he won the event and got those points but a month later WT removed them because there was a mistake and he shouldn't be allowed to participate in that event. I'm saying when the gap is less than 10pts it's always better to wait for WT's final update. they usually evaluate the scores near the end of the year. -
Taekwondo Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Taekwondo
he lost in the QF in Pan-Am Games but since they follow a repechage system (not direct elimination), he didn't receive the 5th place points but the 9th place points by my count he has 289, a little lower than Atesli and Rafalovich. -
Taekwondo Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Taekwondo
there are two mistakes here , first that's November's ranking, they published December's ranking today and even with that you can't just add the Final GP points to it. you also have to reduce some points from December 2022, 2021, 2020 and 2019 (no tournament in December 2020 and 2021 because of COVID so it's just 2022 and 2019) so it will be something like this, mistakes are possible specially in those weights I care less about but that's unlikely 58) Jendoubi 446, Vicente 423, Jang 402, Vito 372, Salim 300 / 6th: Woolley 277 68) Rashitov 462, Sinden 438, Recber 420, Zaid MK 403, Perez 367 / 6th: Jin HJ 353 80) Alessio 500, Nicholas 430, Eissa 426, Seo GW 368, Sharabati 368 / 6th: Katousi 312 +80) Cisse 565, Sansores 438, Sapina 376, Cunnigham 330, Atesli 299 / 6th: Rafalovich 291 49) Panipak 650, Dincel 524, Cerezo 522, Stojkovic 440, Souza 370 / 6th: Guo Q 329 57) Luo Z 567, Jones 418, Park 401, Kiani 400, Ilgun 372 / 6th: Lo C.L. 321 67) Chaari 513, Wiet-Henin 479, Al-Sadeq 459, Perisic 361, Zhang MY 342 / 6th: Gbagbi 339 +67) Laurin 527, Kus 439, Lee DB 416, McGowan 388, Ossipova 325 / 6th: Brandl 289 -

sorry but your scores are all wrong this is not how you should calculate it. but the most important thing is the top 5 and they are all correct (the order is not in some weights) -
Taekwondo Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024
MHSN replied to Totallympics's topic in Taekwondo
have to correct myself. they received the visa last night, Saturday evening. after their competition by my count H-Mousaei is only 6pts behind the 6th guy from Ireland. so only 10pts of participation would be enough for him to at least be in 6th place position which I believe in this weight might be enough for the quota. if WT was even half decent they had to give at least those 10pts to the Iranians. but of course I know only certain countries can have those kind of privileges.
