  1. First day Greco-Roman semifinalists 48kg: vs / vs 55kg : vs / vs 65kg : vs / vs 80kg: vs / vs 110kg: vs / vs like freestyle days Iran brought exactly 4 wrestlers to the semifinals. which is more impressive because Greco is more competitive around the world. 3 of them had Russia in QF , we lost just once and that was 6-0 (almost 8-0) lead but the Iranian kid gassed badly in 2nd period and lost 14-6. interestingly there is only one Russian wrestler here.
  2. you mean this line from the other user "And I'm sure lipstick & bikinis wouldn't fly in places like Yemen or Saudi Arabia but nobody calls this xenophobia" well I'm sure Saudi Arabia and Yemen were never different but Iran was a bit different yes, no change for lipsticks though still the same probably much much more but yes of course you can't see bikinis ! (unless you have a private beach) btw why those years ? what happened in middle east in 1915 or 1960 ?!! the only country with a huge overnight change was Iran and in 1979.
  3. that's a terrible news for Iran, now they can't look at the list and see where is Israel to "not participate" that was their policy since Paris Grand Slam. (for example Iran only sent one competitor to Croatia last week because Israel had nobody in that specific weight) so I guess from now we will only see Iranian judokas at the World Championships
  4. actually reading that news from Asian Paralympic Committee was the reason I wrote this here. this is interesting OCA almost never publishes a complete list of failed drug tests, you have to find news about it here and there. btw since Indonesia was the host by any chance, do you have more information about this ? at least how many positive cases we had ? I guess the answer is no but it didn't hurt asking.
  5. yeah there are some other questions. we assume they will consider the ranking for Asia (even that is not a sure thing) I assume this is the same for Oceania but what about Africa ? Karate is a part of African Games but that PDF document only mentions European Games and Pan-Am Games for that purpose. another thing we should consider is that the PDF says the max number is 10 for each weight, we know there will be 4 from the WR and 3 from the OQT + 1 for the host nation. that leaves only 2 quota available for each weight for the continents. the PDF says Oceania is first, then Africa, then Pan-America, then Asian finally Europe. so specially for Asian and European athletes, being the best ranked in their continent is not necessarily enough, if two other athletes from other continents qualify in the same weight. for example the best male athlete from Oceania is Australia in men's 75kg. if this stays this way and also the same for Asia (the best ranked athlete in Asia is Uzbekistan the same weight) there is no chance for Horuna to qualify this way ! the best female athlete from Oceania by quite a margin is New Zealand in women's Kata.
  6. speaking of doping, I recently found out an old news. http://kurashtd.org/new.aspx?id=62 the Asian Games gold medalist in Kurash from Uzbekistan is now banned. still absolutely NOTHING from OCA about the medal reallocating. they didn't even write about such a thing in their website. I contacted Asian Kurash federation and they told me while they suspended the athlete, the rest is OCA business to withdraw the medal and hand it to the silver medalist or not (which was from Mongolia) OCA is also quiet about the early disqualification of the Mongolian wrestler, (they reported that but nothing more) Kyrgyzstan was supposed to receive that gold medal but officially still nothing.
  7. Qualified countries per new WKF Olympic ranking on 1st August Men Kata: 67kg: 75kg: +75kg: Women Kata: 55kg: 61kg: +61kg: checking the ranking, Turkey has realistic chance to qualify in all 8 events through the ranking, at least 6 or 7 is quite possible for them. Qualified athletes in Europe through the ranking and European Games Men's 75kg: Women's +61kg: @phelps I need a little help here. if they want to pick the best Asians through the ranking (since Asian Games is no qualifier unlike Euro Games) what's the tie breaking criteria ? from what I see the best non-qualified Asian athletes are both from Iran, both of them 7th place (55 and 61) so if the qualification period ends today what's the tiebreaking criteria ? the girl with more ranking points ?! in this case it will be Khaksar. Men's 75kg: Women's 55kg:
  8. medalists 3rd day 45kg: 1) McGowan, 2) Arab, 3) Ozbek & Hagverdiyev 51kg: 1) Khaniev, 2) Akhmajanov, 3) Maruyama & Abramov 60kg: 1) Abdulaev, 2) Elahi, 3) Aoyagi & Tashohlo 71kg: 1) Tigiev, 2) Biro, 3) Valipour & Facundo 92kg: 1) Yousefi, 2) Karimov, 3) Tazhi & Gevorgyan Iran lost the team title to Russia in a very stupid way, our 51kg wrestler got disqualified after losing the bronze medal match mostly because he was crying and wasn't listening to the center referee, at the end he came to the mat, shaking hands and etc but still they disqualified him. which was stupid. his 5th place was enough for Iran to win the team title. beside that, we lost 3 matches today despite having the lead in last 10-20 seconds, only one of them could be enough. here is the team ranking 1. Russia 168 2. Iran 166 3. India 106
  9. 2nd day finals 45kg: Mc Gowan vs Arab 51kg: Khaniev vs Akhmajanov 60kg: Elahi vs Abdulaev 71kg: Biro vs Tigiev 92kg: Karimov vs Yousefi --------------------------------------------- medalists 2nd day 48kg: 1) Amouzad, 2) Kadamov, 3) Nishiuchi & Udit 55kg: 1) Jalolov, 2) Veisi, 3) Suganuma & Aman 65kg: 1) Gadzhiev, 2) Tskhovrebov, 3) Kera & Goswami 80kg: 1) Firouzpour, 2) Bagaev, 3) Magamadov & Sahaliuk 110kg: 1) Zasseev, 2) Chikhradze, 3) Misirci & Anirudh bittersweet day for Iran, Firouzpour winning 80kg gold was the best moment of the day, but then Veisi lost the gold in a last second dubious challenge. Habibi lost the bronze to the same guy he beat easily 10-0 few weeks ago in Asia was unbelievable. at the end of the day India ended up winning more medals than anybody else ! and the race for the team title will continue tomorrow. Iran has a small lead after the first medal day but Russia will have 4 in the final tomorrow. but their other wrestler is eliminated while 2 other Iranians still can wrestle for the bronze. even though Valipour only has to pray for Sweden to beat Israel in repechage. even though he deserves nothing after losing to Romania like that. he had a dream draw but blew it.
  10. Second day semifinalists 45kg: vs / vs 51kg: vs / vs 60kg: vs / vs 71kg: vs / vs 92kg: vs / vs Iran and Russia both have 4 wrestlers in the semifinal, it will be close for the team title. I think we will have finalist in 71kg and 92kg , but the other two matches against Azerbaijan will be hard. our 71kg wrestler should be careful because if he loses to Romania there is 50% chance for him to face Israel for the bronze .
  11. I watched lots of matches today. so if you ask me you will win something like 2 bronze medals tomorrow, 55kg and maybe 48 or 65. I don't think there is a chance for your heavier wrestlers, maybe very slim chance for 85. the 48kg was almost in the final but lost it in the last seconds (there were some dubious calls in the match though) and repechage won't be easier for him because of Azerbaijan. I was expecting gold for your 55kg after beating Russia. but well that Uzbek kid was too good. (he is YOG gold medalist)
  12. that turned out to be the only semifinal Iran lost today Habibi had 3pts lead until the last 30 seconds when he gave up a TD and a trapped arm which means two more turns. still not a bad afternoon for Iran, we will have 3 in the final tomorrow. Habibi in bronze medal match and the other guy in repechage. even though he has to beat 3 tough guys for the bronze. here is the finals 48kg: Amouzad vs Kadamov 55kg: Veisi vs Jalolov 65kg: Tskhovrebov vs Gadzhiev 80kg: Firouzpour vs Bagaev 110kg: Zasseev vs Chikhradze I expect 1 gold for Iran, 2 for Russia and 1 for Uzbekistan, and the 80kg final is unpredictable. but I like to think Firouzpour is a bit better.
  13. First day semifinalists 48kg: vs / vs 55kg : vs / vs 65kg : vs / vs 80kg: vs / vs 110kg: vs / vs not a single new "country" for the semifinals. always the same countries in freestyle. it was good for Iran to bring 4 wrestlers to the semifinal, the other kid Motaghi lost narrowly to Azerbaijan just because of one mistake early in the match. semifinals vs USA and Russia will be interesting later today, I hope to see all 4 of them in the final.
  14. Medal table China - 4 / 1 / 3 Japan - 2 / 4 / 1 Thailand - 2 / 2 / 1 Kazakhstan - 1 / 0 / 0 Iran - 0 / 2 / 1 Chinese Taipei - 0 / 0 / 1 Indonesia - 0 / 0 / 1 South Korea - 0 / 0 / 1
  15. Last day Results Men's XCO Elite 1. Ma Hao 2. Kohei Yamamoto 3. Lyu Xianjing Men's XCO U23 1. Temirlan Mukhamediyanov 2. Ali Zohrabzadeh 3. Kim Mino Men's Downhill 1. Methasit Boonsane 2. Hossein Zanjanian 3. Chiang Sheng Shan Women's Downhill 1. Vipavee Deekaballes 2. Siraphatson Chatkamnoed 3. Tiara Andini Prastika
  16. Results from previous days Team Relay 1. China 2. Japan 3. Iran Men's XCO Juniors 1. Issei Matsumoto 2. Sohei Yamaguchi 3. Hong Hang Women's XCO Juniors 1. Wu Zhifan 2. Akari Kobayashi 3. Yonthanan Phonkla Women's XCO U23 1. Rina Matsumoto 2. Natalie Panyawan 3. Urara Kawaguchi Women's XCO Elite 1. Yao Bianwa 2. Yao Ping 3. Li Hongfeng
  17. looks like a great day for Italian sport Water polo, this. also Nibali.
  18. I know some guys who know some guys PS: from Iranian news sources. if you want a name, I don't know who won the gold but China finished 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th in that event. that's for sure.
  19. China finished 1st to 4th in women's competition. so I guess they won the continental quota in this event. the Iranian girl Partoazar finished 5th and therefore no quota for her but at least they won a bronze yesterday in team relay event.
  20. I don't complain because I wanted Italy to win and also take a revenge for what happened last year in Euro semifinal. I'm watching it on Italian TV and they showed that clear goal again before the start of the final but yes if you are neutral you want to see a close battle with drama in a final. I'm sure nobody expected such a domination from Italy. they had hard time against Japan or Germany !
  21. well I think we already can say congrats Italia
  22. Semifinals 3-0 3-1 this is the first final ever for Iran in this competition
  23. probably the only good thing about UWW is they are fast in re allocating medals ! and surprisingly, they are going to give the gold medal to our Komeil Ghasemi ! https://unitedworldwrestling.org/article/ioc-determines-taymazov-fails-london-re-test if I was Russia I would protest the decision. the only reason they are giving it to Ghasemi is because he lost to the gold medalist and Makhov lost to the silver medalist ! to me that's not a good reason to justify the decision. I still think having double gold medalists is a better idea. but now that's Russia's problem not ours
  24. finally Bahrain TV had to show one of Iran's matches, why ? because it was against Bahrain now we have the semis vs vs Italy is clearly the favorite, this is interesting they have a lady as their coach, interesting because something like 90% of women's volleyball teams in the world use male coaches ! I don't think there is a single female coach in Italian Women Volleyball League.
  25. wrestling was giving one bronze but they probably told to themselves, why Judo can and we can't ?! but to be honest when they made it double bronze medals in 2005, I was sure IOC won't let them do that at the Olympics but I was wrong ! lol btw this issue already confused the media here, some reported that Ghasemi is going to receive the gold medal and some said he is going to get the silver. if he gets the gold and assuming Nasirshalal in weightlifting will get that too (gold medalist from Ukraine is under investigation) this will make +3 gold medals for Iran in London Olympics I think no other county wins that number of gold medals in re-testing. even though it's much less than winning the medal in the competition day but at least better than nothing. and if we count those 2 possible gold medals, Iran just needs one more to get into top 10 in the medal table and that was what our current sport minister announced as his long term goal. I think he has more chance to achieve that in past more than future
