  1. Yeah- so either Britain will be stubborn or Mauritius will get it. I hope the latter! Of course we’ll never see a ‘BIOT’ team. It’s a shame such an awesome flag had to be for such a disgraceful territory. And no idea about the flag you posted btw
  2. Machyniakova scored 121.43 IBU Points. So she can start in the World Cup next season
  3. What happened to Alzbeta Majdisova? She had some decent results in the IBU Cup last year.
  4. @Olympian1010 @intoronto Reason it came to mind was I did know a guy from Ascension who told me he was looking into Ascension applying to the Island Games- apparently athletes there used to be considered for St Helena back when Ascension was its dependency (St Helena and Dependencies, it was), but nowadays that seems to have stopped. So that's why I thought it was appropriate to put Ascension and Tristan there, considering the ISO reservation, political status and location as well. Do you think I should remove them?
  5. Has that ever happened? That would be really interesting
  6. That one’s kinda complex. But the Commonwealth Games and Island Games teams only draw from/represent St Helena. And Ascension/Tristan do have their own reserved ISO codes so I put them in. And they’re still represented separately at overseas territory council meetings etc.
  7. Just so y'all know I've changed the purpose of this thread so it's not too narrow. So any breaking news about non-Olympic countries can all go here. And I added flags too!
  8. That’s a good one! But it’s not a true Africa-wide official competition with the best athletes. Most territories I mentioned have done some sport or another. This is about Olympic-level or similar top-level competition.
  9. Yeah but it’s not ever going to happen. Those people got evicted in the 70s and are, well, in their 70s now. Maybe their descendants could take part but they’d never represent the ‘BIOT’, it just represents the injustice. There might be a status change soon anyway so we’ll see what happens.
  10. I made this thread for all discussions, questions and breaking news about countries and territories that aren't IOC members; whether it's Bougainville's attempts to become independent, the Faroe Islands trying to join the IOC, Vatican City's athletics team, or a small island competing in organized sport for the first time. To track where everyone is I made a list here. The list includes all countries and dependencies with some kind of population (going off of ISO codes mostly) and I will be updating it as statuses change. "Competing Internationally" means they're active on an international sporting level – either part of a multi-sport Games or an international sport federation. Countries Competing Internationally: Abkhazia (CONIFA) Niue (Commonwealth Games, World Rugby) Northern Cyprus (CONIFA, WPA) Sahrawi Republic (CONIFA) Somaliland (CONIFA) South Ossetia (CONIFA) Vatican City (UCI, World Taekwondo) Countries Not Competing Internationally: Sovereign Order of Malta Transnistria Territories Competing Internationally: Åland Islands (Island Games) Anguilla (Commonwealth Games, FIFA, World Athletics) Bonaire (CONCACAF) Curacao (CACSO Games, FIFA, FINA) Falkland Islands (Commonwealth Games, ICC) Faroe Islands (Island Games, FIFA, FINA) French Guiana (CACSO Games, CONCACAF) French Polynesia (Pacific Games, FIFA, World Athletics) Gibraltar (Commonwealth Games, FIFA, World Athletics) Greenland (Island Games, IHF, IBU) Guadeloupe (CACSO Games, CONCACAF) Guernsey (Commonwealth Games, ICC) Isle of Man (Commonwealth Games, ICC) Jersey (Commonwealth Games, ICC) Macau (Asian Games, FIFA, World Athletics) Martinique (CACSO Games, CONCACAF) Montserrat (Commonwealth Games, FIFA, World Athletics) Mayotte (Indian Ocean Games) New Caledonia (Pacific Games, FIFA) Norfolk Island (Commonwealth Games, FIBA, World Athletics) Northern Marianas (Pacific Games, AFC, World Athletics) Reunion (Indian Ocean Games) Saba Island (NORCECA) Saint Helena (Commonwealth Games, ICC) Saint Martin (CONCACAF) Sint Eustatius (NORCECA) Sint Maarten (CACSO Games, CONCACAF, FINA) Tokelau (Pacific Games, ITTF) Turks and Caicos Islands (Commonwealth Games, FIFA, World Athletics) Wallis and Futuna (Pacific Games, ITTF) Territories Not Competing Internationally: Akrotiri and Dhekelia Antarctica Ascension Island Bouvet Island British Indian Ocean Territory Christmas Island Clipperton Island Cocos Islands French Southern Lands Heard and McDonald Islands Pitcairn Islands Saint Barthelemy Saint Pierre and Miquelon South Georgia Svalbard and Jan Mayen Tristan da Cunha US Minor Outlying Islands
  11. Everyone seems to diss Patrick Winterton and Mike Dixon lol but I actually really like them. Whatever the case they’re knowledgeable and endearing. Maybe it’s the Scottish accent? (And I met them) Whom I don’t like is the Czech biathlon commentators. They will put you to sleep. No enthusiasm. Other commentators are great though. If an obscure Czech runner makes the quarterfinals of an obscure athletics competition they’re sure to be really happy ?
  12. Fantastic! Now all you have to do is have your men get revenge on the Latvians for the mixed relay
  13. @Werloc is 27th enough for government funding? Lol
  14. @KirkpatrickWatch on Eurovision online. Same commentators but no commercial breaks If you’re in Poland you need a VPN but still https://www.eurovisionsports.tv/ibu/
  15. Moelter hasn’t raced this season. Skeleton is the only Olympic sport we’ve barely ever done (even curling is on the up) so hopefully now there will be more of an interest amongst young people:)
  16. We didn’t invest in anything. Fernstadtova used to be German but switched to the Czechs (she was born in Prague). I’m pretty sure she’s the only serious skeleton racer in the entire country lol
  17. Also @dcro no Croatia on single mix start list
  18. @Monzanator Lukas Sczurek had a faster leg than Fourcade lol
  19. Damn, you made me notice. ?
  20. Mateusz Janik has the best facial hair ever
  21. Hmm try find out
  22. @heywoodu That makes sense I found it in the ‘media’ section. You’re supposed to log in before you see any information but if you ignore and open up the tab options the ‘Quotas’ tab is accessible regardless https://biathlonresults.com/membercenter/
  23. So, @heywoodu- according to the IBU graphic, Brazil has a female quota (since there weren't 10 wildcards filled, I guess?) But then Greenland has two lol. I'm confused. EDIT: So I think it's because Ukaleq and Uiloq and Bruna had the best IBU QPs that weren't under 180 (text says "no wch qualified athletes"). I don't know if this means they have a quota or if it's just the system being weird. Note Anja Ilic from Serbia also has a wildcard, and she's way above 180. Same with Hulgaard and two Bosnians on the men's side (right). Worth looking into?
