  1. 6 medals is a really disappointing result for Germany. Germany should have won at least 9 medals and 5 of them in gold. I hope that german athletes will perform better in Tokyo.
  2. Never heard of that country before, so i just assumed it was in Africa.
  3. Another sensational medal for Africa in javelin throw after Yego and Walcott. I hope this motivates the german athletes for Tokyo. Looking at the past 2 seasons only 1 bronze is super disappointing for Germany.
  4. Very disappointing session for Nigeria, only 1 bronze instead of 1 silver (by Brume) and 1 silver/bronze (by Amusan), also Okagbare and Oduduru were pretty disappointing. Their athletes seem like even bigger chokers than the german athletes.
  5. Vetter not winning gold would be another massive disappointment for Germany, but at this point him not winning a medal seems more likely than him winning gold.
  6. In theory yes, but in reality thats extremely unlikely, i dont think she would have made it past the qualification. By your logic there are also a couple of hundred guys who could have won the marathon here.
  7. There is a good chance in my opinion. After the heat was turned on in Kenya, many of the italian managers/coaches moved to Uganada, so i think Uganada will become stronger in the next couple of years.
  8. Ese Brume is one of my favorite athletes, too bad her federation is such a joke. Maybe there is a chance for Cyprus to naturalize her? I would have liked to see her winning gold, but maybe next year.
  9. She won the U20 european championships with 6.58 m only shortly after turning 17, her name is Larissa Iapichino.
  10. Another african sweep in mens 10000 m, no surprise sadly.
  11. Speed is more important in sprint than in long jump obviously, so drugs that improve your speed are less effective in LJ than in sprint. I also think there are far less doping cases in LJ. Like i said: When you reach that level, you are for sure suspicious, but i dont think that GDR methods had anything to do with her improvement. Today science is much more developed, only athletes in 3rd world countries still have to use GDR methods to dope.
  12. No, for sure this isnt the reason for her improvement. She got better because she got faster. You have to ask yourself how she got faster and doping for sure is a possibility, but if she would have used steroids, she would look very different.
  13. The measuring is really weird here ... Vetter's throw landed before 85 m but they measured 85.37 m?
  14. Yeah, when you reach that level you are suspicious by default. Mihambo, Kaul and Röhler are the least likely to be doped out of all the world class german track and field athletes, but in this day and age noone is beyond any suspicions. Still i would consider a) athletes in jumping events less like to be doped than athletes in track events b) her progression at age 25 more "natural" than Lewandowski's progression at age 32.
  15. When i watch Mihambo here i have a hard time imagining Germany not winning bronze in the 4 x 100 m relay with Mihambo instead of Kwadwo in it. If Germany gets Lückenkemper, Mihambo, Pinto and at least one out of Mayer/Müller/Kwayie healthy into Tokyo, then the european record is toast.
  16. Finally a halfway decent jump by Mihambo, despite giving away 8 cm and having a -0.8 m/s headwind. Now only 1 cm behind Reese's lifetime best. If she would have had the same tailwind as Reese (+1.7 m/s) and would have hit the board, then we might have seen a world record.
  17. Interesting progression by the polish guy, improving his PB by more than 2 seconds at the age of 32. Overall this probably was one of the 5 dirtiest events here alongside mens shot put, womens 400 m, womens 1500 m and mens 100 m.
  18. Would be a fitting end to this competition if the biggest favorite in an individual event (Mihambo) wouldnt even win a medal. If she doesnt win gold here, i dont see her coming back, given how superior she has been the whole season. This would probably break her.
  19. And next year Christian and Sandra Reitz will follow!
  20. Very interesting line-up for Japan, no Cambridge and no Koike. Also nice to see that GB had a white guy in there for some diversity.
  21. What is the role of Renato Canova in your opinion?
  22. Sure, tell that to the clean athletes ...
  23. Who was the girl screaming "Let's go" in the background? Edit: Never mind, it was Justin Gatlin.
  24. Great time for the mixed (half caught/half not caught (so far)) american 4 x 100 m relay!
