  1. That is what I call being well prepared! I will probably set mine for 07:00, enough time to talk myself out of bed for 10 mins and prepare a quick breakfast Yes, I know that feeling.... any time you bring up athletics or Olympic sports in general, people start looking at you as if you've suddenly grown a second head
  2. A very distant outsider these days with his best years behind him now. I know nothing about his preparation this year so I don't have any indication of his form. I am most looking forward to seeing Brendan Boyce, a local athlete.... hoping he can achieve a new PB and keep slowly edging towards the top 10 of this event.
  3. God help us . Not sure if many others would understand why I awake so early on my day off to watch a 50km walk from the start but at least there are one or two of our species in this world
  4. Thanks But let's hope they won't be running as they will be removed from the race We have no chances of course but hoping Brendan Boyce can show a new PB.
  5. It's all about the walks now..... up bright and early with you all, no complaints
  6. British Eurosport commentator before the race....."look out for the Belgian, a big name in this race"...... he was shortly after tailed off the back
  7. I love how so many athletes are attempting doubles this year (even some who don't have much expectations for medals in any). It reminds me of past times when it seemed to be more common place .
  8. Yes, that is why he didn't have his time-trial, it would have been unfair to the opposition Although Barr's PB was set in the glorious sunshine of Rio in the Olympic final last year so I think even he does not like the rain as much
  9. There's always a last moment drama in the women's 400m
  10. Where is Thomas Barr's time trial for the final?
  11. Well van Niekerk does love an outside lane so let's see (he will probably get lane 1 now ).
  12. I think they looked at how comfortable he was and slowing up in last 80m and looking side to side, and in these conditions.... plus his record in the U.S. collegiate system this summer.
  13. And as you were typing this they were saying that athletics has found it's new star after Bolt.... Richards .
  14. The British Eurosport commentators basically hinting at the same..... "having a Bolt moment while watching him", "he will be very tough to beat"..... along those lines. He did look great though
  15. Good luck! Conditions not great for a NR but here's hoping
  16. It was 200m at the Euros in 2002 and the athlete was Paul Brizzel . The sound boom went into his lane during the race and impeded him. So they gave him a time-trial after and he just missed the qualifying time. Unlucky
  17. OMG, I can't believe it! This is a wonderful story and am proud to be part of it....so pleased for Jonty and Art. Yessss!!
  18. Come on Lavillenie, this would be amazing
