  1. So apparently the Youth National Games of China has a curling event, curling-bowls combined event , and curling-floor curling combined event? Am I reading this right @Function CR Lee ?
  2. I was referring to China tho
  3. They have their own version of PM which is called Premier
  4. Rather sad (to be the president), actually. (With the exception of China where it is the other way round )
  5. Finally! Asia might have to wait another 30 years
  6. Thanks! Still wondering why BWF don't just explain it at the first hand lol
  7. Well anyway, I'm not really sure whether it is true or not (Foo Kune's visa was rejected). A redraw is only possible if there is mistake in online registering or not following the draw rules (country separation, etc.). So if Foo Kune is really unable to attend, she should be simply replaced with a reserve player. Seems like there is a fatal thing and BWF tried to make up some bad excuse, which the Indonesian official had said?
  8. "mistakenly been included"
  9. Is it? In Indonesia one official said that Kate Foo Kune was unable to get her visa accepted
  10. I just need a 2-minute walk on public holiday to see boys about 17 constantly falling trying to do a basic jump without protective pads
  11. Does it also include ball badminton?
  12. We don't have a state-defined national sport nor a regional sport.. But this is the pattern when you ask Indonesians about national sport: Football, yeah the eleven-a-side game is obviously popular in term of following and fans. It comes in package with supporter boxing Badminton, often erroneously cited as the national sport. The best sport in term of competitiveness and success, on term of participation maybe neck-to-neck with football. Not as popular as it used to be but the Asian Games really skyrocketed the TV ratings. Pencak silat, often called the national support because it is (said that) originated from the country. However I can guarantee 11 out of 10 people you ask in the streets won't know how the scoring of tanding (the kumite/kyorugi equivalent) works. Only followed during National Games or SEA Games. Sepak takraw is also regarded as the native sport (however once again, the claim was disputed and questionable) and once again people only watch during the National Games, SEA Games, or Asian Games. Some region also have their traditional sporting activities such as: Fahombo, a coming-of-age native ritual for teenage boys in Nias Island where they must able to jump over a 2 meter stone structure. (when I was younger I've always thought the Nias people should fare well in Olympic high jump) Pathol, a beach-wrestling game originated in Rembang used to find a fit soldier to guard port of Tuban. Tarung Derajat, a kickboxing style combat sport developed by Haji Ahmad Drajat from West Java, hence the name. (it is a demonstration sport in 2011 SEA Games)
  13. 2019 BWF World Championships Draw
  14. Total blackout in Jakarta and surrounding areas, fortunately the MRT emergency doors worked
  15. We are not "Muslim country" but "predominantly Muslim country". There. Stop the generalization.
  16. Interestingly even Muslims themselves are even affected... My friends often complained that their parents or relatives have "gone mad". During Ramadan some areas created a prohibition to open food stalls during fasting time, causing some women having period or those who are not fasting for other reasons suffered.. they need to walk further to find someone selling food. Interestingly, KFC, McDonalds and other western fast food chain were untouched by this regulation... the small food stalls by the street were the ones affected, ironically most of the owner are Muslims...
  17. Well it is not exaggerated, it IS what happened. One of popular stuff years ago in TV were drags or effeminate men. Now everything is banned, content like that are now only in Youtube. Some cities did "gay raids"... There is a viral case where a woman chastised a man for hugging another man who is driving a motorcycle. They were later revealed as... siblings Also another viral case where a woman confronted a girl wearing "rainbow LGBT pin"... it is actually UN Sustainable Development Goals pin. People are really paranoid of LGBT related stuff. Many believed that LGBT is a disease cause by djinn possession, so need to be healed by ruqyah (Islamic exorcism). Yes the the face of tolerant Indonesia is tarnished by those from Hizbut Tahrir (now banned in the country) and Saudi sponsored clerics, they spread hatred and even will readily teach their followers label moderate Muslims as infidels. The trend of growing intolerance and strange religious based trends (e.g: vaccination and birth control pills are haram, women who became subject of poligamy will go to heaven, flat earthers, cleaning of own's house after visited by non Muslim, etc.) is amazing for the last 10 years.
  18. Let's see whether Canada can sweep 5 badminton gold or not. I predict only four, with Canada losing in MS
  19. Well our TV screen all broadcasted 7.4
  20. 7.4 earthquake in Banten, Indonesia Definitely the worst earthquake I've ever felt
  21. Exactly, the creators might think: "Who the heck in this world want to play as Sao Tome Principe or Tuvalu?" Well, I do!
  22. Not even a chance Unless it involves Indonesian athletes or we got reallocated medals, I think no one really cares in Indonesia
  23. In the other hand, Asian Paralympic Committee has reallocated some medals after two Uzbek athletes were disqualified for doping... They work faster and more responsive than OCA
  24. Today the Province of Papua launched the logo and mascots for Indonesian National Games. The bird mascot is a revived version of rejected original Asian Games mascot (with the same name), the other mascot is tree-kangaroo. What is funny for me the rings of the logo never really stayed the same in each editions. Originally three red rings, it suddenly changed to Olympic rings, then red-yellow-green rings, suddenly six rings, and now back to the tricolor but upside down The logo is based on the facade of the main stadium (which is also the same "origin" for the Asian Games logo, I wonder where creativity had gone)
