    For the "history books", this is currently the status of the national selection/registration before the new host reopens the selection. Debuting countries (1): Returning countries (3): (A2017), (O2013), (O2017) Countries who participated at O2019 and have not yet confirmed the participation (10):

    In the middle of all drama I forgot to reply to this. Yeah, she's American, but you are definitely not the first person to make that kind of mistake. Her name is throwing people off.

    Hm.... after thinking about this a bit more, I think we should restart the selection relatively soon, like in 4-5 days, (which would be 2 weeks long according to the rules) and have the Grand Finale somewhere in March. I mean, it would probably better to have the Finale in May to avoid some of the OQT events, but we already have a lot of songs selected, and it would be unfair to make those countries wait for so long.

    lol, you weren't kidding that we are still really early compared to previous years. The date of the Annual Grand Finals: 4th June 2016 29th April 2017 28th April 2018 4th May 2019

    Well, this contest sure took a dramatic turn. So what's next? Will we give the hosting rights to Croatia or the US?

    I mean, I am more afraid of Netherlands, we barely beat them at the Euros in Budapest. Italy on the other hand didn't look so strong at the ECh, but maybe they will improve for the OQT.

    Well, let's just hope that we will do the same thing that we did in women's Table Tennis, and we will steal the quota from the OQT host.

    Hungarian media report that there will be QFs. So this is a bad draw for us, because we will have to defeat Netherlands or Italy for the Olympics in the SF.

    Well, at least the contest feels completely open so far with no clear frontrunners. Or maybe I am wrong. It's not like I am good at predicting TISC, I would have never guessed that the Dutch song will in Open 2019. I mean, we don't have any worldwide hits so far. The US was merciful and didn't send Old Town Road or one of the Billie Eilish songs.

    Yeah... I am pretty sure we are fucked in men's epee, but we kinda deserve it, because we couldn't reach the Top8 at the WCh and 2 World Cup events. I think Korea will kick Ukraine out of the Top4, and that will be it for us, no matter how well we will perform at the last event.

    In men's epee we will have to root for Japan against Russia in the QF because I just can't see us beating France for the second consecutive WC event, that just sounds too good to be true.

    Meanwhile Ukraine couldn't even reach the Top16, so this can be the end for them.

    Canada must be really happy about this. They will have a pretty great chance to qualify if the US beats Hong Kong.

    I am sure you can still register. This would be the first time that Israel participates in this contest.

    No, I meant that YouTube literally doesn't let it to be added to any playlist because for some reason that lyrics video was labeled as "content for children" and those videos aren't allowed to be in playlists. Don't ask me why.

    China withdrew from the OQT because of the Coronavirus. This means that Kazakhstan will be in our group, with Serbia, Hungary and Russia. I wouldn't be surprised if Hong Kong and Thailand won't take this opportunity to participate in the OQT with Norway, Montenegro and Romania. I mean, the coronavirus is also there. And you know what that means? Germany is about to get really lucky.

    @bestmen I think you should use this video for the Chinese song because the one you linked can't be added to playlists.

    That was 8 years ago and we all know how some countries don't take the ECh seriously before the Olympics if they have already qualified. And sadly, I don't see any signs that the lesser European nations are getting any better in men's water polo.

    And let's not forget: at least in women's water polo we don't need a miracle for a non-European medalist team, because the US and Australia can beat any European team. The women's tournament feels like an international competition, not just the tournament of Ex-Yugo, Mediterranean countries, plus Hungary.

    Men's water polo isn't any different. Hungary, Serbia, Spain, Italy, Croatia, Montenegro and Greece all have a really easy time to qualify because the rest of the European nations have no chance whatsoever to beat them. And they still have 12 teams at the Olympics.

    And in same Olympic cycle they got the silver medal at the 2018 ECh. They can beat any of the other 3 teams and I wouldn't be surprised at all if they qualify.

    We are talking about a team that got annihilated by everyone at the last World Championship except for the Korea team who started playing water polo just a couple of months before the WCh. It's absolutely ridiculous that they will be at the Olympics. This is like if Africa would get a default quota in the team fencing events, no matter how they perform at the WCh and World Cup events.
