  2. If that's Olasz in the lead, this is yet another sign after the ECh that she's a medal contender in Tokyo.
  3. Jesus, that damn Coca-Cola incident is inescapable, the commentators had to mention it even at this event.
  4. For what it's worth, which isn't much, now Italy is clearly the strongest looking team of the group stage. But who knows what comes in the KO rounds.
  5. This is still the least TV friendly Olympic event, it's really hard to tell what's going on.
  6. It's a shame that the equalizer was from an error, but something like that was bound to happen in such an exhausting match for us. Other than that this is an absolutely amazing achievement from our team, in this group one point means just as much as the qualification to the next round 5 years ago.
  7. Well, this is certainly something. I have no doubts about that France will turn things around, but this first half is already way more than anyone could have hoped for, we aren't wasting the opportunity that France is creating for us by being quite lackluster today (maybe because of the warm weather?).
  8. Many of our strongest athletes are skipping this, we pretty much sent the "B team" with a few exceptions.
  9. It's one of the hottest days of the summer here and the match will be played at 15:00. I mean, the temperatures aren't crazy high, but it will be around 32-33 Celsius during the match. When I step outside it feels like I am in an oven, so it won't be great for the players. And I hope that the match won't turn into a historical defeat. The biggest defeats ever at the EUROs are 5-0 / 6-1, I hope France won't break that today.
  10. Here's something interesting: Hungarians have qualified in 25 disciplines which is actually a new record for us (the previous was 24 in Barcelona and Atlanta). We qualified in 20 disciplines in Rio. We dropped one discipline (Diving) and added six (Handball, Cycling Road, RG, Taekwondo, Canoe Slalom, Karate).
  11. Nagy Péter kvótát szerzett súlyemelésben. 25 sportágban van magyar sportoló, ami magyar rekordnak számít az Olimpiák történetében. Rio Tokyo Diff Athletics Marathon/RW 8 2 -6 Badminton 1 2 +1 Boxing 2 1 -1 Canoe Slalom - 1 +1 Canoe Sprint 15 17 +2 Cycling Mountain Bike 1 2 +1 Cycling Road - 1 +1 Diving 1 - -1 Fencing 9 10 +1 Gymnastics Artistic 2 1 -1 Gymnastics Rhythmic - 1 +1 Handball - 14 +14 Judo 8 7 -1 Karate - 1 +1 Modern Pentathlon 4 4 Rowing 3 1 -2 Sailing 5 4 -1 Shooting 8 4 -4 Swimming Marathon 3 1 -2 Table Tennis 3 5 +2 Taekwondo - 1 +1 Tennis 2 3 +1 Triathlon 4 4 Water Polo 26 24 -2 Weightlifting 1 1 Wrestling 8 6 -2 114 118 +4 Athletics 11 6 -5 Swimming 34 22 -12 159 146 -13
  12. It has been quite apparent for me (and should be anyone who paid attention in the last few years) that Dressel will go under 50 and will also likely swim close (if not break) the 100 fly world record. Milák has no chance whatsoever unless he can potentially break the current world record and even that might not be enough because Dressel is just too fast for him. I mean, there's a good chance Dressel can even go under 49 in Tokyo, Milák has never even went under 50. We are very likely winning 1 gold medal in swimming and a couple of silver and/or bronze, which is still better than what we got in Athens and Beijing.
  13. Ref had enough of this shit. Two really bad matches and I don't have much hope for the third one.
  14. That's an unexpected win against Spain from us after two defeats against Russia and Canada, I am not sure what to think about our team at this point. Hopefully we can win the SF, a World League final would be a great way to prepare for the Games.
  15. Apparently there's a chance that the final will be moved to Budapest: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/40b2fd72-cf9e-11eb-9bfa-a3bc386e6928?shareToken=4574018f006a808f737b66d902123805
  16. Yeah, Denmark will have an easier route to the SF than Belgium if they will beat Russia. Looking at that weak Belgian defense, maybe it would have been better for them to avoid Italy with a defeat today.
  17. Not to take anything away from Denmark who are doing great, but that was a shockingly terrible first half from Belgium, it's like they aren't even on the pitch. Their "golden generation" has never looked this weak.
  18. Ukraine can be the dark horse that people expected Turkey to be, too bad that they are most likely playing against Italy in the Round of 16.
  19. I must say I had doubts about how much we will use this new rule, but it looks like Hüttner (our coach) isn't afraid about that our athletes will be tired by the last few days. It will be interesting to see if Germany will also do something similar or they will submit one boat per event.
  20. The Hungarian Olympic team MC1 1000m: Balázs Adolf, Dániel Fejes MC2 1000m: Balázs Adolf & Dániel Fejes MK1 200m: Sándor Tótka, Kolos Csizmadia MK1 1000m: Ádám Varga, Bálint Kopasz MK2 1000m: Kornél Béke & Ádám Varga MK4 500m: Bence Nádas, Bálint Kopasz, Kolos Csizmadia, Sándor Tótka WC1 200m: Kincső Takács, Dóra Horányi WC2 500m: Balla Virág & Kincső Takács WK1 200m: Dóra Lucz, Anna Kárász WK1 500m: Danuta Kozák, Tamara Csipes WK2 500m: Danuta Kozák & Dóra Bodonyi, Tamara Csipes & Erika Medveczky WK4 500m: Anna Kárász, Danuta Kozák, Tamara Csipes, Dóra Bodonyi As you can tell, with the exception of MK2 1000m we entered two boats where it was possible. Danuta Kozák and Tamara Csipes will compete in 3 events.
  21. I have no idea what are the current rules for this. I assume that it's quite easy to track down who's responsible for the sign and then ban them, which should be enough for UEFA. I would be shocked if they can't, it's a big international tournament in 2021, for security reasons they must monitor everything people on the stands do.
  22. Fuck, I think there's a chance that we will play without fans against England at the World Cup qualifiers.... https://theathletic.com/news/uefa-hungary-homophobia-euro-2020/HjLHn1O6pB0t This was bound to happen, the match was played on the same day when the parliament voted in favor of the anti-LGBT law. And ofc every time the West will punish Hungarians (and therefore Orbán) for this, Orbán's support will grow here.
  23. First round for the hosts: matches won: 3 matches lost: 5 draws: 1 I wonder if in later rounds it will help the hosts that they won't have to travel between matches, but right now this tournament isn't going well for them for the most part.
  24. We held on to that 0-0 way longer than what I expected. The only thing I am pissed about is that the first one was such an unlucky goal, if the third Portuguese goal was the first one, I couldn't complain about anything.
  25. This might be the ugliest, worst match I have ever seen, but that's why we are not losing right now. But yeah, there's no way that we can keep this at 0-0, and it's painfully obvious that our offense is nonexistent without Szoboszlai and Kalmár.
