  1. That's good to hear. It wouldn't be the first time someone competed for their parents/grandparents country.
  2. Are the Portuguese athletes Brazilian competing for Portugal?
  3. Pretty much, we'll be around 5 athletes above the max quota once all is over so the impact of FINA not honouring their qualification procedure will only impact a handful of athletes.
  4. In typical years, most of those 12 World Champs qualifiers would also compete at the World Cup so a lot fewer than 18 would qualify, but because of COVID many athletes which already qualified did not attend thus allowing a larger number to qualify at the World Cup.
  5. Unfortunate for Canada... United States and Dominican Republic are better (on paper) than Venezuela. I was hoping for us to at least make the final tournament.
  6. Looks like they are trying to change their rules, I hope they are getting their lawyers ready.
  7. A quick look at the rankings and I found Haggar Elbestawy who competed at the 2018 African Championships. Wait, that means Egypt will be forced to decline the quota because no one has at least 10 UCI Points in the March 3rd 2020 or May 31st 2021 rankings. That means the quota will go to Germany.
  8. No, three quotas on the women's side must be declined and then Aruba will qualify through reallocation.
  9. Men's Race - 3 - 3 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 (Africa quota) - 1 (Individual quota) - 1 (Individual quota) - 1 (Individual quota) - 1 (World Champs Reallocation) - 1 (World Champs Reallocation) - 1 (Host quota) Women - 3 - 3 - 2 - 2 - 2 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 - 1 (Africa quota) - 1 (Individual quota) - 1 (Individual quota) - 1 (Individual quota) - 1 (World Champs Reallocation) - 1 (World Champs Reallocation) - 1 (Host Reallocation)
  10. No, the qualification period won't end until the end of June
  11. Weird that they didn't give the world quota to Pan American nations yet...
  12. Yeah, there's a good chance Canada may only be behind Japan, United States, Australia and China in terms of the number of athletes competing.
  13. Sadly ISSF did not tell us which events have priority in the case where a nation is eligible for more than one quota. I suspect it'll be the same as for the World Rankings, but I'm not sure how they will go by gender (interchanging male/female, interchanging female/male, all male first or all female first)
  14. Forgot about the continental requirements. I think Germany misses out in both genders. Russia (men) and Canada (women) lose their ranking quota to South Africa/Egypt. They then qualify through the individual rankings, pushing out Japan/Germany. Japan will keep its host quota and thus pushes out Germany for the men while Belgium outranks Germany in the women and gets to keep their quota. Of course if by replacing the lowest ranked nation happens at the end then it will be Germany/Belgium
  15. We will likely get crushed by Russia, but at least we weren't embarrassed and missed the quarterfinals.
  16. That is incorrect, the individual rankings are based on the March 3rd 2020 individual rankings. For the men it will go to and for the women it will go to . Aruba lost out by one place. The reallocation of the world champs (and host quota) goes to for men and for women.
  17. They will be reallocated to the rankings (note the individual ranking holds priority)
  18. I won't be adding wild cards for athletics and swimming as they were not decided by the tripartite commission. As for those wild cards, they are not reliable as technically a different athlete from that continent could score a higher world ranking in a different event and take the quota.
  19. Not off the top of my head... Usually if you are good enough to medal, you are good enough to qualify normally. The most likely sport for this to happen would be taekwondo (and karate if it ever returns) due to the low number of overall quotas.
  20. I'm okay with a universality qualification tournament, but only if it was something like a 16-team tournament.
  21. No, to prevent 5x5 players from just showing up and overrunning the regular competitors, FIBA made a rule stating athletes must compete in a minimum number of events.
