  1. I suppose so, but this is the first time I remember it happening. Usually there are squad selection races in most countries and always a Summer World Championship at least, even in an Olympic season.
  2. More info here, including vital mascot update - Ola the Orca Killer Whale, a species which errrmmm... fulfils a vital ecological niche by keeping the Islands' population of ultra-cute baby seals in check. Also in small pieces. Orkney Island Games: Everything you need to know - BBC News
  3. Just having a quick look round for Summer Biathlon this year, and it seems we're a bit short. No World Championships & no FourcadeFest from France. August 6-9 Blink Festival Norway, usually on NRK October 18-19 Stadium event from Munich on Biathlon World etc Anything else?
  4. Pogačar 15 secs up at First Intermediate Oi oi not over yet as Evenepoel puts in a burst on the second leg. Evenepoel posts big lead at the clubhouse & so we wait. Vauquelin now guaranteed the most annoying intrusive media attention.
  5. Big friendly match in Edinburgh this evening - Hibernian v Rot Weiss Essen, marking the 70th anniversary of the first ever European Cup in 1955, when Hibs won 5-1 on aggregate. Plenty of fans enjoying a sunny day in Edinburgh just now.
  6. Oscar Onley into White! 2027 Tour will very likely pass through his home town - it's one of the very regular venues on Scottish stages of world class races.
  7. More messy sprinting & crashes, but Merlier just gets Milan on the line.
  8. Saturday: River Seine in Paris is open for public swimming for the first time since 1923! Sunday: River Seine in Paris is closed for public swimming because of....umm....errr.....well.....you know.....the usual reasons. River Seine closed to swimmers one day after historic opening
  9. What do I know, the late 4 cat climbs have broken things up...... GC battle! MvdP!
  10. Dried out now so looking like a big sprint. Don't think the roads here lend themselves to echelons like yesterday but maybe.....
  11. Incidentally, if you are looking for free & legit TdF streaming, it's on here. One small snag is that it is in , but if you start watching now I'm sure you'll work it out well before we get to Paris. https://m.youtube.com/@S4C/streams
  12. Monaco next up on Friday night. Usually the best one-night meet of the year, but will struggle to match Eugene yesterday.
  13. Rainy, slippy day today, so probably safety first among the big names.
  14. 16k to go & we have echelons! Serious gaps appearing! 3 big groups & they ain't coming back!
  15. Lordy, two big names abandon already - Ganna & Bissegger
  16. I vote : many different cultures, all good. People say that after 1 week in you are desperate to find any kind of Chinese, Indian, Mexican or whatever. And I would put Lyon above Paris. Definitely cheaper, au moins.
  17. Off we go and.......we get a breakaway & peleton apathy.
  18. Worrying story here - let's hope it all works out. Ciara Mageean: European champion and two-time Olympian diagnosed with cancer - BBC Sport
  19. Article is being very discreet about how they define "all-time" Since one of the main datasources is space satellites I'm thinking "all-time" is probably equivalent to "The flared trousers epoch" or so.
  20. MP World Cup Final from Alexandria this weekend. Full coverage of all events on both YT and the Olympic Channel Friday - Women's Semis Saturday - Men's Semis Sunday - The Two Finals I notice we have had no team or relay events this year - don't know if this is intended to be permanent, or is just a temporary thing to allow the new format to get settled down. UIPM – World Pentathlon - YouTube
  21. Also, will all be on Discovery Plus, which makes life easy.
  22. Next big FTA meet will be from France tomorrow night. Also, lots of national Age-Group Championships, getting ready for the two Euro Champs coming up a few weeks - Live Streaming - Meeting Stanislas Nancy | European Athletics
