  1. There’s a new Russian guy in the WC whose name literally means Shooter - Streltsov.
  2. Geez, sad news....Mickaela Shiffrin’s father was killed in a domestic accident this week. Just awful for her, TV cameras always focussed on her mother but seemingly her father also travelled with her to her races, and knew lots of people on the Tour.
  3. World Indoor Tour moves on to Toruń, Poland tonight. https://www.worldathletics.org/news/preview/torun-copernicus-cup-preview-2020 There might be live coverage here. All in , but everyone knows that it’s a very easy language to learn. https://sport.tvp.pl/46534985/orlen-copernicus-cup-w-toruniu-transmisja-w-tvp-sport-transmisja-na-zywo-stream-gdzie-ogladac-kiedy-zawody
  4. For those of us in the UK, all the Team GB matches are on the Freesports Channel as usual, which is also streamed on the STV streaming app if you can’t get the Digital Channel.
  5. One of sport’s great mysteries is why the world’s skating & field hockey super-power is so verschrikelijk when the two are combined. The only thing they are worse at is penalty shootouts.
  6. Filip Ingebritsen gets a 3:36.32 WL in the 1500m, will hold it until his brother Jakob runs his first race of the season.
  7. Well, that and the Russians being caught doping a lot more than anyone else.
  8. Redgrave’s medal was in the Four.
  9. Well Steve Redwood won an Olympic Gold in rowing as a diabetic, there are diabetic professional soccer players, there is or was an-all diabetic pro cycling team in the States etc etc.
  10. There’s plenty of people with diabetes & many other manageable conditions who benefit from TUEs. Are you saying they should be thrown out of top-level sport just because a minority abuse the rules? Hardly fair, the solution is to amend the rules to prevent abuse - only neutral doctors can prescribe, renewals are not automatically granted, statistics are published at year end etc etc.
  11. Just a reminder World Indoor Tour III tomorrow from Dusseldorf, live on Eurosport. https://www.worldathletics.org/competitions/world-athletics-indoor-tour/news/dusseldorf-world-indoor-tour-preview-2020 Looks like the best meet so far.
  12. I am sure there is one tiny village shop deep in the forests of Oregon that has an amazing selection of shoes. Similarly a village shop way up beyond the Norwegian Arctic Circle full of cross-country skis, another deep in the Black Forest that sells luges etc etc.
  13. Oi, Talay DQF she should know better!
  14. OK, it should be normal that young athletes improve every year in the early indoor season but it is always good to see.
  15. Mahuchikh 2.02 WR U20!
  16. There you go, NR for Salome Lang , 1.93 in the HJ. Must be cursing her luck with no World Champs...
  17. Oh sure, but it was only on US TV and expensive Pay Streaming. Could have mentioned also the Scottish National Championships last weekend. N But this is the first meet everyone gets to see. Should say also that this year’s performances do not count towards the postponed Worlds - clock will reset next January.
  18. Europeans (Torun, Poland) will be rescheduled with a two-week gap between them and the Worlds to give athletes the chance to double up. We have live international athletics on TV for the first time in 2020 tonight! The Karlsruhe meet is on ES in about an hour, Dusseldorf meet also live on ES on Tuesday.
  19. Seemingly, because of the shortage of snow they had built a really complicated twisting looping course and he wasn’t the only one to get confused. We have seen people lose medals because of this before.
  20. Nico Walter’s crew trashed about €20,000 worth of kit.
  21. Oh dear, Kuehn 0 for 5.
  22. It’s no fun if everyone hits everything!
  23. My favourite example of this is the St Jan’s Kerk in Gouda. On one side you have a set of stained glass windows celebrating His Catholic Majesty King Phillip II of Spain defending the One True Apostolic Faith against those those heathen heretical dogs, the rebellious hell-bound Calvinistic zeeguezen, the Dutch. One the other side, a set of stained glass windows celebrating the heroic divinely-inspired Dutch burgers defending the noble cause of religious liberty against that bloodthirsty tyrant and enemy of popular freedom, King Phillip II of Spain.
