  1. Some great photos here. Huge crowds for the tug-of-war! https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/olympics/article-9717173/Tokyo-Olympics-bizarre-Olympic-sports-history-Games-approach.html Reflects a traditional Anglo-saxon distrust of race walking although, like so many other sports, we actually invented it. The swimming obstacle course has almost got its own emoji!
  2. I guess since France is not involved in the Women's football they didn't want to show it. I think all the national host broadcasters like France 2 have only a limited number of hours (around 300) they are permitted to show? That will be the reason.
  3. Like I said, the national host Broadcasters have the rights until year end. After that they revert to the IOC, and so will eventually get onto the Olympics TV Channel, yes.
  4. Baseball stadiums famous for junk food, the bear obviously expected a nice quiet search through the trash.
  5. Am impressed by Zambia’s commitment to the offside trap, even though it has never worked once.
  6. It’s no good trying jokes here mate, someone is bound to take it literally.
  7. Already a big bummer for the Land of Hope & Glory today with the news about Amber Hill. Only tiny consolation is that shooters can have longer careers than other Olympic athletes, so she will have other chances. But she was definitely one of our highest-ranked athletes globally. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/57917553
  8. I doubt they’ll be uploading much more than a daily highlights package or maybe backstage features, interviews with medal winners & other secondary material. Not any real coverage. They’ve sold the rights, exclusive till year end.
  9. The thing about baseball & softball is that it’s very hard to predict what happens when the pitchers change, so there is always that chance. That said, if the USA stick with those two it’s hard to see many runs being scored against them.
  10. Exactly. A few years back they said they would not look at bids from second-string cities, they only wanted big global mega cities. Well, how's that working out?
  11. I believe his name is Ryle Nugent.
  12. Yeah, was just an early glitch. First 20 mins had no comms & I was stressing! But checking some of the other tracks, not all are working.
  13. Here's Version 2.0 of my Olympic Excel scheduler. Now incorporating heat and semi final time data for all the major sports like athletics, swimming, rowing, canoe sprint.... NOT incorporating highly volatile data like the full boxing, badminton, table tennis draws, though. Tokyo Olympics time calculator Version 2.xls
  14. Choice of 7 different languages on ES.
  15. During the innings breaks, the English language comms shut up. The Italians talked even faster! B
  16. Bases loaded, looking at an early bath.
  17. Could gave been a lot worse for Mex, but pretty bad.
  18. One thing we need is a pitch speed gun, these look like rockets.
  19. have switched to Italian comms! & Nutella for breakfast.
  20. Was thinking that. 4 teams out of six will play for a medal, ITA definitely look better than AUS.
  21. They were playing “Sugar Baby Love” by the Rubettes, couldn’t believe it! USA had to work, but manufactured the run.
  22. Well, like I said, there’s a usually lot more going on in softball than in baseball & a lot less staring into space.
