Just catching up…! I appreciate the frustration when we’ve been so close but some of the sentiment and obsession with gold is a disappointing read. Writing off our athletes achievements particularly when they’ve medalled regardless takes away from the fact that our athletes are actual people. People who have made huge sacrifices, managed a thousand other commitments and have still put in a shift of a lifetime for Team GB. I shall leave this here! Yesterday’s atmosphere at the QFs was electric and made me so proud to be part of the hockey family. We’ve got one hec of a great sport, and long may it continue

Technically you’re not wrong. Stalwart coach Danny Kerry has stepped down from initially taking up the role of performance director for England Hockey (obvs not GB but has major impact on how we go internationally). However I’d challenge your negativity and see this as a fresh start for the squads. There’s time to build on what we have which isn’t terrible and look to bring in more talent. I mean I’m sure you were surprised as I was about some of the selection choices particularly on the women’s side so onwards and upwards!!

Phenomenal. India fought to the beyond the whistle, and that last play. Spectacular. What. A. Match.

Medals aside I’m just not going to be ok without a constant buffet of sport to watch next week. There’s been fantastic performances and heroic moments aplenty so far (triathlon, mountain biking and todays poison of skateboarding to name a few!) and I shall just be here savouring the next five days!

Went absolutely feral. Best they’ve played all tournament and a better outcome than I was expecting. I’ll take the joy of having the Dutch at 1-1 for a lot of a quarter and watching my team score a goal at the Olympics!!!
