  1. Ahh, thank you Well, thats not good
  2. Interesting the women didn’t race the team pursuit. I presume it was cause Blondin couldn’t do triple duty and TP was odd one out
  3. Definitely. Development has been a disaster on the singles side. Skipchuk really rode a wave that wasn’t his making, getting the job just as Chan and Virtue/Moir were about to break out and as the Feds were pouring in money.
  4. Skaters country hopping isn’t unusual when they need a partner, especially when they’re younger and/or low ranked. LFB formerly skated for Denmark. Our top current teams are both half American (Gilles and Stellato)… our team of Lauriault/La Gac used to skate for France… Lilah Fear of Fear/Gibson is Canadian… Allison Reed is American but seems to skate for a new country every other year… and its impossible to even keep up with all the former Russians floating around Edit: Only 2 of the top 9 ID teams last year were both from the same country … and at least half or more of the pairs teams are the same. It’s just the reality of the disciplines
  5. Probably just because of the training cycle and upcoming Worlds… but nice to know Stolz is human after all
  6. Great to see Strate figure things out this last week! She seemed to be really struggling to get into the top ten much of the year Edit: Maurer also nearly cracked the top 20 with a big second jump to finish 21st. Good day for the Canadians all around
  7. The invite probably comes with cross country skis and a couple poles… let them figure it out
  8. I guess it makes it makes as much sense as trying to frankenstein an old track in less than two years
  9. Historically they seem to like to schedule the hockey final for 1pm local on the last day (2010, and 2018 had it at 1pm, and 2022 was noon) as the last event... but for 2014 it looks like they played it at 4pm local Closing Ceremony always goes at 8pm. So 4pm is probably as late as they'd consider
  10. I wish we had trials a year early and let the teams properly plan their seasons and prepare for the Olympics Making them play the tournament of their lives, then pour whats left on a plane headed halfway around the world to play for medals hasn’t been working well lately I guess at least they’re doing it that way for doubles now
  11. CBC posted the SkiMo test event on their Youtube Interesting getting a preview of the venue, probably a pretty good idea of how the mixed relay race will go next year too Seems like Canada's qualification hopes will rest on beating the US for the continental spot. We're not far behind in the standings. Would have actually been really close if we didn't get a penalty in the final, actually beat them to the line just barely for 11th, but then Poland and Canada got 10s penalties, so US ended up 10th and we ended up 12th
  12. I noticed she didn't compete in Ljubno either. Maybe she took a break after Lake Placid, and is heading straight to Norway?
  13. Not sure I'd go that far just yet, but certainly looks a lot better than it did two weeks ago. After Nove Mesto maybe, if we can finish ahead of Kazakhstan in the last full relay I'll be feeling very good
  14. For the women, Paradis had a decent opening leg. Rousseau got ate up a bit on the second. Moser had a bit of a nightmare standing shoot and that was the end of their day. Interesting they back loaded the women's team like that. Maybe looking to give Lunder a little extra rest in case she gets into the mass start? France utterly crushed everyone For the men, Kazakhstan started the race with 3 penalty laps on the first shoot. Tough to come back from that, finished 23rd. Pletz has a decent opening leg, though it helped the field took it easy the first two laps. Runnalls struggled a bit, and Connelly really really struggled skiing, and Borglum just barely managed to not get lapped (could see him in the foreground of one shot of JT Boe hamming it up on his victory lap). Adds another 60 points to Canada's Nations Cup lead on Kazakhstan, which now stands at 113. Points still at play in 6 races.
  15. Single Mixed Relay went today, Lunder and Runnals doing the honours. Finished 18th. So, not great. Shooting was ok, but ski speed struggled a bit, Lunder seemed to struggle as the race progressed. Waxes have been a challenge for a lot of teams. Good news is they beat KAZ, and netted another 30 points in that battle to qualify a men's team for 2026. As it stands now, Canada sits 20th, with a 53 point cushion
  16. Good news, bad news in the men's individual. The Canadians didn't do great: Pletz - 65th Runnals - 66th Borglum - 73rd But they did better than KAZ, made 37 more Nations Cup points to put them in 20th (and with a 23 point lead). There are 8 races remaining that will impact that Nations Cup, tomorrows Single Mixed Relay, Saturday's men's relay, and then six more races when the World Cup resumes
  17. World Championships - Women's Individual Lunder 54th Paradis - 69th Moser - 73rd All three had a tough time on the shooting range. Looks like Lunder is 3rd alternate for the Mass Start.
  18. Just got a chance to watch it. I imagine they ruled it shared responsibility as Dandjinou cut across two lanes trying to block him
  19. Pursuits went today. Women: Lunder - 27th Moser - 35th Paradis - 43rd Men: Runnals - 43rd
  20. Not so hot a day for the men in the Sprint. Runnals - 47th (+2:27) Borglum - 62nd (+2:59) Pletz - 89th (+4:26) First two didn’t shoot bad, only one miss each, and conditions looked good. Just didn’t have the ski speed As far as Olympic qualifying goes, Kazakhstan didn’t do so hot either, so we only lost 4 points, leaving us down 14 for the all important 20th spot in Nations Cup
  21. Not today, nope Shilo Rousseau was announced to be going, and had strong results at the European Championships… but did not race today
  22. The ladies did well in the Sprint. 25th - Lunder (+1:26) 31st - Moser (+1:50) 38th - Paradis (+2:13) All three not only made the Pursuit, but will be set up well for more solid results there Conditions were kinda snowy and windy, so a bit challenging. But at least the course was in good shape.
