  1. It’s just an extra step to make sure the countries with spots have that many capable entries. Sadovsky had to do that to go to Beijing 2022. They used to do it at Nebelhorn in conjunction with that, but now I guess they’re having a specific qualifier As long as our nominee skates reasonably, I don’t think it will be an issue
  2. Thank you for that. So with one race left this year that makes 6 races So it depends if/how many races they plan to have before the deadline in December. If one, that’s seven, still just one dropped If two, that’s eight and a second result dropped And I can’t find any outline of what’s planned for next year. As long as the Canadian’s can keep within one spot of the Yanks ( or preferably beat) in those races they should be alright. As right now even dropping another result wouldn’t hurt us
  3. The will need to equip each boat with a knife ala Crocodile Dundee
  4. It's not as different as you think. Their B-team has guys any given day can beat the guys on their A-team... no different than we'll be looking at in some sports. And we're still sending 4 each for any event we have that many medal contenders in. Which is a lot in sports limited to 25-32 spots
  5. There are two races left? There only one left this season, so that means they're having one before the deadline next season? Beyond that, do they get to drop more scores? If so, how many? It would be great if the ISMF actually explained all this stuff, or any of it.
  6. Norway’s is no different in cross country and biathlon. Their B-teams have men and women that would be top ten in the world. They often have guys that pop in from the IBU Cup for one weekend and podium
  7. But if you want medals, cross country skiers are the most efficient investment. Takes 25 world class hockey players to win one medal… with 25 world class nordic skiers, Norway wins 20+ medals across XC, NC, and biathlon Not that we could expect to be Norway, but if we got serious and stuck with it, 5-10 every Olympics wouldn’t be out of the question
  8. Though so. It’s a bit of an odd rule given there are only two countries anywhere close to 30
  9. Can’t you get 32 in freestyle if you qualify for aerials mixed team? Too bad we don’t even have any male ski jumpers too defend our legendary mixed team medal 😭😂
  10. Well, it was not pretty... but I think we have men's and women's teams in the Olympics! Final races with Nations Cups implications went today. Men: Only two raced, Pletz (75th) and Connelly (95th), but fortunately Kazahkstan didn't have much of a day and only made up 40 points... so Canada finished 20th with a 156 point cushion Women: Paradis had a very good day, finishing 36th! Hopefully she can keep building on that. Lunder was 58th, Moser 76th, and Peiffer 99th. The women finished 16th overall in the Nations Cup
  11. I’m well aware of her record this season. And last for that matter. I’m also well aware of our country’s curling myopia over the last 20 years
  12. Sounds like a vote for, “Your Excellency, Jr”
  13. We have a bad habit of downplaying how good some of these other countries are. The Swiss and Koreans are terrific teams… and they take Worlds seriously, unlike us. Those teams build their seasons around Worlds… we pour whatever is left of our champs on a plane two weeks after running the STOH/Brier gauntlet
  14. The IOC not hip? C’mon they’ve added skateboarding, breaking and surfing… all things that were cool as hell in the 80’s!
  15. You just gonna swoop in and snake the good news from me like that?! Tsk tsk Not impossible to make up 196 points in one race... but extremely unlikely. I think the biggest spread between the two in a singles race this year was 105. As long as Canada shows up and isn't horrifically sick or something, we're pretty safe now
  16. She has really came into her own the last couple years. Could have a very special Olympics
  17. Weidemann seems to be starting to find her form again
  18. The races are going forward, and they got in the short individual races today. The women had an ok day Moser - 45th Lunder - 51st Pfeifer - 63rd Paradis - 78th For the men Runnalls had a great day and saved their bacon Runnalls - 27th Pletz - 74th Connelly - 78th Thanks to that they picked up an extra 11 points over Kazahkstan, and now are up 119 points with three races to go... two of which would go Sunday with the mixed and single mixed relays, weather dependent
  19. This weekends World Cup in Pokljuka is in question because of warm weather and tons of rain. They've already tweaked the schedule, and are now talking about potential cancellations. If they do race it sounds like it's gonna be sloppy
  20. Interesting. Quite the controversy. I’ve listened to some interviews in the past, and they had casually mentioned the Norwegians were kinda notorious for the suit manipulations… guess they still are
  21. Shoe was on the other foot today in the men's relay. Canada had a nightmare start and ended up 18th, while Kazakhstan showed well at 13th. Chopped 50 points off Canada's cushion, dropping from 158 to 108 with four events left. Three are next week in Pokljuka. We're not out of the woods just yet On the upside, the women fared much better with a respectable 13th in their relay
  22. Bit of a rough day in the women's sprint Moser - 57th Pfeiffer - 62nd Lunder - 75th Paradis - 86th
  23. World Cup resumed today, and it was a men's sprint so there were Nations Cup implications Wasn't a great day, but did ok Runnals - 52nd Connelly - 59th Pletz - 80th At this point the big thing is the Nations Cup, and they did fortunately out perform the Kazakh's. They now have a 158 point cushion in 20th, up from 113 before today, and five events remain. Big one goes Sunday with the relay
  24. I think Canada was down 11 points before the race, and they flashed the standings before signing off and it looked like Canada was now down 6 points
  25. Ahh, thank you Well, thats not good
