Qualification Tracker

Test

Everything posted by JockCartier

  1. Sounds like the triathlon is a go to tonight, and the men will follow the women
  2. The organizers were obstinate, and using it as a showpiece was more important than the competition. Not that it's unique to Paris '24, hell, Calgary '88 built ski jumps in an undersized wind tunnel
  3. Apparently Friday, and if they can't swim in the Seine, it'll be a duathlon Not kidding
  4. I had us projected for 27-28, and to have five at this point... so, I think having six is just peachy
  5. The men looked really good in VNL... but a lot of teams were treating VNL like an Olympics pre-season, so, yeah, a bit misleading
  6. Again, based on Qualifying scores, going into the last apparatus I have US +6.93 Italy +2.6 Brazil +1.1 GB +0.73 Canada China -1.53 Romania -2.47 Japan -3.0 Italy and GB are on beam, so nightmares can happen
  7. That puts them right back in it, massive improvement over qualifying. Looks like GB and Brazil have the inside line on bronze Canada will need to make up at least a point Now ahead of China
  8. Based on qualifying scores for the remaining apparatus, Canada is within .77 of Brazil and .20 of China and well ahead of Japan, GB and Romania Crazier things have happened
  9. Don't begrudge her, she was a good soldier and sacrificed her individual programs a lot for the relays... but her departure sure left a huge hole on our relays
  10. Triathlon has been delayed until at least Wednesday, cause the Seine is too gross to swim in
  11. Kharun maybe, but he wasn't developed here regardless Yeah, the cupboard is a little bare
  12. Getting a chance to sit down and really watch the basketball game in full... woof. That was a brutal effort. Not sure anyone looked good out there. Maybe Swords. The starters were especially bad.
  13. Shocker! I was sure we were toast when France got their second try. Seemed like the dam had broke. Shows what I know
  14. I've been watching so much, my french is coming back!
  15. Amoung other issues, yup. French CBC is so much better. Even their Twitter is infinitely better
  16. Well, if this involved a medal after the competition and one side was determined to drag it out and act in bad faith at every turn, I'm sure we could drag it out after the fact with CAS for a year plus too
  17. Sadly, didn't seem like it could end either way. The way the Korean was throwing false attacks, the only way it was going to end was with her DQ'd for that or DeGuchi for passivity
  18. I know you like to hammer on this endlessly, and probably don't care, but... The Valieva case was drastically different. The international fed and WADA had to appeal to CAS and go through all that to get her DQ'd because the test was a domestic event... all the while Russia dragged their feet and obsfucated and RUSADA giving her a pass If the test had happened at the Olympics, it would have been a different story
  19. Looking at it relative to apparatus and qualifying scores, looks like we're in 7th, and could maybe catch Italy for 6th Just getting to the final was a huge win
  20. We can only expect so high a conversion rate. Everyone else in the world is trying to win too. There will be surprises, there will be disappointments... and in many ways, the disappointments make the surprises that much better!
  21. Don't know a lot about fencing... but Harvey has been on the backfoot the whole time.
  22. Knox and Acevado certainly upped their game for the final. That's about as good a time as we could have asked for.
  23. Oh wow... we snuck through to the team final in gymnatics! Turkey and Spain had absolute nightmares on their last rotations
  24. Swim Canada needs to take a hard look at what they've done to the women's sprint program. Haven't had any new stars emerge this cycle, we're getting kinda long in the tooth, and we went from 4 swimmers with the A standard, to none McIntosh's spectacular rise has distracted from the rest of the program kinda getting stuck in neutral
