Day 1 Preview A MASSIVE first day for Australian medal chances (DIVING) Woman’s 3M Synchronised The first medal chance at these games for Australia will come with Keeney and Smith in this event. They are also the Rio 2016 bronze medalist and I can see a very good chance for a Silver here. Hard to look past the Chinese for the gold (Cycling Road) Woman’s Individual Time Trial Grace brown could either win it, get a minor medal or not even medal at all. She will be second last out of the gates as a result of her strong world champ result. Hard to predict but this will likely be our first Gold medal chance of the games Rugby Sevens (Men’s) The medal matches are today and on paper a bronze medal matchup with South Africa is the most likely scenario, unless we do something incredible and beat FIJI. This team getting a medal would be an incredible result, as not many would of picked them to do so. Swimming (Men’s 400M Free) The start of the massive swimming chances begin with Short and winnington in the 400. Assuming they get through heats, this is going to be a massive matchup against Lukas Martens . As far as beating the US in the Swimming medal tally, this is absolutely crucial for us to win. (Woman’s 400M Free) Titmus will a strong favourite but watch out for Summer Mcintosh, as she is eventually going to be beat Titmus one day, let’s just hope it’s not tonight. We will also be on WR watch here (Woman’s 4X100 Free Relay) We will be favourites here as always, and not winning this would be an absolute disaster. WR watch once again and will be interesting to see who the final 4 swimmers will be. (Men’s 4x100 Free Relay) US are obviously strong favourites, but Australia can hopefully challenge for the Silver if Kyle does his thing. Hopefully a strong performance from him (Recap) All in all, there is 4 gold medal chances for us on day 1 (3 in swimming 1 in cycling) and ambitiously I want us to win at least 3. It will be tough but very possible. Only walking away with 2 golds would be not end of the world but slightly underwhelming. Anything less than 2 is a disaster. Absolutely massive day, bring it on 💪

It could very well happen if there is no strong other bids. I think the best thing the Olympics can do however is keeping the trend of choosing host countries where they already have the infrastructure
