I'll have time to listen tonight, but I can almost guarantee I've heard more cringe-worthy things in a few years of following the Brazilian 'team'

Pichler has now been discharged, and is at home recovering.

IBU announced that the fluoride wax ban will start 2021/2022 season.
They also announced that the sport will work towards a climate neutral sport by 2030. The only issue I have with this is that travel constitutes a large part of this. If this is true, any WC/IBU cup events outside of Central Europe are unlikley.
81 Russian athletes have tested positive for COVID19. I am not sure as to which sport they participate in, or if that is currently though. The article is a little vague.
In an article with Biathloworld, Simon Eder drops hints about retiring after Beijing 2022.
Daria Domrachiva's brother was arrested by riot police in Belarus. There is a video of the incident included as well. This is not intended to be a political commentary on the situiation there.

There is one change in January's part of World Cup, there will be two stages in Oberhof and one in Anterselva, instead traditional Oberhof, Ruhpolding and Anterselva. Of course all is due to covid-19...

Wolfgang Pichler is currently in a coma. He was cycling near Ruhpolding, had a heart attack. He was revived, but now is in a coma. I hope he recovers.
Another new biathlon and ski complex in the works in Russia, this time it is in Khabarovsk, in far east Siberia.

Finally, we got a result update from Lithuania.
In the men's mass start race, the winners were:
1. Karol Dombrovski 1+1+0+2
2. Tomas Kaukėnas 2+2+1+2 +35.0
3. Maksim Fomin 0+2+1+2 +2:07.0
4. Linas Banys 1+2+3+2 +3:24.0
Vytautas Strolia did not participate, interesting that Fomin confidently beat Banys, Mačkinė shot really badly and Romanov still very slow on skis.
On the women's side, Kočergina didn't start so the results are not really too important.
Gabrielė Leščinskaitė won with 0+0+1+3 and had 8 minutes over our junior Sara Urumova in second place, so yeah....
Lastly, the results from yesterday's sprint were:
1. Karol Dombrovski 0+1
2. Linas Banys 0+0 +43.0
3. Tomas Kaukėnas 0+3 +1:12.0
4. Maksim Fomin 2+0 +1:45.0
On the women's side, again Gabrielė was first, this time she had 5 minutes over Urumova.
Kočergina and Strolia not starting in the sprint either.
The performances in the youth categories are really tragic, we don't have a future for the next five years on the youth side.

On the 25th-27th of September, the Lithuanian Summer Biathlon Championships are going to be held. Since the travelling bans in Latvia, the competition was re-scheduled to take place in Ignalina, Lithuania.
It will be that time of the year where we can somewhat find out which of our athletes are still biathletes

Upcoming IBU Vote - The article talks about what Canada will do with the loss of the IBU Junior Cup and the early IBU Cup races. But near the end is the nugget.
"Currently, the full BMW IBU World Cup schedule is going ahead as planned. However, the IBU executive board is meeting from Sept. 26-27 to decide whether adjustments will be made to the world cup’s November and December events.
Wadsworth said there is a concern similar changes could be made to the world cup circuit. His gut feeling is that the races before Christmas will be scaled back."
Wadsworth is the head coach of the Canadian National Biathlon Team.
I think that this is also the meeting where the IBU World Championships are awarded. I do not remember if the new locations for the IBU Cup will be announced as well. You wonder how many people will travel to China for that race.

Russian IBU Cup Biathlete Kristina Reztsova will take the season off due to pregnancy.
Russian Summer Biathlon Sprint Results
Women
1. Yakaterina Glazyrina 22:51.1
2. Svetlana Mironova 22:53.0
3. Evgenia Pavlova 23:00.7
Alexader Loginov (I always think about the cook in The Hunt for Red October) did not race in either the individual or sprint due to an elbow injury.

Recently one of the German skeleton sliders transferred to CZE and she automatically became Anna Fernstaedova. If you were to transfer to Latvia you would automatically become Robs TheAggies, because that is a grammatical requirement of Latvian (masculine nominative single)
But we are missing the main point guys! Gabriella Soukalová is single again!

Nope, women cannot lose the -ova in her surname. because it is the ending of female surnames. She may returns to her father´s surname - Soukal - so she will be again Soukalová.

Surprised that this thread didn't blow up yet
Apparently, the IBU World Cup is going to run as scheduled, with possibilities for venue changes in the first semester.
Since health precautions cannot be guaranteed at the level of the World Cup, the Junior cup for the following season is cancelled, as well as the European Junior Championships, so the only start for juniors next season is going to be the World Championships in Obertiliach.
IBU cup is also going to be delayed a lot with first races starting in January. No comment on how athletes are going to be qualifying to the World Cup was given.

That would have been about the time that she and OEB started to have fond feelings for each other. Maybe he was a NATO spy, she was a KGB spy and they fell in love not through biathlon as we are led to believe, but through their spycraft. Perfect cover!

So an update with Nilsson, she will still be able to train, but without poles. She fell on rollerskis while going down a hill. To be honest that could have happened if she was training for Nordic skiing only. So this is not a sport specific injury. It does put her six weeks behind on shooting though, which is where she had the most to learn.
Now for the random news of the day:
The Turkish Biathlon team has training, but like other nations can not travel. So they are making the best of their situation.
Last in Belarus, where their soccer/football league did not stop during the Spring shutdown, over 30k children participated in youth activities this summer, including biathlon. Why is this important, I think that fewer than 30k Americans have done the sport total since 1956 when the first race in the US was held.

Neither will Brazil, they've been preparing for the COVID crisis for years and have now perfected the art of avoiding any kind of serious training camps
There's hope to see one or two Brazilians compete in IBU Cups though, if they're allowed to travel.
