The other day I heard a journalist say our entire sports budget is the same as the budget of brazilian swimming.

An additional problem besides traveling costs was that many windows clashed with decisive stages of european leagues which made many teams play some pro league games with B/C squads. If you check the schedule for this year it's all compressed in November-February (when many european leagues do a long winter stop) and then straight to June when all european leagues are over.

Tbf with team sports, it's only volleyball and water polo that have that problem, the rest are perfectly fine as they are (in the sense that all have at least one competitive enough team per continent). Women's football tournament is still not ideally shaped but since football is such a popular sport and women's game is evolving fast I'm sure even the most uncompetitive confederations will improve drastically in the next few cycles.

I read the PR statement from this group of people and it seems their request centers around the anti-government interference rule that FIFA has, which is a fair reason but in practice FIFA has been notoriously inconsistent at enforcing in the past, turning a blind eye to several cases.

FIFA will throw that paper to the bin as soon as it arrives.

Well, 10 golds in a day is great despite one or two screw ups. I'd guess we should win between 5 and 10 more in the last 3 days. There seem to be a lot that will be 50/50 chances, though I have no idea of our level in things like Bochas and Squash (it looks like there was good performance in both today).

I'd like to think this can't possibly be true but in the women's skeet competition there are only 4 shooters and in 4th place after 75 plates there is bolivian that so far scored... 1 point.

Today is one of the days with the most clear gold medal chances for I believe (probably together with the following day). The two "easiest" golds (men's hockey and K1 1000) and quite a few others that will be very contested.

We're playing with a B team (no players from european clubs). CHI/PAR/URU are all around the same level. They seem to beat each other alternatively all the time.

Absolutely 0 chance. They beat our team because our team is trash and the girls have negative rugby IQ.

With Argentina it was 48-1. I watched a bit of it, even caught their only goal. They remind me when I played youth school handball and once we had to play a team from upper category who had all +1.85m guys, we lost like 30-1 and I scored the only goal. Never been prouder of myself in sport

Sin presupuesto, sin insumos necesarios para muchos deportes por las importaciones, con las instalaciones del parque Roca ahí oxidandose, todos los yog 18 alejados del deporte, salís de los deportes colectivos y ves que no emerge nadie que pinte que pueda estar ni cerca de ser una estrella mundial, dirigentes que no se les cae una idea al mando de casi todas las federaciones....

No se si hubo muchos retiros o qué pero no conozco a la mitad de las jugadoras del equipo de handball. Por otro lado, no se si vieron tyc sports hoy pero el técnico del equipo esgrima sable le pegó a los dirigentes en la entrevista con Bonadeo. Dijo que el presupuesto no les alcanza ya ni para ir a una misera copa del mundo y que hasta Brasil (que en sable es menos que Argentina) puede viajar. Además varios de la esgrima ya directamente se fueron a vivir afuera. Justamente estoy notando eso en muchos deportes, se van todos afuera. Y ni siquiera en los deportes más amateur.... las ligas de voley y básquet son la desolación total. Hockey que antes aún jugaba la gran mayoría en el país ahora todos y todas en Europa. No se en cuánto está hoy pero me juego que la beca del enard no debe alcanzar ni para pagarte un alquiler de un tres ambientes.
