Judo could have any country from Oceania sending athletes to WC and getting a quota (Kiribati did that and more could have done it). Obviously it is not THAT easy, you have to register, have some kind of basic training... but yeah, there are still a couple of those.

What do you girls and guys think about Universality athletes being the same from previous Universality quotas? I get it that sometimes they get their first quota while up-and-coming and maybe are at their career peak at 2nd or 3rd cycle. And OBVIOUSLY they deserved their quotas being the best from the countries. But at the same time I feel like it would be good for the development of the sport in the country if other athletes get it (specially regarding tripartite choices). Perhaps it could have a 'ladder', like if they have been to an Olympic before (or 2) they have at least to reach an OCT or not have a second swimmer with 90% of their points or something like this.

I have a question that maybe dumb but not sure if it is throughly explained on the PDF: How does reallocation happen AFTER july 7? does it go the same way? And I wonder if WA will release all Universality places by next week as well

I know this was a couple of days ago, but... Brazil (as other countries) had their selection policy so even athletes with OQT were not selected to their individual events because they haven't done it during trials. So they would be officially selected as "relay only". But in the end Brazil would have 11 relay only athletes, and one of them had an OQT on 100m freestyle (Marcelo Chierighinni), so he will have an entry to allow for another athlete to compete. Now Eduardo de Deus also got 400m OQT on Sette Colli, so not sure if he will have an entry on that event or be considered relay only.

From what I heard they can ASK for it. It will be FINA's choice in the end, they have discretionary power to allow or not.

2016 Olympic Champion and 2020 bronze medalist Thiago Braz just got a ruling from CAS to allow him to compete. He had a good run at Troféu Brasil to someone that was (supposedly) without training for one year or so. He won with 5.65, but failed his 3 attempts to 5.82. Silver (Lucas Alisson Pedro) and bronze (Andreas Kreiss) had only 5.00.

Thanks for being a sensible voice in this thread! History and politics are not one-sided. But it's hard to people (directly affected specially) to notice it.

But to be honest, I think we are trying to do something a bit naive, which is to hope for peace all over the world and that all people feel represented by governments etc. It is a bit unreal... and reminds me about "Olympism", which is deep down an utopia. That's why I think we will never really have "one-sided evil", so all these discussions are amazing but don't provide us with real answers. And that's why it shouldn't be a criteria to determine the participation of a NOC in the Olympic Games.

It doesn't need to be about giving back, but to recognize it. And specially in regards to New Caledonia, Tahiti and other French forces: how can one expect that a person born in France, tied to France and to a French company, working and living in the island for a few years, hoping to come back to France later, could have a fair saying on the future of the island? They are minorities, because France politics sent a lot of French people there to settle and occupy, it makes total sense that the occupying forces are majority.

I think whoever updates wikipedia page on wrestling is totally out of its place imagining reallocations. On 57kg men freestyle: AIN got a quota at world championships. IOC has not invited the athlete who won the quota (Zaur Uguev) but Nachin Mongush. We all know this is super common in wrestling. But on wiki, the AIN quota was reallocated (!) and AIN appears as an "additional place", apparently out of nowhere.

IS there any chance that US will take more women (who finished 7th for instance at the relays) now that they have the space? And if my count is correct, only 10 relay only athletes so far.
