  2. Canada almost lost to Colombia in rugby, how embarrassing
  3. becomes first team from CONCACAF to qualify after beating Panama 7-0 in the semifinals.
  4. Triathlon +4 +4 +4 A further 8 spots (two teams) were to be awarded to the fourth/fifth ranked team at the Pan American Mixed relay Championships, but no other eligible teams finished. Not sure how these spots will be reallocated now.
  5. Anyone know the name of the male announcer at the gymnastics venue?
  6. Hannah Darling, rugby sevens bronze in Rio and only 22 has retired.
  7. fourth in high jump
  8. medal in gymnastics!
  9. That is surprising! The post event sequence is doping, mixed zone, ceremonies (ceremonies if its a quick turn around first). She probably could not be located for them to keep the schedule without her.
  10. Well they have the Canadian flag beside their name and are listed on athletics.ca
  11. I took a quick look at the some of Canada's athletes in track and field. More than half are not even the best ranked Canadian, one is fourth!! in Canada. How did they select this team!?
  12. What a match between and :NZL in rugby.
  13. No where, I was looking at the scores. Two judges had Canadian 30-27 when I looked but it has changed (so probably an error). Looks like they changed the boxing format as well for boys' The best two qualified boxers are seeded and will compete first in the Preliminary Round 2. There is a random draw for the four other boxers (unseeded) for the Preliminary Round 1. The winners of the Preliminary Round 1 will progress to the Semifinals; the losers will box against the seeded boxers in the Preliminary Round 2. The winners of the Preliminary Round 2 will progress to the Semifinals; the losers will box for fifth place. The losers of the Semifinal bouts will compete for the bronze medal, and the winners will advance to the final bout. The winner is awarded the gold medal and the loser the silver medal.
  14. Boxing started and our boxer got robbed by the judges. Can we seriously kick this sport of the Olympics?
  15. The only hope is your boxer advanced further than the THai boxer at the World Youth Championships...
  16. And he was born on 02/02/02
  17. @hckosice your boxer drew Panpatchara Somnuek, who probably is one of the top 2 boxers in the category
  18. Unfortunately, the RUS MAG coach removed his gymnast (Sergei NAIDIN) accidentally from the four Apparatus Finals in which he qualified. The coach thought he was confirming participation. Consequently, the reserve gymnasts were inserted in his place. RUS became aware of the mistake when they realized, that the start lists did not include their gymnast’s name. This morning the FIG, with approval from the IOC, has decided not to punish the gymnast because of an administrative error of his coach and to re-admit Sergei NAIDIN to the finals of the Floor Exercise, Pommel Horse, Parallel Bars, and Horizontal Bar for which he had originally qualified and to exceptionally run these four finals with 9 athletes instead of 8.
  19. Anyone know why 9 ppl started in men's fe? Announcers kept saying admin error? Also gymnastics medal for Canada! I believe she is first female artistic gymnastics to win a medal for Canada at an Olympic event.
  20. I took a look at the qualification system and the women get an extra spot per event, probably to get the athlete totals to be equal among men and women.
  21. Yes only one bronze medal. There is only 6 per category, afaik.
  22. @thiago_simoes Any thoughts on Team Canada?
  23. That would increase operational costs. The way to do it is perhaps having more sessions per day/reducing competition days for some sports that could share venues. Weightlifting has 14 weights, you could do that competition within 5 days now for ex.
  24. Both you and @konig have difference answers lol This venue model is probably the best I have seen in any multi-sport event (a smaller scale was used at Commonwealth Games, where 3 sports shared). Toronto 2015 also had weightlifting/boxing share the same stadium. If the IOC is keen on saving costs, you got to remove venues. The biggest expense is venues, with each one you have staff, cleaning, security, overlay etc. If they reduce them it would be save money. But nothing in Agenda 2020 says this And to make it worse they added stadiums for baseball for ex. in 2020.
