  5. It doesn't look like have anyone going for the all-around competition.
  6. Two pretty mediocre vaults from Jake Jarman. Only scores 13.850 which wont be enough to get him to the final
  7. First subdivision complete. All-Around: Daiki Hashimoto - 83.065 Shinnosuke Oka - 78.631 Dorian Doan - 73.297 Alkinoos Nikolaos Graikos - 72.132 Antonios Tantalidis - 71.698
  8. Bello Brothers through to the final of the Challenger event in Nuvali It could prove an important tournament for them as they look to offset the 1200 points from their Elite16 win in Rio which will drop out of their ranking points total next month
  9. The fact that the women's team isn't covered under this suggests it's not a genuine concern about the governance of the sport. It's a shame the national squad is getting caught up in a commercial dispute.
  10. It's being shown on the Eurovisionsport website
  11. Pools announced for World Champs: Top 2 in each pool advance to round of 32. 4 top ranked 3rd placed teams also advance to round of 32. Remaining 3rd placed teams go into lucky loser play-offs
  12. I agree with a lot of what you say. How do you measure 'relevancy?' Is curling relevant, or bowls? Kabaddi? If the viewing figures are close to 3mln that would tend to indicate there is still an audience there for the event - ratings that probably exceed those of most of their athletics coverage. There are plenty of sports where the BBC has been priced out of the market for rights but there are plenty of sports where the rights would be available for very little. When the BBC makes the effort, it can cover sport really well. I was pleasantly surprised by their coverage of the athletics world champs which, for the first time in a while seemed to get the balance right between the talking heads and the live action. I also don't have any issue with the BBC's broader coverage of women's sport, but I don't think this has to come at a cost of reducing the breadth of sports covered on the BBC.
  13. So, the BBC in their infinite wisdom have decided to drop coverage of the Boat Race. Apparently, the management at BBC Sport views the Boat Race as elitist. At the same time, they announced a 5 year contract to show....more football. Over the last few seasons, we've seen BBC Sport progressively scale back on their sport offering - rowing, triathlon, cycling, swimming, diving and hockey have all but disappeared from BBC schedules. Other sports are relegated to online only - because we can never have enough reruns of Bargain Hunt - but somehow they can always find a way to clear the primetime schedules to show football games. I'm not against them investing in women's football, but I can't help wishing that they would recognise that there is a world of sport beyond football that deserves to be covered on free to air television by the national broadcaster.
  14. and on the men's side and on women's would be most likely challengers
  15. '28 Olympic Quota Projection If this week's results were repeated in 2027, the first tranche of Olympic quotas in the women's events would be: Women's Single Sculls: +3 Women's Double Sculls: Women's Quadruple Sculls: Women's Pair: Women's Four: Women's Eight:
  16. '28 Olympic Quota Projection So, if this week's results were repeated in 2027, the first tranche of Olympic quotas on the men's side would be: Men's Single Sculls: +3 Men's Double Sculls: Men's Quadruple Sculls: Men's Pair: Men's Four: Men's Eight:
  17. World Championship Day 4 Results PR3 Mixed Coxed Four - (Allen/Rakauskaite/Fuller/O'Brien/Bryce) - A class crew - finished 1st in their heat and about 17 seconds quicker than the rest of the field. Men's Single Sculls - (Thomas Barras) - Never in contention - was already 11 seconds down by the midway point. Finished last in the heat - 10 seconds behind who were 5th. a place in Final D awaits. Men's Double Sculls - (Aidan Thompson/Tobias Schroder) - Finished 2nd in C Final for 14th overall. If this was an Olympic qualifying regatta, there would be no quota in this event. Men's Four - (Graham/Robson/Bourne/de Graaf) - Led from the gun. Were in tight battle with through 1500m before moving out to around 2 second lead by the finish. Had expected to be a bit closer, but they were 3rd, almost 4 seconds behind the Brits. GB progress to the A Final as the fastest boat and will battle , , , and .
  18. World Championship Day 3 Results Women's Pair - (Elizabeth Witt/Jade Lindo) - Finished 3rd in their semifinal behind and in a time of 7:07.99. They progress to the A Final but go in as the slowest boat - about 2 seconds slower than 5th place Men's Pair - (James Vogel/Harry Geffen) - Having been in 3rd through the first 1,000m, it all started to go wrong from there. In a repeat of the performance from their heat, they went from being in contention to also rans (rows?) in the space of 500m. They limped home in last place in a time of 6:34.11 and will progress to the B Final. Men's Quadruple Sculls - (Cedol Dafydd/Callum Dixon/Matthew Haywood/Rory Harris) - Worked their way through the field to win their semifinal in a time of 5:42.55 ahead of both and . GB are the fastest boat going into the A Final but should expect tough battle against .
  19. Qualifying for the Lead Competition at World Championships completed. Start with the good news: Erin McNiece qualifies for the semi finals as the second highest scorer with 44+ and Top in her two routes. Now the bad news.... Toby Roberts fails to qualify after a couple of lacklustre climbs - a 23+ in her first effort was only good enough for 37th. He managed to improve in the second route with 41+ which was 12th best. Overall, he finished in 25th place - so misses out on the semifinal by 1 place. Roberts seems to be another athlete who is having a bit of an off season post Olympics.
  20. World Championship Day 2 Results Men's Para Single Sculls - (Benjamin Pritchard) - Quite simply blew the rest of his heat away. Finished in 8:56.14 in heat 2 almost 15 seconds ahead of the rest of the field. likely to pose toughest competition as winner of the second heat in 8:59.77 Women's Double Sculls - (Lucy Glover/Cameron Nyland) - Never really got into the thick of the fight. Ultimately finished 5th in their heat and 10th overall. They will go into the B Final. Men's Double Sculls - (Aidan Thompson/Tobias Schroder) - Finished 3rd in their heat and 11th overall. They fail to make the semifinals and will end up in the C Final. Women's Four - (Irwin/Stewart/Long/Slabbert) - Was 2nd through halfway before gradually drifting back and finishing 3rd in their heat behind and . They'll go into the A Final as 5th fastest overall. Men's Four - (Graham/Robson/Bourne/de Graaf) - Led from the gun. Was a second ahead of within the 1st 500m and this extended to over 2 seconds by the end of the course. With a winning time of 5:54.18, GB were the fastest qualifiers for the semifinals. Women's Single Sculls - (Lauren Henry) - Led throughout her heat and goes into the semifinals as the fastest qualifier. Men's Single Sculls - (Thomas Barras) - Finished 3rd in his heat and about 19th overall. Makes it through to quarter finals but will need to get some extra pace if he is to make it through to the semis.
  21. Botswana gets a public holiday after winning gold at World Championships Botswana declares public holiday for 'historic' World Athletics Championships men's relay victory - BBC News Kind of begs the question, what would need to achieve in order to warrant a public holiday in UK? The merest whiff of the football team winning the World Cup - or even the Euros, and politicians are happy to jump on the bandwagon but can't think of another sport where they even acknowledge the achievements of our sportsmen/women
  22. Think we can probably all agree this wasn't a vintage championships for us. On the upside, UK Athletics selection policy was definitely a step forward - taking people who qualify through world ranking should be a no-brainer even if they are last in the list. That being said, it didn't take Mystic Meg to know that a couple of the announced athletes weren't going to get in. That's just administrative mismanagement. On the downside, the relays were an unmitigated disaster - going from 5 medals to 0 in the space of a year is not the trajectory we need. Add in unfortunate injuries and poor track positioning and the medal count is seriously depleted. It's the least important year in the Olympic cycle - and athletics isn't the only sport where GB are off their Olympic best - but let's hope we're in a better position when Beijing rolls around in '27.
  23. World Championship Day 1 Results Women's Pair - (Elizabeth Witt/Jade Lindo) - Finished 3rd in their heat behind and in a time of 7:03.44. They progress as a fastest loser. Men's Pair - (James Vogel/Harry Geffen) - Led for most of the race before fading in the last quarter. Finished in 3rd behind and in a time of 6:21.88. Like the women, they progress as a fastest loser. Women's Quadruple Sculls - (Sarah McKay/Hannah Scott/Lola Anderson/Rebecca Wilde) - Won their heat in a time of 6:14.18 to progress directly. Across the 2 heats, GB were 3rd fastest behind and Men's Quadruple Sculls - (Cedol Dafydd/Callum Dixon/Matthew Haywood/Rory Harris) - Won their heat by almost 3 seconds ahead of . Across the 3 heats, GB were 2nd fastest behind
  24. Despite home advantage, having an absolute nightmare Cross Country - three GB riders eliminated so far. Tom McEwan initially showing 15 penalties, but they seem to have been removed. He sets the clubhouse score of 33.
