  1. Kieran Reilly qualifies for the final in style - 2.5 points higher than nearest rival. I was expecting Jeanjean to be higher given home crowd advantage.
  2. are bang on their Tokyo score after 2 riders 152.283 in Paris compared to Tokyo's 152.22.
  3. 74.938 for Moody and she is currently top of her group with only 1 more to go so she will definitely advance to the individual final. As a team we are sitting in second place about 2.7 points behind Denmark
  4. Got to say, I don't automatically associate North Korea with ping-pong but turns out they're pretty decent at it.
  5. Based on recent results, it's really not worthy of a 'yikes'
  6. Nathan Hales goes into the final ranked 2 after a good shoot off. Now he just needs to keep it going in the final.
  7. I've got to agree - when you see what the men are doing and compare it to the women, it's almost like a completely different sport. Basically taking your hands of the handlebars is considered a trick.
  8. To be honest they would have been better off taking Pardoe instead of Worthington given recent performances
  9. look like they are heading for a big improvement on their Tokyo scores. Their second line rider picks up a 76.9 which matches the 2nd ranked rider in Tokyo. Assuming Dufour matches her Tokyo score then Denmark will be up by over 5 points.
  10. Great fight back from GB men in the hockey to salvage a draw against Netherlands
  11. I try to avoid too many blatantly negative posts, but probably the most disappointing performer across the games (and qualifying window) so far has been Matthew Coward Holley. He just hasn't been able to put the performances together when it mattered.
  12. What I hadn't realised was that Becky Moody is ranked 15th in the world. Looking at her recent scores, she should be somewhere in 73-75 range. Stretch target would be to get above Wandres if possible.
  13. The only thing with this format is that unlike the rest of the fleet races, for windsurfing how you do in the opening series doesn't count for much. We saw at last year's world champs that Wilson won the opening series of races by 11 points but everything is reset for the final and she ended up with bronze medal because she had a poor medal race.
  14. With the first line rider complete across most of the main medal threats: are up by 2 points compared to what they achieved in Tokyo. Carl Hester's 77 is basically the same as CDJ scored which will take some of the pressure off of Moody. Frederic Wandres is probably Germany's 3rd ranked rider and scored 76.1 but that is over 2.5 points less than Dorothee Schneider scored in Tokyo. Nanna Skodborg Merrald made huge improvement - scoring over 78 in Paris compared to just 73 in Tokyo Just waiting to see what can do
  15. Totally agree - USA had a particularly bad qualifying which probably gave a false sense of the relative strengths of the squad. In 2020 Olympics, we scored 255.76 for 4th. In 2024 we scored 255.527 with a much younger squad. In Antwerp WC, we scored 254.193 in qualifying before having poor final (249.46) Even in Liverpool where we had home advantage, we struggled to get much above 252. GB have great floor and vault scores. The pommel is OK (I am excluding Whitlock given we know this is his last competition). With Whitlock gone, it potentially opens up a spot for Tulloch again which would possibly strengthen the rings score, but we have to improve our horizontal bar score if we are genuinely going to compete for podium finishes on world stage. Whilst it would have been great to sneak a medal in the team event, I think we need to bear in mind that this squad was probably selected with a view to maximising the number of individual medals and so far, they have delivered on that objective - securing a record number of individual finals. Now they just need to convert some of those finals into medals. But of course, there is always going to be one member of the forum who is going to vent their poison about stuff they know nothing about.
  16. Oh man - you've just fed the troll. I'd give it 10-15 minutes before he's launching into a diatribe about Chinese doping and how GB athletes will be protesting if they have to share a podium.
  17. To be fair, they had a chance of a medal - but they needed other teams to make mistakes. As it is, USA is like a different team compared to what they put in for qualifying.
  18. In order of positivity: Women's Windsurfing - 2 races completed, Emma Wilson taking a 1st and 2nd so has a 5-point lead over Italy. Races 3-5 postponed. Men's 49er - Halfway through the opening series. GB currently sitting in 8th place after struggling in the 1st 3 races before finding some reasonable form in races 4-6 - improving from a 6th to 5th and finally a 4th in the last race. I'd say the gold and silver medal likely to be out of reach, but the Brits are very much in the battle for the bronze. They are 9 points off bronze, but pretty much all of the teams currently sitting in 3rd to 7th are counting a double-digit score. Men's Windsurfing - Only 1 race completed but Sam Sills finished 21st so he will be hoping that will be his discard score. Women's 49er FX - The women are having an absolute mare and won't be in the medal race. They are dead last having been black flagged in race 4 and then finishing 20th in race 6. Add to that a 16th and a 14th, and the crew are quickly racking up a cricket score.
  19. Well for what it's worth, the window cleaner at my third cousin twice removed's hairdresser has heard from an impeccable source that UK Sport are planning on doubling funding for GB Canoeing squad - to be paid for by forcing all funded athletes to sign up for an onlyfans account. Having said that, they also believed that we wouldn't be sending a team to the European Athletics champs this year....
  20. Fair play - Frenchman finishes over 5 seconds ahead of Burgess but I'd still count that as a bonus medal for
