    Does anyone else find the new bib numbers weird? Great to see Davidova take an early win! Elvira Oeberg had insane pace but forgot how to shoot. Somehow Hanna was equally as bad. Nothing to see from Polish athletes, this was as bad as it gets.

    Peng Shuai isn't a global name. She's not been a top player since injury in 2015. What's more, she's been suspended for offering money for a player to withdraw from 2017 Wimbledon. She's hardly won a singles match in the last three years and was basically semi-retired. Her last good season was 2017.

    Neah, that won't happen, Federer is a broken down dinosaur, Nadal is also missing time with injuries and I'm pretty sure ATP will drop all the money for the Next Gen guys (Sinner, Alcaraz, FAA etc.). Any breakaway series only has sense at the height of the given federation's power (darts & American open-wheel in mid 90s for instance). If the tennis breakaway happened it should have been when the Top 4 was at its top (mid 2010s). Now it's too late IMO.

    He won't boycott his most successful Grand Slam Btw, we have a new WTA record in broken serves in a single match. World junior #1 Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva beat Maria Lourdes Carle 7-6 5-7 7-5 in a match that lasted 3h 47 minutes and featured 26(!) broken service games in the Montevideo Open 125k. VJK is only 16 years old so you'll probably hear about her in the future anyway.

    Qualifying in Nizny Tagil has started. Fatih Arda Ipcioglu has qualified as the first Turkish ski jumper to the main competition. He's been trying to do this since 2017 and spend majority of last few seasons on the Continental Cup.

    It's a bluff. WTA can't afford to drop the Chinese money long-term. Players will never agree to paycuts if Chinese money is gone.

    Neah, the anti-Chinese backlash was much bigger before Beijing 2008 and things have went rather smoothly for then since then. World has forgotten about Tibet and Hong Kong by now and Peng Shuai isn't really more important than Tibet, is she? This is Realpolitik at its finest indeed.
