  1. It's the dissolution date of the Kalmar Union? Not like Poland had much joy with Sweden in the 16th century (outside from having a Swedish dynasty as Kings ).
  2. Since even tournament director Amelie Mauresmo said last year women's matches aren't bringing enough revenue, not much will change going forward. After Sabalenka/Stephens was announced as the night match on Chatrier the other day several tickets were returned for re-sale. You just ain't gonna force people to pay and watch women's match if they don't think it will be competitive/exciting enough.
  3. 20 more Kenyans suspended for doping How long until Kenya gets banned from athletics outright? https://www.pulsesports.ng/athletics/story/kenyas-top-sprinter-and-19-other-athletes-suspended-for-doping-violations-2023060316474274952
  4. It's not your decision to make. Even Roosevelt said self-determination of nations is paramount. I assume you're familiar with the concept?
  5. It was a ball girl. SST & Bouzkova pressed the umpire to DQ Kato/Sutjiadi after they were initially only given a warning. Weak stuff from SST/Bouzkova who didn't even bother to check with the ball girl, instead they argued the match should be over. Expect some booing in their next doubles match.
  6. Ruch Chorzów is back in the Polish Ekstraklasa
  7. Winner of AKS vs Gauff plays winner of Świątek vs Tsurenko in QF
  8. FC Barcelona wins the women's Champions League 3-2 over VFL Wolfsburg in the final. Barcelona came from 0-2 half-time deficit. Ewa Pajor who scored the first goal for Wolfsburg was the top scorer of the competition (9 goals in 11 matches)
  9. Iga Świątek probably liked the Rybakina news as she took 50 mins to beat Wang Xinyu 6-0 6-0
  10. Elena Rybakina has WD from Roland Garros citing fever & allergy.
  11. Elina Svitolina beats Anna Blinkova for the second time in six days - after the Strasbourg final this time she wins RG R3 2-6 6-2 7-5. Elise Mertens completely destoyed (3) Jessica Pegula 6-1 6-3. (2) Aryna Sabalenka beat Kamilla Rakhimova 6-2 6-2 and only conducted a private press conference for journalists allowed by the organizers so no political questions anymore.
  12. Yeah, the complete slander of Jokic's MVP awards in the last two years could backfire into the US media face in the next week. Now they have to talk about the Nuggets and usually say that "this is a boring team" as a compliment. No offense to Heat but I hope Nuggets win the title and force the media to bend over backwards to justify how this happened
  13. The China ban is over. WTA has finally released the post USO calendar and will host 6 tournaments in China (Guangzhou, Ningbo, Beijing, Zhengzhou, Nanchang & Zhuhai YEC). The Peng Shuai news drama is well and truly over and there was nobody who could replace the Chinese money.
  14. beat in basketball It's truly a year of miracles after we managed to beat in ice hockey few weeks back @QuasitYeah, all five teams with 2-2 record.
  15. Olga Danilovic beats Jasmine Paolini in Round 2 and will return to Top 100 for the first time since October 2018. She basically did nothing since contracting COVID at the Tokyo OG but she just won the ITF 100k Villa de Madrid and her spike of form continues in Paris.
  16. 2020 OG bronze medallist in high jump Maksim Nedasekau gets the visa & residence in Poland ban - a decision made by our Foreign Ministry (more related to another hard labor camp sentence for Polish minority in Belarus leader Andrzej Poczobut but the war is still mentioned).
  17. According to this: @heywoodu https://sport1.pl/memorial-szewinskiej-2023-transmisja-program-wyniki-na-zywo/ 17:30: OPENING CEREMONY 17:40: School relays (Final) 17:50: Women's Hammer Throw 18:00: Women's 100 meters hurdles (Qualifications) 18:15: Men's 110 meters hurdles (Qualification) 18:15: Men's high jump 18:30: Men's pole vault 18:40: Women's mile run 19:05: Women's 100 meters 19:15: Men's 1,500 meters 19:30: Women's 100 meters hurdles (Final - Teresa Ciepły run) 19:35: Men's Hammer Throw 19:45: Men's 110 meters hurdles (Final) 19:45: Shot put men 20:00: Women's 200 meters 20:15: Men's 200 meters 20:30: Women's 800 meters 20:45: Men's 800 meters 20:55: WINNERS' DECORATION
  18. Polish media treat Sabalenka as the villain #1 so there's always an update about her being asked about Ukraine It happens basically at every tournament and there's always a journalist who asks like one question about the match and five questions about the war. Azarenka is basically irrelevant these days and not a threat to Iga Świątek in the big picture so her quite prominent Lukashenka support is largely forgotten instead.
  19. Big upset among the women as Anna Karolina Schmiedlova beats (11) Veronika Kudermetova 6-3 6-1! @hckošice Meanwhile (12) Belinda Bencic lost to Elina Avanesyan but that wasn't that surprising given Bencic missed the entire clay season with injury.
  20. Not that much news but Tomasz Majewski confirmed Duplantis & Crouser will take part in Chorzów DL on July 16th. Poland is probably one of the very few countries that actually pays attention to shot put in athletics
  21. 1. FC Heidenheim scored in the 93rd AND 99th minute to secure promotion into Bundesliga for the first time ever. Let's see if they manage to avoid one & done scenario. HSV Hamburg fans thought they are in but it's playoffs for them again
  22. So, it's known what group plays next year already? Let's see if we can beat France at least
  23. Some red flags in the end as clowns arrived in town but Josef Newgarden wins Indianapolis 500!
  24. Wheel hit a car in the parking lot. Phew.
  25. Big crash for Kirkwood and Rosenqvist. Wheel missed the stands by like 10 meters. IndyCar dodged a huge bullet there...
