Teams replacing nations wouldn't solve anything since the richest entries would still dominate. It's the case in endurance cross country races already. Plus which of these wealthy sponsors would take on an athlete from Lithuania or Poland to "spice things up"? Nobody. They would also choose as many athletes from the dominating nations.

Some FIFA news, apparently they want to introduce penalty kicks in group stage for 2026 WC which would earn extra point. That's a way to solve the three-team group dilemma that could see all matches ending in a draw. I still think the system 16 groups x 3 teams is stupid. It would be better to have 12 groups with 4 teams but what do we know...
