  1. We all know it's not going to happen, but a 2025 World championship in Eritrea and Ethiopia would be nice.
  2. The only results from Turkmenian track cyclists I could find were these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Track_cycling_at_the_2017_Asian_Indoor_and_Martial_Arts_Games Their best result was a 12th place out of 15 riders in Ominum. Their Men's pursuit team. Oh my...
  3. The 2021 Track Cycling World Championships has been awarded to one of track cycling's "big" nations..... Turkmenistan. https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1070440/uciashgabat-awarded-2021-track-cycling-world-championships-by-uci
  4. This also makes a lot more sense that it is based on the ranking in 2018 Europe/Africa zone group 1
  5. The two unseeded teams will be the 5th and 6th highest ranked nations in Europe/Africa Zone after the ties in October 2018 based on the Davis Cup ranking. These are the teams who still have a chance. Top 2 will take the spots for next year's Davis Cup qualifier : Here comes the complicated part: Isreal don't play anymore matches so their points stand. Ukraine is out beacuse they have no matches left and is not in the top 2 of these 5 teams. Slovakia plays against Belarus at home in October. The Davis Cup ranking is really complicated, but according to my math Slovakia is also out beacuse they can only get a maximum of 175 points, which is just short of Portugal. If Belarus wins against Slovakia, they take a top 2 spot Portugal meets South Africa in October. If Portugal wins, they are secured a spot. So the scenario is: Isreal only qualifies if both Belarus and Portugal lose. Belarus qualfies if they win. Portugal qualifies if they win.
  6. This is how UCI President, David Lappartient, got the idea for mixed team time trial. "I got this idea during the Pyeongchang Winter Olympic Games. I was watching the biathlon – the team relay – with my brother, and I thought, 'Why can't we have this in cycling?' This must be the first time biathlon has inspired anything in cycling
  7. It has been announced that Mixed team time trial will feature at 2019 UCI Road Cycling World Championships. https://www.insidethegames.biz/articles/1070428/mixed-team-time-trial-to-feature-at-2019-uci-road-cycling-world-championships The race, which will be reserved for national teams, will feature six riders from the under-23 and elite categories. MIxed team time trial will see three male riders complete a lap, then hand over to three female riders to finish. I need to mention @heywoodu 's comment UCI wants to be IOC's best friend

  12. If Turkey wins, I wonder what FIFA must think about UEFA?
  13. The host of EURO 2024 wll be announced today at a round 14:45 CET. Germany and Turkey are the only ones who have submitted a bid to host EURO 2024. These are some of the new bid requirements: "For the first time ever, these bid requirements contain specific criteria relating to the respect of human rights. These criteria are based on the United Nations’ “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights” and other UN conventions and were developed in close cooperation with Sport and Rights Alliance.
