Ones developing well while the other is a mess. Can’t say I’m surprised.

Just because Qatar is hosting the World Cup doesn’t mean they should host the Olympics. Their climate is way too hot for the July/August window.

Looks like the Pyrenees-Barcelona joint bid is almost dead.

When will the COC start exploring the Toronto 2036 bid?

Come on, don’t be shy Canada. Save us from Egypt and India.

If the IOC has actually rejected Madrid because they have a different preferred candidate, then I really wonder who that is. Madrid was surely one of the IOC's best bets - a major global city with most of the necessary venues in place in a relatively stable economy with a rich sporting heritage.
Surely they don't want to go somewhere "new" and risky, like India, Turkey or Africa yet - the experience of Rio has surely scared them off that for a generation.
So where is it? The centenary of 1936 would make a German games a PR nightmare. Possibly London? 2012 is regarded as one of the best moments in this country's history by much of the general public and Britain is probably one of the few countries that would be overall quite positive about hosting another games, although making it London-centred wouldn't be ideal as the government preaches about 'levelling up' the north. Maybe some sort of joint effort between Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, Birmingham, etc?
Wouldn’t that be yet another English Olympics after LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032?

Sapporo is likely getting 2030. Their plan is finalized. Up to the IOC to ratify them as hosts.
If Sapporo gets 2030 then it wouldn’t hurt for Canada to eye on 2036.

I’d rather celebrate 60 years after the debt Olympics than 100 years of the Germany Olympics.

Imo, those countries are bad choices.
Why choose Egypt as the first African country to host the Olympics? They’re better off giving it to South Africa.
As for India, wasn’t their CWG bad in 2010?
And why should they celebrate 100 years after the controversial 1936 Berlin Olympics?

Madrid will not bid. Apparently IOC has said to the Spanish NOC president that they have other preferences for 2036 and it is not worth bidding.
Spain will keep the bid for the 2030 WOG, though.
Any word on the other countries bidding for 2036?

And Bosnia also in Barcelona bid?
"In fact, aware of the logistical constraints and the cost that could represent the development of specific facilities for which an optimal reconversion could not be guaranteed later, the Spanish Olympic Committee has thus little by little put forward the idea of an alliance with Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina) , whose recent history is linked to that of the Host City of the 1992 Games."

Is there any news about the Paris 2024 Mascots? Like was there a Mascot competition in France? And any idea when they'll be revealed?
