  1. No sport climbing? That's bad
  2. Expecting another medal today (even a good performance would be fine). The funding given for cycling is minimum by government and despite the vast mainland we all have to turn our attention to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to produce good cyclists. Cycling would more of be taken for educational scholarships, prize money for taking care of family. Hope the medal would be another gift on the country's independence day
  3. Looks like India will win a gold today in the team sprint
  4. Deepak Punia enters semis of world junior wrestling championship 2019. The World Junior Cycling Championship starts tomorrow in Germany. A good performance is expected from the Indians which includes the World junior silver medallist Esow Alben from the Andaman.
  5. India enter the finals of Men's U23 Asian Volleyball Championship 2019. Henceforth qualify for the FIVB U 23 World Championships later this year.
  6. I repeat it was never about India participating or not. I loved the Pacific Games, enjoyed many events of African Beach Games, European Games etc but my individual opinion is this was the most boring multi sport event of the year.
  7. The draw is so difficult that we may return empty hand for the first time since 2010. Mixed Doubles and Women's Doubles players are getting seeded Chinese/Malaysians in R32. Saina Nehwal may crash out in R32 itself, currently she stands no chance of winning against Chochuwong by form. Sindhu could face Tai Tzu Ying in quarters. One needs a string of upsets to reach men's singles semis which is not easy. Satwik / Chirag could have a difficult pre quarter final match against experienced Ahsan /Setiawan of Indonesia which can somewhat counter the Indian style.
  8. Download hotstar and watch it for free. That's the only way you can watch it online in India.
  9. Happy Friendship Day to everyone at the forum!! p. s : When is Friendship Day in your countries?
  10. You don't need to have the strongest athletes for the best games. I enjoyed watching the Pacific Games because there were so many close and interesting events which always kept me guessing regarding who is winning the event. I suppose @Olympian1010 will agree if I say he liked the Pacific Games more than the Pan Am games.
  11. If at all they happen ofc You never know how many times it gets postponed
  12. Undoubtedly the most boring multi sport event of the year. Absolutely nothing to watch. The USA and Canada are sending 2nd or 3rd string teams still dominate, there is no nation close by to US. The smaller nations aren't able to do anything but it's expected. There is absolutely no interest to watch any country or athlete here. Overall it was the most boring multi sport event of the year. The North American and Caribbean Games (US and Canada in selected events) and The South American games should be separate.
  13. Still India will win the quota somehow
  14. Naah it doesn't matter. It's bad news for Hong Kong. The Asian game silver medallist is of no match to the Hong Kong rider and the qualification is not a problem unless the Indian does badly.
  15. Happy Friendship Day to everyone in the Indian National Thread!!
  16. That's also 1 useless site, worser than grace note. They have predicted medals for Thailand in weightlifting which is practically not possible, also Japan winning table tennis team. Maybe Judo they were somewhat ok. For India just 4 medals and they don't make much sense (few world medallist are added that's it)
  17. Point to be noted. Though 14 is way too much. As the page said somewhere countries with more women athletes doing better are seen doing better, they may have overestimated us. Out of the 14 I'm sure about 1 medal they might have predicted - PV Sindhu (silver in WS badminton) ;she'll absolutely destroy all opponents until semis then she's done with the tournament losing final. I predicted 7-14 in one of the forums with heavy chance of not more than 9 but they went further ahead of me though I predicted more golds than them. Lol I still will be surprised to know who is that lone gold medallist according to them. Japan cannot win anything more than women's doubles and /or Men's singles in badminton. 12 golds in judo is a joke nothing else. At most 7-8 (still unlikely). Can't tell much about boxing if they used previous tournaments under AIBA to predict. Even archery its not that easy apart from Korean medals.
  18. I don't find any sense with blue, I couldn't read it much either. Just bcoz India mdia has orange, white and green doesn't mean we'll use those colors. Black is preferable Or maybe red or dark blue. That's it.
  19. W No 14 Greek girl reaching quarters or semis isn't a suprise after all The Romanian entered semis, I wish we had that medal, but unlucky losing so closely and that would have been a suprise though.
  20. She was really good to watch. Even in R32 she trailed 11-14 but here from 8-14 to 14-14 each that's pretty close. She'll get the 20 points which would be quite good for her Olympic qualifying. However if she had won it, she'd have got 35 points which would somewhat ensure an Olympic ticket unless a Hong Kong or Kazakh fencer would do something unbelievable. Even if Japan wouldn't qualify a team, she would safely be the 2nd from Asia-Oceania region to qualify. But now its still not over, she has a couple of points lead for the 2 individual spots in the region.
  21. All these islands only initiate as always but never make it to the games finally.
  22. Not the whole day but some early session. Netball between Tokelau and Norfolk Islands was awesome.
  23. For : This could be a difficult choice actually. Most of big favourites for medal have their events the day after opening ceremony. By form Apurvi Chandela, Saurabh Chaudhary, Mirabhai Chanu all seem to be placed well but competing next day doesn't help the cause. Even badminton starts the next day to opening. In such a case a boxer or wrestler may get the chance. For boxing Amith / Mary Kom, the latter with experience has the edge provided she qualifies. . Else Bajrang or Vinesh (wrestling, subject to qualification) . Neeraj Chopra (athletics), Manu Bhaker (shooting) all have a outside chance.
  24. I don't disagree at all. In fact I have played more badminton and basketball than cricket in my school days
  25. Haan true, but anytime a nation does not need to be good in all or any team sports. Some nations aren't that good in team sports while some are developing so no credit should be taken from any nation for any performance.
