Not the first one today. Diao Xiaojuan from Hong Kong hit an official in the scratch this afternoon, and was wheeled off as well:

 

 

Worse than that (since she's of course in pain, but at least well enough to be wheeled off), the official she hit (who was trying to remove a fallen off number from the track) was transported by ambulance and later helicopter. No word on how he's doing, but he was unconscious earlier.

I wonder when they're going to change the omnium. I always thought the idea behind it was to have sort of an all-round competition.

It could be so simple:

 

1. Individual sprint event (time trial)

2. 'Head to head' sprint event (sprint/keirin)

3. Individual endurance event (pursuit)

4. 'Mass start' endurance event (scratch/elimination)

It was, but since sprint gets all specialist events, it only made sense to have omnium as distance only event...

They shouldn't give it an all-round name if it's not an all-round competition. That's like having the speed skating all-round world championships with a 500m, 1000m and 1500m.
