Aryan's time of 15:59.47 is way outside of OST time of 15:28.02. Basically, all swimmers who achieve OQT (A standard) are guaranteed to be part of Olympics. If after inviting OQT swimmers, relay swimmers and Universality places, there are any additional quotas left, FINA starts inviting OST swimmers. So, in order to qualify through OST, one needs luck and needs to be close to OQT timing to be quite high up in the ranking list. Apart from Sajan, Kushagra Rawat and Advait Page have also achieved OST in 800m freestyle. Sajan has shown great promise in breaking his national record twice here in 200 and also 50 so hope with some further movement upwards he hits the OQT in one of the three backstroke events strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi

Completely agree , I have been watching wrestlers like deepak punia right from Cadet wrestling days and now he is now making waves , deepa came out of nowhere to almost win us a medal in Rio so let us focus and applaud athletes like Bhawani who are really making waves in a sport as unusual as fencing strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi

It would be tough for them to qualify with these rankings. I think they need to improve their combined rankings by 20 points atleast in order to be sure of qualification. At the moment there are 45 & 46. At the moment they are at the last spot available exclusively to doubles players. Vaibhav Manocha
