But star of he day...

Shivani Gadde Ruthvika stuns World No. 25 Nitchaon Jindapol 21-18, 21-16 in her match . Earlier in the day, World No. 10 PV Sindhu and doubles specialists Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa won their respective matches to stun Thailand 3-1 after the early loss of Saina. This is the second consecutive year that India is assured of a medal in the Uber Cup.

:clap::clap:

In fact in my post before the uber I had said that she has great potential  and that she can spring a surprise despite a 110+ rank but this just proves it ...................It is a great achievement......I believe in a years time she should be in top 25 ....i hope she gets some good corporate support................  Nitchaon is not just a world no 25 player but also has been a top 12 player till some time back so a great win ....also  I thnk a good win for jwala / ashwini after some time .....................

Now for China in the semis can india pull off the impossible ???

let's look at the lineup

Li vs Saina ...... can go either way , edge to Li but not impossible for Saina to win

wang shixian vs Sidhu ..... can go either way ... even chances as sidhu does well against the chinese

wang yihan vs ruthvika ....... almost an impossible task 110+ vs world no 4 ...it is like yuki vs federer ..................... but ruthvika is very classy so 95-5 with a small 5 chance

tian /zhao vs ashwini / jwala .... less impossible but 75 -25

 chen pair - world no 12 .against sikki / ashwini ...................... again almost impossible

maybe they will make ashwini/ sidhu pair which did  a fine job against the japanese world 12 and almost beat them ...........................

so the chance we have is saina to beat li , sidhu to beat wang and then hope for a scratch pair to beat world no 12 doubles or hope that jwala / ashiwini can pull off a suprise ...extremely poor chances .............but hope zinda hai :mumble:

Our expectations have reached so high that we are overlooking a gold medal in sprint by India in an international event. :d Good for India.

Congrats Dutee for her gold medal performance today . :champion::IND

    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA

    • https://nypost.com/2026/01/31/sports/team-canada-skeleton-coach-joe-cecchini-speaks-out-after-american-katie-uhlaender-manipulation-claim/   Oh the drama....   Cecchini: “I don’t really wanna speak negatively about Katie, but Katie was not on the World Cup team. She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
