Japan's performance in the same race (43.81) means that their two races (43.61 + 43.81) average to 43.71... the same as France's (43.58 + 43.84)

where you got the results....

Tokyo - 2020

India clocked 44.03 for the Women's 4x100m Relay to finish 4th out of 5 teams at the IAAF World Challenge. The previous Indian record was 44.43 back in 1998.

Tomorrow it will be difficult to improve on it though, there will be no competition for us in this event at Taiwan.

Very tricky draw for Mary Kom at the world championships. Far from easy but could have been a lot worse.

The good news is that she is away from most of the major threats - Cancan, Nicola, the TPE girl she lost to in Asian qualifiers, USA, BUL, UZB, AZE. The bad news is that she has a tough road with no easy match, barring possibly the first round.

In round 2, she is slated to face MGL who was 2nd seed at Asian qualifier, but lost in the first round.

In round 3, she is slated to face the TOP SEEDED Italian. However, the seedings don't seem to make much sense here. Marzia Davide is top seeded at world champs but she was unseeded at the European qualifier event, where she lost in the quarter-finals. On the other hand, Nicola Adams was 2nd seed at the European qualifier, and won the event, but is only 5th seed at the world champs. Makes no sense.

However, Mary's toughest opponent is likely to be Kazakstan - hosts and rulers of AIBA - in the quarter finals. Mary beat Kaz in the 1st round at the Asian qualifier but that was a different Kazakh girl. This is the one match I am worried about. Had KAZ not been in Mary's quarter, it would have been pretty close to a dream draw.

On the other hand, Sarita Devi just can't catch a break. She has relatively easy first 2 rounds. Then, in round 3 it will be either KAZ or VIE (VIE beat Sarita narrowly in the Asian qualifier). However, the death blow is Katie Taylor in the quarters...don't think Sarita has any chance of getting past Katie...

Good analysis ..................I think katie taylor is aging a bit she did not qualify in the european qualifiers  came third ....if by chance AZE or ITA reach semis before this match she automatically qualifies so may not go full tilt ............... :fingers:

Need to improve for a gaining a place in Rio. 43.71 secs is currently the magic figure to attain

I feel with  current set of 100m runners we can touch 43.5 easily.................they need to practice as a team .......................

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
