It's really funny how :KOR  v :ITA isn't that important for both teams in women's épéé (I mean, it's a World Cup event, but still, they already have the quota), but a lot will depend on that match for other countries. :HKG can get the Asian quota if Korea will reach the final, and they aren't even in Kazan.

Hm, I actually forgot to include us in Women's épéé, technically we can still qualify.... we just have to win the gold in Kazan, Italy has to win against Korea, and China has to win against France. Totally plausible, right? Especially the part about us winning the gold.

That's it for Egypt, they won't qualify in Men's épéé. We are down to 9 teams. Korea, Ukraine, China, Russia and Japan will fight for the last spots, one of them will miss.

2. :ITA  - 276 - Q World quota

3. :SUI  - 268 - Q World quota

4. :KOR  - 262 - World quota

5. :UKR  - 256 - European quota

6. :CHN  - 238 - Asian quota

Ukraine wins to take 11st place. It means France needs to beat China tomorrow to qualify

it's more complicated than that...

provided Italy won't finish the ranking among the top 4 overall (we need to beat the Koreans in the quarterfinal match and then finish at least 3rd tomorrow to overtake the USA), you need to score 22 points more than Estonia (who also are among the top 8 in Kazan and have the edge in case of a tie)...

but if ITA end up in the top 4 of the overall ranking, then you suddenly are qualified even if you end up tomorrow's event in 8th place (the worst case scenario)...

talking of women's Epee, of course, as in the men's event both you and us are already qualified with the full team quota...

I think you will overtake the USA even with a 4th place, unless I miscalculated something. With a 4th place you will have 290 points and the US is already done with 288 points.

well, it's still an important match because it would eventually determine the quarterfinal's pairing in Tokyo...

so, for us losing to Korea could potentially mean that we have to face POL or even RUS in the olympic quarterfinal match (the Koreans still need to make the Gold Medal match tomorrow to overtake ITA in the overall ranking), meanwhile defeating the Asians would lock the ITA vs USA quarterfinal pairing at the Games (which is a lot better than facing another European team for us)...

not to mention how we could put France (or Ukraine) back in contention if we are 3rd (or better) and sneak in into the top 4 overall (fact that would break the Canadian hearts, I guess)

Hey, you can also put us back in contention... we just need a literal miracle. :d

Oh, yes...I miscalculated the points for a 4th place...you're absolutely right...:yes

and I also miscalculated Ukraine's score...because they have an awful 8 to discard, so today's 23 points are to be taken into account and so they go to 212 and France have to be at least 4th to overtake UKR...

If italy beats korea, and we are eliminated by china, we go to tokyo?

    • Canoe Sprint There is a now a cap of 5 athletes per gender in the kayak events (down from 6 in 2024). The World Championships has been replaced by the Olympic Qualification Rankings.   K2 lost 2 boat quotas while K4 has gained 1 boat quota. Quota distribution is quite complicated as it usually is for canoe sprint. They also force nations to compete in a minimum number of events based on the number of athletes qualified; 2 and 3 athletes per boat class must compete in 2 events, 4 must compete in all 3 events and 5 must compete in all 3 events and have two entries in the K1 event.
    • Wrestling will have a completely new format, I do not like the changes. ranking isn't really a good idea in this sport, this will force wrestlers to compete in so many events to collect points. which is not good for their health. specially with the current UWW ranking points distribution system which is plain stupid   they are also gifting 18 quotas to very weak countries by that last qualification event. but I understand their point of view. can't wait to see lots of Russian wrestlers compete for weak countries for that 1 available quota.
    • Canoe Slalom Quotas from men's/women's K1 have been moved to men's/women's KX1. K1 will now have 14 quotas while KX1 will have 10 quotas. C1 remains at 17 quotas. Athletes may participate in other events up to a maximum of 2 athletes per NOC.   The World Championship qualifier has been dropped in favour of the Olympic Qualification Rankings (7 K1, 10 C1, 3 KX1), afterwards you have the Continental Qualifiers (1 per boat) and then a new Global Qualifier (2 per boat).   There were a few changes regarding ways to ensure an athlete can only obtain 1 quota. The biggest being at each stage the boat priority is K1 > KX1 > C1 for the rankings and KX1 > K1 > C1 for the continental/global qualifiers. This basically means if the same athlete qualifiers in multiple boats then the quota will be given to the kayak over canoe.
    • I'll post significant changes periodically. I'll start with the recently added/updated documents.   Archery The addition of mixed compound (12M & 12W) forced a reduction on the recurve side. The mixed compound quotas are distributed as follows   Host - 1 World Championships - 3 Continental Games - 5 World Ranking List - 2 Final Qualifier - 1   To compensate the team events will now only have 8 nations. 2 quotas were removed from the World Ranking List and 2 were removed from the Final Qualifier.   Individual recurve and mixed recurve distribution is the same
    • In Rome, it would be useful to roof the swimming pool complex at Foro Italico, possibly with the option of retracting the roof and covering the tennis court complex. Overall, there's a lot to do, for example, compared to Budapest, but unfortunately, this is Italy How many years has Roma been building their new stadium, and they keep pushing back the completion date- now I read it's 2030? and it should be ready. The same goes for Milan- there should be a modern complex of indoor swimming pools with 50 meters pools, etc., but there's a problem with one stupid football stadium, which will only be built after an ultimatum from UEFA
