Italy won 2 silver medals because in those tournament were better than the others and in general only France is for sure a better team, the other teams like Ukraine, Russia, Hungary, Korea and Switzerland are not better than Italy and sometimes you can win and sometimes you can lose, but it can' t be always a shame when an italian fencer lose for 1 ot 2 points. The only weapon where Italy is not very strong in this moment is women epee, in all the others Italy is one of the best. Also in women sabre Italy never had a strong team like this one.

I don't agree at all...

the only weapon where we're stronger than any other opponent is the women's foil...

then we have a very good team (men's foil) not always supported by team spirit and mental strenght (especially thanks to Cassara's moments of crazyness) and a good but not exceptional team (men's sabre) with clear mental problems in closing matches almost already won...

men's epee, instead, can't count on that talent...individually, we only have pretty modest athletes (apart from Pizzo, who unfortunately never shows in the team event the same class he puts into the individual events...and this should be investigated...why does it happen regularly?)...so, team results in the last 2 years are well above our actual level...

the women's sabre - despite today's exceptionally good and unexpected performance - and the women's epee teams are generally pretty average...and not because we lack of talents, but because we always give too many privilege to older athletes that should be taken out of the team when they do not perform at top level, instead throwing into the battle our great youngsters (who dominated the junior level in the last few years, but who can't even make the 8-man world cup team regularly...so, let's imagine when they get a chance at world and Olympic level)...

however, earlier comments were not negative because we lost against a (good) team like SUI, but because of the manner we lost...with a fool tactic that's used too often, despite not being so effective most of the times (and, moreover, it puts us always in danger of losing also against weaker teams like CZE, VEN, UKR, RUS, ISR etc. - which happened many times in recent years)...

finally, despite what I wrote in the previous lines, today I have to congrats with our sabre girls, who in the end did reach the world final against all expectations (and with Vecchi and Gregorio who finally played their fencing at top level, after the oscene attitude shown in the individual competition 3 days ago)...

and let's hope that they can take advantage of the enormous chance they have to win...you won't face an opponent like Korea once again in a world final...

Was Brunet injured? Otherwise using Queroli for the last bout was not a smart choice.

I don't know if she was injured, but she definitely asked for a change after the 6th leg against Vecchi...

so, the French coach didn't have any other choice but risking the young Queroli in the closing assault...and fortunately for us, this time it did not pay off...

can't believe how SUI lost the final bout...what a wasted chance to win their first ever WC gold in team's epee...

meanwhile, congrats to the Italian girls, who didn't waste their big chance to get another world title after 1999 and 2003...

they're definitely not the best in the world, but today all the favourites made mistakes and didn't show their skills...so, the winners are always right, losers don't...:d

and thanks to that, Italy are now back on top of the medal table with 3 gold , 1 silver and 4 bronze medals...

tomorrow is the last competition day and hopefully we're going to see some other surprise and also some other Italian success (to be honest, I'm more curious to see what Japan can do in the men's team foil after their brilliant individual tournament more than anything)...

    • I hope she can do well, but I think she's not going to win any gold, as she's never been comfortable both with the shooting range and the altitude in Anterselva   I fear biathlon is going to be one of the biggest flops for us next year (the other disaster will come from the sliding sports, I'm pretty sure...rather, hopeless)   I think our medal table will heavily depend on the speedskating sports, on the big air events and on alpine snowboard, any other discipline's contribution is going to be marginal
    • Great to see luge being back underway, but annoying that the graphics aren't really working properly yet     They're showing the time gaps at all the splits, as per usual, but then at the finish there is only the actual time, and no time gaps, resulting in all the time having to mentally calculate the difference to see if someone gained or lost time in the last part.

    • Yeah, that is quite a surprise overall. Our women's handball has regressed since the 2010s. Or maybe Spanish women's handball isn't as good as I thought.
    • / Ilke Wyludda (discus) passed away at the age of 55.
    • Poland defeat Spain 26 - 23 and did qualified to next round
    • Watched the mass start on Sunday & it just didn't work.  Runners starting from the fourth or fifth row back (ie everyone in places 20-70) were losing time through no fault of their own - just not enough room on the piste for 70+ starters.  So OK for an experiment, but not for real meaningful competition.

    • Yeah that mirror thing was so weird. You literally need a maximum of two safety car laps (possibly just 1) to take away that 1 piece of stuff....but wait until someone unavoidably shatters it into 1000 little pieces     Intentionally or not, there is no way it was NOT going to happen at some point...
