The Junior WCH 2015 winner (sprint) :BLR Darya Blashko can switch her team & citizenship to :UKR Ukraine.

They are called Ukrainian biathletes by our main sportswear distributor.

The rumours about Maria Panfilova switching back to Ukraine appeared in June and now both bought Ukrainian sportswear.

Panfilova's results are tragic though. Blashko will be a nice addition to the next Olympic cycle when Semerenko sisters (and Pidhrushna?) retire.

EDIT: Both of them train with our "Team B" so it's confirmed.

Russian Ministry of Sports awarded Starykh & Loginov with the highest sports title in Russia of "Honoured Master of Sport"

We have the same title in our system btw, but it can be stripped off only in 1 case - doping abuse

Meanwhile the rumours say that Uros Velepec can come back to coaching Slovenian team after these OG end.

Thank god :yes as long as it doesn't merge with a bunch of similar tricolor suits. Thankfully there's a cross on the left shoulder.

I like orange suits, but only for the Netherlands :d (or maybe Ivory Coast, but I've got a feeling they might be a little far away from participating in international biathlon)

This new Slovak suit is a million times better

Nah, orange was cool because you immediately spotted them. Meanwhile, which other countries have red, white and blue flag? :mumble:

But I don't see how orange makes sense. For the non-existing Dutch team that'd make sense, just like for example that all-blue of Italy makes sense despite it not being in their flag (much better than the red of a while back). It shouldn't only be easily spottable, it should also make sense :d

The South American championships are being held in Portillo in Chile this week, at around 3000 meters altitude so that's nice. Judging by the photo, three nations made it to the podium, with Maria Dominguez of Argentina taking the gold, silver for Claudia Salcedo of Chile and bronze for Brazilian Mika Picin (who won the Brazilian championship, although as far as I know she was the only Brazilian competing, so, yeah..)

    • Yep, the amount of emergency services I heard at some point was a little extreme (for our little town), so I checked what was going on and saw they were all being called to a specific location. Until then I thought maybe it was part of a parade of trucks and agricultural vehicles that was on it's way from the next town over, decorated with lights and stuff.   Since I knew it was on the parade route, I was sure one of those big vehicles had hit people somehow (there were, besides the many vehicles, also two helicopters on the way, meaning it certainly wasn't about a single victim).   We picked our bikes and went to take a look, absolutely chaos in the area. Never saw so many services combined together, fire trucks from 20km away, ambulance after ambulance came racing by, people frantically trying to make way for them (the roads weren't really closed yet).   While there we heard someone who had been close say that the parade hadn't arrived yet and what seemed to have happened was that a car from the other side came onto the roundabout and simply never turned. "It's a massive drama over there, unbelievable", he said.   Quite quickly rumours started spreading of course, the first one turned out to be true: a middle aged (local) woman was behind the wheel and seems to have become unwell. Local security camera showed the car going at high speed right before the roundabout.   Plenty of rumours going around in terms of who were involved of course, and people keeping each other up to date to see if they know this or that family and such...   Never expected my little town to be big news in the Netherlands, even including some breaking broadcasts, live reporters and everything, damn. By far the biggest thing to happen here in my memory

    • For me, these were very good Olympics, and British sport benefited greatly from them, and is still benefiting. I fear it will be much worse here. Canada also benefited very good on Vancouver 2010 – this is very good see in the medal standings of subsequent Winter Games after 2010 and earlier.
    • Nobody hates Britain more than the British media so… I recall it being quite a pessimistic tone before the London games started.
    • I'm curious what was written before London 2012? Did they attack their own country, or did they just keep quiet?

    • Very true point.  Although I think at this point everyone is just holding their collective breath until the test event.  The NHL isn't going to rage anymore until then because it's not like that would make the arena progress go any quicker
