Start lists out for the first races this year. Americans, Canadians, and Koreans don’t appear to have made the trip to Latvia. It looks like the Chinese are absent too. We do get to see a Brazilian in the women’s skeleton though @heywoodu

I wonder how complete those start lists are. Russians aren't shown in the bobsled ones, but they were on the start lists for trainings earlier this week (although they DNF'd, but their skeleton athletes are there and sliding).

Rocha had a World Cup outing in bobsled already, where they finished ahead of two very much podium candidate sleds :d (sure, those two crashed, but who cares)

In skeleton she seems to have been doing trainings only for a few seasons now, I wonder why she didn't start a single race.

How can Russians be on the bobsled start lists when there are no such start lists yet? :p

Sure, they are for tomorrow's training, but the skeleton training start lists of today ended up having the same 18 names per gender as the race start lists :p

To add to my previous post (or correct it): I thought he meant the skeleton start lists I saw this morning, which were for today's training. But apparently they're there for Friday's races now, so they are of course complete, one can assume.

Does anybody else recognize the intro music from something else? I'm not sure whether I recognize it from earlier IBSF live streams or from another sports-related event, possibly a multi-sports event :p

In case there is no music anymore and they're already live, of course just rewind to the beginning to listen.

It sounds vaguely familiar. I don’t think it was a theme song, but something in my brain is telling it was perhaps the medal ceremony song used at Lausanne2020. I definitely think it was used at Lausanne 2020 and Buenos Aires 2018, but I’m not sure about how.

Nah, it wasn’t used at during the medal ceremonies at Lausanne 2020. I do think it was used during the Games though.

    • Apparently this season will be last one in Kamil Stoch career if his results wont be enough good for his standards.
    • Such a nice one for Colturi ! That was fun. It almost looked like a script with the cameras focusing on Colturi a couple of times before her first run and showcasing the potential of youngster and she didn't disappoint.      I hope Colturi skis for Albania forever. So much fun to cheer her with the Albanian flag.    I don't get it why everyone is being so critical of Colturi, you got no right to criticize a personal decision, as most European nations use imported athletes in many sports like wrestling and cheer them on like their.   Would you spend hours criticizing Frank Chamizo for switching to Italy rather than playing for Cuba?

    • It may also be that Ceccerelli saw that the conditions in the Italian youth teams were very poor and that is why she insisted on setting up her own team (the results of young Italian skiers unfortunately confirm this). A private team will always be better than a team with 10-12 skiers with max. 3-4 coaches, a one doctor and a physiotherapist. Colturi is the only skier in her team and she has several coaches, a masseur, a doctor etc. Of course, it costs money, but since the parents are famous and have money + Red Bull got involved. I don't understand why she can't start for Italy again? Red Bull should care more that Colturi starts in Cortina under the Italian flag than the Albanian one + Red Bull, as a brand, always has a bigger sales market in Italy with a population of 60 million than in small Albania. I hope that this can still be reversed by next year. For this we need talks between the federation + Colturi's parents + Red Bull + possibly the Italian Olympic Committee. Colturi may be a skier equal to Brignone or even better in the future. We can't lose her, so we have to do now!
    • I`m very disappointed with this weekend. Only becouse of Ghiotto form I`m happy. Unfortunately, the women's team will not function well if Lollobrigida skips most of the training camps and Fontana starts alternately in short tack and long track. It will end with her not winning any medals here or there, because it`s already clear that it will be very difficult to achieve good results in long track. I hope that she understands this, because in short track she has a real chance of winning medals in the women's relay and the mixed relay but in long track not.
    • Tragic performance of the Italian women's team - last place and probably something bad happened at the start. There are so few starts in the team that it will be a problem to even qualify for the World Championships - 8 best teams. After Lollobrigida's return and Fontana's addition, I was counting on much more, but it seems that there are too few joint trainings. With individual quality, we have no right to lose to the Czechs without Sablikova, or anonymous Korea. And unfortunately this start will count for a lot, because there are only 2 more and our chances of playing at the World Championships are minimal. In my opinion with Fontana going from Short Track to Long Trackand vice versa, we won't be much use in the team. Here great teamwork is needed, not improvisation. As of today, there is very little chance that we will qualify the women's team for the games.
    • men advanced to Division A for the first time since 2018 (when they went 1-8). Don't expect much progress next year
    • Ok, but there we are talking about a person who has parents from different countries. Colturi has nothing to do with Albania.
    • There are few people here from Austria, Switzerland, Norway and Finland.
