Legendary Brazilian rider Rodrigo Pessoa has been named the new Chef d'Eauipe of Irish Showjumping. Really excited to see what he can bring to the table. Hopefully he can finally bring some consistency from the Irish team who have been underperforming hugely for over a decade. Robert Splaine held that position for far too long in my opinion without merit. Hopefully progress will follow :)

Good news, fresh team manager can often make a difference. :)

Entry list for Jumping World Cup Finals is out too. 39 athletes from 19 nations will compete. :)

The most interesting name I see is :FRA Eric Navet. Olympic medalist and multiple World champion from the 90s. He pretty much hasn't been around at all since 2004 Olympics and now he's back. :d His only other previous appearance at the WC finals was in 1992.

Next week the Dressage Nations Cup season starts in Wellington, FL. Only three teams start - :USA , :CAN and :ESP . According to rules there shall be at least four teams for CDIO, so I am not sure, if this event will be counted to the overall classification.

Yeah, it probably won't give points towards the overall rankings.

Shame. Australian Federation is to blame really. They initially didn't allow their team to enter as they didn't fulfill federation's "criteria". Few days after they reversed the decision, but to no awail as the entries were already closed.

Surprise after the first day of Dressage Nations Cup in Wellington, FL. Canada is leading over USA. :woot:

That's very much thanks to Canadian husband-wife team members, Jaimey and Tina Irwin. :) Tomorrow is the second and deciding day.

Canadians pulled it off. :yikes: They were slightly behind USA before their last rider entered, but Megan Lane did enough in a tight finish.

That's the first ever Nations Cup victory for team Canada. :yes

Great result for Canada!

I keep dreaming that one day, Mexico will field a complete dressage team to WCH or OG

That would be cool. :) Mexico has a solid base of small tour riders that do relatively well at regional games, but unfortunately, not many of them make transition to the big tour (Grand Prix) level.

On the other hand, prospects of a Mexican team in eventing are looking more promising after Karen O'Connor became a coach recently. Daniela Moguel improved big time over the last 12 months and can possibly do really well at the upcoming Rolex Kentucky next month (the "US Open" of eventing). Few weeks ago she was 5th at 3* in Florida, which had some big names.
