Potentially we are looking at Albania v Macedonia showdown in the R16. Africa is the real winner of this special event so far. I think we all saw Oceania’s defeat coming. I’ll have to go through and look at the language and genre statistics in a while. “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. OlympicIRL 5,532 Posted July 30, 2020 Author #1114 Share Posted July 30, 2020 At this point I need to share with you my anxieties about the rest of this contest. I'm really not sure I will be able to maintain my organisation duties. In fact I know it will be almost impossible for me to organise it over the weekend and next week. I already shared this with you before the contest, but now it is crystal clear to me that it will be almost impossible for me to manage this alongside managing my personal life. I'm sorry to let anyone down but I need to do what's right for me. I hope you will understand. I have time scheduled to spend with friends and family during my time off from work and I would regret it if I cancelled those plans. I don't know what is best to do? If we continue with re-scheduling the dates then it will probably take a lot longer since I will be back at work then too and will only be able to manage what I can, when I can and the point of this event was to have it run alongside the old Olympic schedule. The other option would be to look for replacement organiser(s) but I don't know if anyone is interested in that. I'm really sorry everyone. I've enjoyed preparing this contest and I am having fun but I can't sacrifice my personal time for the remainder of my holiday to organise it. I would regret it if I didn't spend the time with my family Dnl, Olympian1010, amen09 and 2 others 4
Olympian1010 7,990 Posted July 30, 2020 #1115 Share Posted July 30, 2020 I have the time and I’d be willing to, but I have zero skills when it comes to formatting tables and posts on this forum. I could help run things, but I can’t be the one posting results. “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. Olympian1010 7,990 Posted July 30, 2020 #1116 Share Posted July 30, 2020 @OlympicIRL You’re already a champion for throwing this all together. I think you more than deserve some time away from hosting duties. dcro and OlympicIRL 1 1 “Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. dcro 10,210 Posted July 30, 2020 #1117 Share Posted July 30, 2020 How about scrapping the whole lower bracket? It would save plenty of effort for the organizer and jurors alike. #banbestmen

But it makes up for almost as much effort as the main bracket. And it becomes somewhat bizarre when songs placed 17th-20th get to play 3 more matches than those ranked 9th-16th. Everyone would stay involved through judging. #banbestmen

I really want to make this contest work since we've all invested so much already and it's been fun. So even just posting basic results is fine. It's the day-to-day organising I won't be able to keep on top of now as it will require quite a bit of time each day.
